**The following update is an anonymous journal entry of a now retired member of the US Special Forces (for obvious reasons)**

    Nov 19, 2006

Back when I was in Spec. Ops, I overheard someone mention, in passing, something about a top secret military facility in the vicinity of Nemonos, Iowa. Being a busy commando kept me too busy to ever follow up on that, not that it would have made any difference: I didn't have nearly the security clearance to access that kind of info.

However, a decade or so later, I retired and moved to the suburbs. The suburbs of Nemonos. My wife had wanted to move here because she'd heard good things about the schools, and houses were pretty reasonable. I agreed for another reason.

Every couple weekends I would head out into the woods, of which there were plenty around Nemonos, to "hone my skills". Its hard adjusting to suburban life after globetrotting from conflict zone to conflict zone for 25 years. Sometimes I just had to get out into the bush. At least, thats what I told my wife. What I was really after was that elusive "top secret military base". Naturally such a place would not be on any map, or in any document I could see.

I worked backwards: where would it not be (i.e. near airports, flightpaths, and tall buildings). After a several years of searching, I came across something interesting.

In the middle of a thick forest was a very old rusty fence. On it was a barely legible sign "PROPERTY OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: TRESSPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED". This piqued my interest and so I decided that the next weekend I would come back prepared: camo, and camera.

    Nov 24, 2006

I had made it back to that fence in good time, a good amount of daylight left. It was overcast and grey today, ideal conditions for skulking around when you don't want to be caught. Surprisingly warm for November it was 8°C. Although the fence was old, several decades I'd wager, there was still razor wire on top and I'm quite certain it would have still done its job. I decided to cut through the fence instead. A hundred or so meters inside I spotted some buildings. Time to get out the camera.

    cod_1.jpg

As I got closer I realized this was a farm... once upon a time. Probably before the military snatched up the land.

    abandoned_farm.jpg

Note: My appologies for getting my hand in the shot, I'm still figuring out this camera, I just got it for this trip.

Around back I spotted an old beat up car. It was in really bad shape and by the model I'd say it was from the 80's. Which confirmed my suspicion that the base was no longer in use.

    old_junker.jpg

Beyond the farm in a clearing rose a bizarre statue of two soldiers holding machine guns. Looked more like something you'd see in Soviet Russia than a US military base.

    strange_statue.jpg

Which I guess should have forshadowed what would happen next.

    road_to_russia.jpg

I stumbled out of the brush onto a road. I guess this was the main access road to wherever... from wherever. No roads led into the base so who knows where this road went to or from. I guess I was going to find out. Strangely enough though, there was a large sign, like something you'd see entering a to

Err... soviet america? #%#!? The city itself looks a lot like Pryipat, Ukraine. However, if it was a training ground, why so large?

suplado! Thanks, It really does look real eh? The game is Call of Duty 4, its so sweet. Thanks again

ilikehotdogsalot Thanks, strange indeed. If it reminds you of pripyat there's good reason, thats because 1) the call of duty 4 pics are actually from a level in pripyat, and 2) that was the inspiration for it the sc4 city. I'm not gonna lie, this was really just an excuse to use call of duty 4 in my CJ somehow... I think I'm obsessed with that game or something...

    Godzillaman Thanks! 4.gif

dralin321 Thank you very much. It took me 2 attempts to get the colours in my sc4 pics to match the call of duty 4 pics. Its still not perfect but... It was the best I could do.

GreekMan Lol, not a fan are we? Thats ok. It certainly is a bit strange.

Simfan34 With regards to pripyat, see my reply to hotdogs above. I dunno, it doesn't seem that large to me...

Skram Thanks, did I make them? I made the city in sc4, and I captured the pics from call of duty 4 myself... Is that what you mean?

Flying_Scarecrow Lol, is that a good thing? You should checkout Gotham City by special eddie, your name would fit well with his current plotline.

Awesome! Call of Duty eh? Sounds interesting. Reminds me of Battlefield Vietnam. Really cool...erm...Soviet town you have there. Smack in the middle of Iowa. 3.gif Very interesting. I must say that game sure has good graphics. Very interesting.

GreekMan Really? They are good, but... I much more like this one. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

IDS2 Thanks. Battlefield Vietnam? I've never played that... not sure how the Ukraine looks like Vietnam but no matter.  Thanks again.

The Big Z Thanks, haha, mm, I've had a couple "depressing" updates now... I wonder if thats saying something...

Skram A few are photoshopped, to get rid of the gun in them, but I didn't draw them or anything, lol.

dralin321 Lol thanks, What gives you the idea I'm already onto the next update? Im not as it so happens... Call of Duty 4 is too much fun...38.gif

LegoMyDego28 Thanks,  I'm not much of a writer so I'm glad it turned out ok.

akhil1280 Lol seaport! Wow, how long ago was that. Ummm, I have no idea. I dont think so... I guess just d/l them yourself and find out! haha.

    jacqulina Thanks again as always.

Man, this was a stunning update! You really well combined CoD4's Pripyat(j) mission with your SC4 work of those awesome pre-fabs of Andreas. I liked that you changed the colors too match up with the CoD4 screenies. And one more thing. It really reminds me of the PR of Sakhaliya!

    Good job!

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

Ah...call of duty 4, what an incredible game (if short). The two Chernobyl missions were my favorite, though I just barely managed to beat the end of the second mission where your waiting for the helicopter. And that isn't a hand in the picture, its an sniper rifle 3.gif

You know what? All the development that I've looked at in this entire CJ looks like a big Boom like Toronto had. Is there any relationship?3.gif

bokrif Thanks! The first go around I tried to make the colours the same, but they were way off... It looked really bad! haha. I'm glad I got it better this time though. Yes, El Burro's CJ obviously was an inspiration factor here, man I love that one.

Yoman3 Long time since I've seen you around these parts. Haha, its a great game, I'm hooked on multiplayer these days. Yea, the end is pretty hard, I've beat it like 3 times now so I'm pretty good at that one.  Oh, yea it is a sniper rifle... but that wouldn't have worked with the story in my update, so I had to say something...

Godzillaman Lol, how do you mean?

Schulmanator Thanks. I agree, it was definately out of left field.

    Benedict Thanks. 4.gif

I recently got invited to join the IPON (Independent Pact of Nations) and that was pretty cool. Anyway, to make it work out better I've devised a clever plot twist.

I'll have more details later, i.e. the capital and such things.
