well the game is cool, but the game is not 100% funktional its rather 50% or so...

things i have troubles with:

the length on the map, sims will travel. i mean in the real world people can easely spend 1 hour on the highway and 5-10 min get on and off the highway.  so if you spend 1 hour on the highway, you can drive PRETTY far. but in the game they cant travel arround the block before they abbondom the bulldings.

i have just made a HUGE map 256x256  i have now gridded 1/4( 128x128)  of the map and got 1.2mio all surrounded with IND on the maps next to it.  my aim is to get this city as big as posible is all grided with avanues with 12x12 and all R and C is 4x4.. and subway/bus  every 4 block or so..

now when i started to zone the next 1/4 of the map people just startet to leave instead of settle down.. so now my city went down to 900.000 indstead of maybe 2,5mio.

and i have education ALL over... its a real supergrid.. well i thought it was hehe...

its really annoying when the sims wont travel more than a few blocks... ITS UNREALISTIC!!! i hate it.....  i guess i have to go back to 14x14 and place more parks and trees hehe 9.gif

the 12x12 is because i place 4x4 C in the corners and 4x4R in the between those... then there is 4x4 free in middle where you place some parks.

ohh well im on work now... more will come hehe

I suggest downloading the Network addon Mod (NAM) which can b e found in the Modds and Downloads section. You can customize how you install it. Read throught the whole thing carefully and it will give yo the choice to have roundabouts, additional network pieces, and can change how long sims will travel. Just check the right box and have fun!

There has been a pre-NAM pathfinding mod which is obsolete due to the NAM.

If you have a slow cpu, 512mb RAM and /or a lot of plugins use the better pathfinding, otherwise the perfect pathfinding.

I think you can pick on that says X2 Commute, which means (don't quote me) twice the commute time. 10X is ten times etc. . . .

But does perfect pathfinding really take up a lot more speed then better pathfinding???

    Read the NAM manual, perhaps?

I don't have the fastest computer, Kelton, but "perfect" pathfinding did slow me down a bit more than "better" pathfinding. Something that I did notice, though...both are a great improvement on the regular pathfinding, but the difference between "better" and "perfect" really wasn't that noticable. I switched back to "better" and gained my speed back and didn't notice much of a set back from "perfect" pathinding.

Sims will drive a long way to get to work.

Your problem may not be in the distance, but rather in the availability of jobs for different wealth levels. If rich people can't find jobs they'll leave. Are you having problems with all sims (R$, R$$, and R$$$) or just a certain group? If it's just one group, it's probably a job thing. Job buildings(I and C) provide mostly R$ jobs, then R$$, and a few R$$$. This goes for all wealth levels. So you may just need more jobs.

I totally agree with DOXX, I have an excellent cpu that is dedicated to just this game, and I've noticed no difference b/w better and perfect so I switched back to better. Especially if your building "grid" style like you said with excellent transportion network.
