       Maria was pacing back and forth. I cant believe you! I am so furious right now I could kill you!
       Be happy we escaped with our lives. If it hadn't been for my piloting skills we would've been killed. Cliff said surveying the destruction. On the bright side the replicator seems to be functioning still. I can't say for how much longer. We should be able to replicate some of these peoples currency and see if we can find some supplies to fix this mess. Maybe I could buy a date too seeing as were going to be stuck here for a while.
       All our work ruined, and its all your fault. At a time like this you can still think of girls! Your insane! I can't take it anymore! Maria screamed as she charged swinging toward Cliff, knocking him backward.
       As they hit the ground Cliff heard a rustling in the bushes. Wait... listen. Something is coming. Hide quick.
       They both scrambled to their feet and ran behind the bushes on the other side of the clearing.

       Farah emerged from the trees. I swear I just heard someone yell. she said looking around the area.
       Keele stumbled into the clearing behind her. I thought I did too, but that's impossible. No one lives anywhere around here.
       Reid approached the crater peering inside. Wisps of smoke still came from the rubble inside it. I wonder what this was. Whatever it was, its toast now.
       This is very interesting, it looks like a large amount of metallic material. I'm going inside to look at it. Keele said excitedly as he climbed into the crater.
       Reid rolled his eyes. Its just junk. Ill wait up here.
       Farah climbed into the crater behind Keele. I want a souvenir to take back and show everyone.

       Cliff and Maria were huddled in the bushes watching the three pick at the ruins of their ship.
       Maria leaned over a little to get a better view. We should stop them before they find something they shouldn't have, or before they hurt themselves. It's a good thing part of our research was learning their language.
       Cliff shrugged. Oh all right, if you insist.
       They both came out of the bushes and walked toward the edge of the crater.

         Hello down there! Maria called into the crater.
       The three were startled when they turned around to see two strangers behind them.
       Who the heck are you? Keele asked.
       Cliff and Maria introduced themselves and quickly wove together a tale about them being sent to explore this area of land and how they had happened to see the thing falling out of the sky and came to investigate. Farah and Reid were convinced by the story, but Keele was not buying it.
       Who sent you to explore this area again?
       Maria had to think fast. Were from that one city, the one far to the east. They sent us.
       King City? or Imperial City? Too late, Keele fell for it and gave her the names she was looking for.
       Yea... King City that's it. Its lucky for us that you three came along when you did. Our ship... err... boat was damaged a few days back and we lost most of our supplies.
       Farah was happy to offer any kind of help. Your in luck then, a ferry from King City comes out to our island twice a week. Its due in tomorrow morning. You can come back to Rasheans and stay with us until the ferry comes.
       Well that's awfully nice of you three. Maria, why don't you go on ahead with them and I'll be right there. Cliff said with a wink.
       Maria understood. She hurried on ahead and had Farah, Keele, and Reid following right behind.
       Well this ought to be fun. Cliff whispered to himself as he climbed down into the crater.

       Cliff reached them just as they got to the boat. He slipped Maria a hefty wad of cash (for this planet at least) while the others weren't looking.
       Luckily the boat had extra oars in it so the trip back was much faster.

       When the island came into view Maria made a comment on the vegetation. Keele informed her that their island had very unique trees and plants living on it. The most impressive was the King Palm, said to be the biggest palm tree in the world. They grew everywhere on the island. In the rockier areas of the island a special type of pine tree grew, the Sugar Pine. The sap was delicious and could be made into any number of sweet treats.

      As they entered the bay Keele pointed out the Rasheans lighthouse.

       Farah was eager to show the new arrivals around Rasheans and was quick to point out anything she thought would be interesting to them. After returning the boat to the dock she pointed out the hill with the tower where they met each day.

       They quickly approached the central area of Rasheans.

       Keele showed them the town church, and the government office where his father worked as mayor of Rasheans.

      They showed Maria and Cliff the ferry terminal where they would catch the ferry at.

       Before leaving the central area of town, Keele showed them the library where he spent most of his time.
       It's more like ALL of your time Keele! Farah giggled.

       Reid showed them the town recycling area where the island recycled 95% of its waste.

       At the end of the road near the recycling center was Reid's house.

       The next stop was Keele's house. His father being the mayor, they had the nicest house on the island.

       The sun was beginning to set as they made their way to the southern part of the island where Farah lived. She pointed out the fields her family owned along the way to her house. First was her grandfather's cow pasture.

       Next they passed her uncle's melon farm.

       Farah's parents owned a corn field. By the time that they arrived at her house it was almost dark.

       Farah offered to let the two stay at her house until the morning when the ferry came. They graciously accepted and went along with her while Keele and Reid returned to their homes.

       The next morning at the ferry pier, Farah and Reid had come to see Cliff and Maria off. Keele was no where to be found.
       Thank you very much for letting us stay with you, and for the tour. Maria shouted down from the ferry.
       Farah waved up at them. Anytime! It was fun having you, come back soon.
       With a loud blast of the horn, the ferry pulled away from the dock and headed out into the ocean.

       Alone on the top deck, Cliff and Maria watched the island of Rasheans grow smaller and smaller.
       Those kids sure were nice.
       Yea that was fun. Maria's smile faded I hated having to lie to them though.
       Why whatever could you be lying about? came a sarcastic voice from behind them.
       They both turned at the same time to see Keele standing with his arms folded glaring at them.

Hello everyone, Im terribly sorry about the delay in releasing chapter 4.  I have some time tomorrow morning that I will use to release it.  It is prepared, just have to load it up here.  I would tonight, but its been a long day and time for bed...

       It was hard for Maria to look Keele in the eyes. Keele, we didn't mean to lie to you. It's just that we cant tell you the truth.
       Cliff let out a small laugh. Oh yea Maria, that was real good.
       Keele still had an angry look on his face. You two have something to do with the thing that fell from the sky. I know its true now, just admit it.
       Look Keele, we can't tell you anything more than we have. If you want to be mad about it that's fine, I'm sorry. But since your here we could use your help, if your willing. Maria said.
       There was a long moment of silence.
       Well it all depends on what you need help with.
       Have you ever been to King City before?
       It was Keeles turn to laugh out loud. I've only been there twice, and it was a long time ago. Let me guess, your not really from King City.
       You've got us there Cliff said.
       Keele didn't think it would work, but he gave it a shot anyway. I'll help you on one condition. You answer one question honestly.
       Maria looked at Cliff, he gave her a shrug. Ok, but only one. We are under strict orders not to reveal any information.
       Ok, my question is : Where are you really from?
       We are from Arcadia.
       Keele looked puzzled. I've never heard of it.
       Well, you said one question, and I answered it honestly. All you need to know is that its a place that's far away.
       Keele was lost in thought, trying to think of where Arcadia could be. Ya ya, Ill help you. It'll be a while before we get there. I'm going downstairs to take a nap.

       Several hours later they arrived at the ferry port in King City.

       Ok Keele, we need to go to any kind of electronics shop. Cliff said.
       Well I don't know the city that well, but any of the kind of shops you need will be in the central business district. Its just up the hill. What do you need parts for anyway?
       Ah ah ah! Maria shook her finger at him. We answered your one question. Don't push it.
       They decided to grab a taxi to save time.
       Along the way Keele stared at the large houses. I never remember the houses being so big out here. It sure makes our island look silly.

       The taxi driver was very helpful and directed them to many shops that dealt in electronics and computers.

       Kasuv Electronics didn't have anything they were in need of. Neither did the Computer Shack.

       A small computer repair shop they found had something that might be of use.

       When they went to pay Cliff pulled out a bill. Both shopkeepers gasped. He didn't know what he was doing and had pulled out enough to buy everything in the shop. He turned to Keele for help. After helping him select the right bill, Keele ushered them both out into the street and behind the shop where no one could see.
       What are you doing with that kind of money! He whispered.
       Cliff looked puzzled. What do you mean, is it really that much?
       With all that in your wallet, you could buy this whole city!
       Maria stepped in. Look, this isn't the time for this discussion. Its starting to get late and we need to get a move on. We aren't familiar with your currency. Cliff obviously made a mistake when he replicated it. Its one thing... Her voice trailed off.
       MADE IT!!! Keele shouted. How?
       Cliff shot an angry glare at Maria. Good going Maria. Just tell him everything why don't you.
       Keele sat waiting for an explanation, when neither offered he decided not to press them. Lets get going.

       The next stop was a department store that didn't have anything that would help.

       They even stopped at the flea market to browse through it.

       Keele waited in the museum nearby while they shopped.
       Cliff had all but given up. You know Maria, were stuck here. That's all there is to it. There is nothing on this planet capable of repairing our ship.
       You're right. Our best bet is to get back and try to get the transmitter working so we can call for help. We are going to be stuck here for quite a while. She went to sit down on a nearby bench.
       Cliff joined her. Well, just because were stuck here doesn't mean it needs to be bad. We could buy some supplies and build a nice little place near where we landed.
       Maria smiled. That might be fun. The smile faded. You know I think I'm still in shock about this whole situation. When it wears off I think your going to be in a world of hurt.
       I think I can salvage most of our research from the ships database. With their technology here we can at least store it until we get rescued. Our mission will still be mostly a success. Cliff began to glance around the market again. You know this means we need to do more shopping. Why don't you get some supplies together like wood, tools, etc. I'll head down to the harbor and see if I can get a ship back. I don't want to be stuck here for three days waiting for the ferry back.
       Maria didn't want to be stuck in the city either so she went along to her task.
       After a while they met Keele at the museum. Cliff had arranged transportation on a fishing ship that would take them and their supplies back to the crash site, and drop Keele off in Rasheans. The left downtown and headed to the harbor.

       At the harbor the last of the supplies Maria had bought were being loaded onto the boat.
       Something about the situation was nagging at Keele. I don't understand. If you have the ability to make all that money, why can't you just make these parts you need.
       Its not that easy, we can only make simple things. Cliff said Our replicator can't make the complex items we need to-
       Maria slugged him in the shoulder to cut him off and shot Keele a scowl.
       I know I know. I got my one question answered. I'll be quiet.
       The ship was finally ready. They all boarded and began the voyage back.

Greetings Eternia visitors!

If you didnt guess from my little note above in chapter 4, King City was not part of Eternia.  Its an old city in an old region that I decided to have the characters go visit.  Another part of the story coming up soon will do the same thing again, in a different part of that old region.  At this time the only city/populated area in Eternia remains Rasheans Island.

I need some input from some people, how about a poll :

For future chapters (wouldnt be until chapter 11 this would take effect) would you rather see them be :

 

1.) Short but come out faster

   or

2.) Long (something like what they are now) but come out slower

 

Im currently working on chapter 11-15 and before I write in the story and format it, Id like to know how people would rather I do it.

I like this City Journal, It has style, and I like it. I think your a good story teller too. I hpe theres another update soon, and lots of them. You should make a long story and post some pictures for visual aid. Your region is the best region I've ever seen. Just wanted to say that.

       When they arrived at Rasheans Maria and Cliff said their goodbye's to Keele and thanked him for his help.
       Maria told him that he and his friends could come visit them anytime.

       When Reid and Farah showed up at the tower that day Keele was already there.
       Keele! Farah yelled. Where have you been!
       Keele quickly told them of his little adventure to King City with Cliff and Maria.
       Reid was particularly interested in the part about the money. Where could they have obtained that much money? That's crazy.
       Cliff let it slip that they made it. Something is definitely up with those two. I know they have something to do with whatever fell from the sky.
       Farah was quick to defend them. Well they are very nice people, I really don't think they would have stolen the money. They must have some good reason.
       Whatever the reason, I intend to find out. They plan to build some kind of house over there. Maybe we could go help as an excuse to look for information. Keele suggested.
       Farah was excited with the idea. That's great! I could bring along some seedlings from my family's farms. Living over there all alone they will need to be able to live off the land.
       Oh, good idea Farah. What about you Reid, are you coming? Keele asked.
       Reid rolled his eyes. You want to go over there to work? What fun is that going to be. I guess Ill go, it would be boring being over here alone.
       Great! Well prepare tonight and leave first thing in the morning.

       The next morning they borrowed another fishing boat, loaded it up with some extra supplies for Cliff and Maria, and headed off to see them.

       Cliff and Maria had set up camp on the other side of the crash site, near the bay. Maria had picked the spot because of the small patch of wildflowers that were growing there. She loved flowers.

       Because of the campsite not being where the three had expected, they didn't arrive there until mid day.

       When the three came into camp, they didn't exactly get the greeting they had expected. Maria jumped up at seeing them, grabbed several items and ran into one of the tents. Then she came out and zipped up the door. Keele explained that they wanted to come help them build their house. Cliff seemed happier about seeing them than Maria did, but they both welcomed the help. Keele helped with ideas for the house while Farah and Reid looked for a good site. In no time they had the supplies moving and the framing started.

       Over the course of the next several days the progress was steady and everyone was working well together. Despite it being work as Reid put it, he was having a lot of fun. Farah had a large area around the build site plowed into several different small fields. Once the house was complete, Cliff started work on the generator to give them power. Meanwhile the rest of them constructed a greenhouse and a few sheds near the home to contain all the extra tools tools and farming things Farah had brought for them.

       After a short time, Cliff and Maria had a beautiful house, and thanks to Farah several small fields of different crops.

       Everyone was relaxing on the porch that evening, drinking some fresh lemonade.
       You know, it's so peaceful and beautiful over here I might want to move over too. Farah said.
       Keele arched an eyebrow, Actually I was thinking the same thing.
       Maria shared a troubled look with Cliff. He shrugged.
       Well you two, there is certainly plenty of room over here. Cliff said If you really wanted too we would be happy to help build a house for you as well. And we could always use a hand with all these crops that Farah got for us. He chuckled.
       Maria didn't really want anyone else around. With the salvaged items from the crashed ship hiding in their house and shed she wanted to keep anyone far away from it. But at the same time she had to be polite to her new friends. Wouldn't you two miss your island, and your family's? She offered.
       Keele laughed out loud, I never see my dad anyway, he's always so busy with governing the island. If I ever do see him it's because I have to go help him with his work.
       Farah took a sip of lemonade, The other thing is that it's not far, Rasheans is just a short row away. she said. This will be so exciting, another new adventure!
       Reid had been silent the whole time, You two are always doing something crazy! Don't think I'll let you leave me out of it this time either, if your moving over here so am I.
       Keele and Farah both laughed.
       If that's your decision we'll be happy to help Cliff offered. But, I think that if we are going to be building a bunch of stuff over here in this area we should purchase it and make it ours. Keele, what would we have to do to ensure that this land stays ours to do with as we wish?
       Keele thought about it for a minute, I suppose we'd have to go to Imperial City and purchase the rights to the land. Imperial City is far to the east, past King City. Its the largest city in the world and the capital of the eastern regions. There is a large government building downtown that my father and I had to go to once long ago for something concerning Rasheans. I'm sure that would be where we would take care of our business.
       Sounds like that would be the place. How much do you think it would cost? Cliff asked.
       I really would have no clue, Keele said However, after seeing how much you were carrying around the other day, I'm sure you have enough for at least a small plot of land here.
       I'll bring everything we've got just incase. Cliff said.
       Reid decided he wanted to go, Hey, can I come to? I've never been to any place other than Rasheans, I want to see what the big city looks like.
       Cliff thought on it a minute, Sure, we'll leave first thing tomorrow morning. The ferry is due back in Rasheans then if I'm not mistaken.
       Yea, tomorrow morning it will be there. Farah said.

       The morning of the trip, Cliff went down to the basement where the replicator was hidden. He replicated some more money. After that he decided he wanted a quick snack and programs the replicator to make some Cocoa Krispies. A small burst of smoke came out from the back of the replicator and all the lights went out.
       The replicator was done for. While he wasn't surprised that it finally gave out, Cliff was upset that he couldn't have any Cocoa Krispies.

       The three rowed over to Rasheans to catch the ferry, and in no time were on their way. In King City they caught another ferry that took them to Imperial City. It was dawn the next day by the time they arrived.

       They headed to the capital building and waited for it to open.

       When the doors opened they navigated the large building to a special office that dealt with purchasing land.
       An older woman was sitting at a large desk in the room. Good morning
       Keele smiled at her. Hello, we are interested in purchasing some land.
       The woman sounded bored. Please state the location and how much.
       Its the land west of the island of Rasheans, far to the west of here.
       She frowned. Why would you want to buy any land there? Theres nothing out there.
       Cliff was starting to get annoyed. Is it for sale or not?
       The woman took a large book of the shelf behind the desk and began flipping through it. Well, there are no claims on that land. I suppose you can buy it if you want. How much would you like to buy?
       Looking through his pocket, Cliff pulled out a wad of cash and put it on the desk. How much would that buy?
       Keele smacked his head. He's done it again he whispered to himself.
       The woman gasped. Why, you could buy the entire region for that amount.
       Good, well take it. Please put it under this young mans name. He will be the owner. Cliff said pointing at Keele.
       Reid was still staring at the money, astonished.
       She looked confused Why would you be paying all this money just to put it in his name?
       Um, well.... He couldn't say 'I'm not from your planet and I have no right' ...then it came to him Because this young man here is the son of the mayor of Rasheans. He has been around government and knows how to take care of important things like this.
       Very well, the paperwork is pretty simple to complete. I'll get it started. By the way where did you get this amount of money? the woman asked.
       Cliff had prepared himself incase he was asked that question. My father was very wealthy, but he died recently and left me this money. Cliff tried to look sad. Please I do not wish to talk of him right now.
       After that the woman left them alone about it. Shortly the paperwork was done and the whole region was put in Keele's name.
       Now, I need a name for the region. Did you have one prepared. she asked them.
       They hadn't been prepared for that. Quickly they discussed it between themselves. Keele brought up several names he had heard in books. One in particular came to mind, everyone agreed it sounded great.
       We have decided. We will call the region Eternia. Keele said.
       Eternia. The woman tested the name. That sounds very nice. Now that the land is yours, you are free to build whatever you like on it and create any system of government you wish, however you must be fair and equal to any people living there. Unless there are any problems, our government will not interfere.

       With the task complete, they decide to buy some more supplies to build houses for Keele, Farah, and Reid. Cliff again hired a boat in the harbor to take them back to their place.

       After returning home, they made plans for the three new houses and began work the next day.

Hi SI,

Good update...well, updates since I missed the one before that (sorry).  The story is really interesting and I see alot of potential (maybe Keele and Maria will get married and have star children?)   

 

I do have one question though...in the pic of Cliff and Maria's house there are two white things in the fields.  What are they?  Looks like some type of irrigation equipment maybe?

 

Anyway, keep up the good work!
