I just downloaded SC4 Terraformer tool yesterday (which is an excellent tool), but I don't see and option to allow me to expand the city borders, is this possible? Also new to site "community", looking forward to utilizing some of the great tools and hopefully uploading my own.

Welcome to ST!!! Now do u mean city borders or region borders?? Because a city has to be either dont quote me on sizes but I think Small(1kmx1km) Medium(2kmx2km) and Large(4kmx4km) But the regions can be as big as u want depends on how u create the config for it!!

You can make the region bigger by editing the config.bmp in the region's folder (MyDocs\SimCity 4\Regions\region name). You can also use this to change the size of the city. Unfortunately you can only choose between big, medium, and small. To make a big city, you need a 4x4 pixel blue square, a medium is a 2x2 green square, a small is a 1x1 red square. To change the size of the whole region, just make the image larger. You can do this in MSPaint by draging the edge of the image, or by going to Image->Attributes... and changing the numbers.

Hey thanks for the reply. Well I haven't gotten to region resizing just yet (I'll get to that later), I just needed to know how to resize the city borders.

You have to go to SC4files and get into config, open it with paint, and color it all with blue, not dark, the normal, one if not, there will be problems,

make sure that the blue is part of a 256 color scale, this is critical bacause SC4 freaks out with other colors.  4x4 blue is large city, but if you make a blue square that is the wrong size you will get very weird results, check out this thread to see what i mean.

rodent1989, RushHourFreak, simzebu, crazychickensc12 I'd like to thank you all. I get what I have to do to change the image.

I guess, but what do I do about the files that are in My Regions folder (3 that represent one square)? All the files are represented by a position ie 000-000

(which 4 medium squares do I remove to replace with one large, what number (000-000) do I assign new image file,

and do I need to change both blue & actual image in paint?) which I have no idea how grid is laided out (which are connected). What do I do about the file that isn't (possibly conf-file) a image file, how will SC4 recognize new image to replace old ones? I tried removing for images then uploading file in Terraformer nothing happend.

Sorry so long but I truly hate wasting time when I know the solution is right there.

I am unsure if you can change the size of any one city after it has been built on without also destroying the city. If you want to adjust the size of a city tile before you build on it, that can be done by editing the .bmp file that goes along with your region, as stated above. Are you trying to change the size of your region or the size of one of the cities in your region?

    The basic's:

If you change the city sizes after you terraform, you will lose the the terrain.
You have 3 choices for city size, L, M, and S

You can inlarge an established region by adding to the bottom, and/or right side, without destorying the cities.

    Here is some data:

    grayscale to config.bmp ratio :
    64:1 plus 1 pixels

Large city = 4x4 pixels  blue
Medium city = 2x2 pixels  green
Small city = 1x1 pixels  red

Cities will appear in relation to the config.bmp.

Steven,  If you have the SC4 Terraformer, you can save the terrain, then delete all the city files in the region's folder, change the config how you want it to be, then reimport the terrain you saved.

*note: This will delete any existing cities.

Neddiggis you did it. Everyone helped but your message made it click for me. Thanks a lot everyone. In the most simplest way I took that small image (Cong.bmp) got rid of all my success (which was chaos) files, and colored the whole thing blue. Now that

I have the concept imprinted in my head I'll be unstoppable, hahaha, not really. Well I have success, whew.

Thanks again you guys. Till the next problem, LOL!!
