And before you ask, yes I DID check the FAQ and couldn't find what I needed. What do I need? Very simple. Basically I am making my own region using a GreScale .bmp of my own design and wish to have it sliced up in a very specific manor. The game has no problem sculplting my region using the grescale, however it totally ignores the "config.bmp" I have created that would slice up the region into cities. I've tried a varity of ideas that don't seem to work and am at my wits end. Again the map itself is created just fine, but the way the cities are laid out is usually one of the games premade layouts as opposed to the custome layout I have made.

Please post your config.bmp image here.  We need to see what you are trying to do.

CrossroadsIsland.jpg Here is what it looks like currently. cross_current.gif Here is how I want it to look. cross_changed.gif And here is the config.bmp I created for when I tried to remake it (which the game seemed to ignore) config.jpgtest_config.gif

    SC4Terraformer (available from link on home page) works very well for this.. Put the new config (but no file) into a new region folder. Load your current region into SC4TF, choose from top left "export .sc4m file and save it.. getting it into your "new region" folder. Quit SC4TF and restart it but LOAD the new region.. When you enter it will be blank, so go to the same menu as before.. Select however IMPORT .sc4m file and load in the file you saved before. This will not damage your old region and will, when you save and exit, make a new region with your new config.bmp configuration. You cities will be lost.. You can "import" the old cities that are the same city block size, but you will have to re-create your new "resized" city block.. Have fun.. This almost takes longer to explain than it does to do.. 4.gif

    Um... For the record I'm using a Mac, I posted in the mac forum, but I figured I'd get more responses here.

    I have two suggestions.

    Use true colors:

    red=0

    green = 255

    blue = 0

    and:

    red=0

    green=0

    blue=255

    Make sure the grayscale ratio to the config.bmp, is 64:1 plus 1 pixels.

    EDIT:  Be sure and clear the region folder before you copy the new config.bmp file.

    I examined your config.bmp map with the GIMP and found that your colours do not conform to the requirement.  Sorry, but no artistic licence is allowed here.  If you are on a Mac, there must be an editor, e.g. The GIMP or Photoshop that allows you to set the colour value to 255 for the required color.

    For a large city you want the colour to be (x,x,255) where x can be anything 4 x 4 px

    Medium needs (x,255,x)  2 x 2 px

    Small needs (255,x,x) 1x1 px

    No other sizes are allowed

    The x colour should be minor (<192).

    HAZZAH!

    Apparently I was using the wring colors Red Blue and Green. Once the colors where shifted to 'True' colors it worked! (does victory Jig)

    Of course NOW I have another question.... How do you find out how 'Tall' something is. I remember in SC3 you could info a tile and it would give you an altitue reading from Sea Level, is there anyway to find height in SC4?
