I prefer "game original growable building". But now the C-buildings in High-density zone are too thin(only2×3 or 2×4),not big nor high enough.I hope of seeing "Bigger ones", such as"EA","XXX Headquarter"... they are 5×5 or 6×6 tiles.

Hearing of this is related to "Stage". Sounds "Stage 8" allows "bigger ones" grow. Also learned form one post that a population of 500,000 almost means "Stage 8".

Now my city has a population about 770,000 and a history of 110 years. C-demand reached the highest point.Pollution, garbage, commute time...(and so on) are well solved.I am sure the ground spaces for the bigger ones are enough.

I wonder:
1.What's wrong with this?
2.Whether regional population relates to this?
3.Whether the number of R-$$$ of my city is too small?(about 50,000)
4.How to know exactly which "stage " the city is?

By the way, using Query tool from STEX can easily find the conditions of activating a building, that is,we can see the number of R-$$$ or R-$$ a big building needs. But I can't see the info untill the buildings have grown up.

Could someone nice give me some help?

Thanks a lot!

I'm sorry, uploading pictures is unvaliable...

im pretty sure the game has no buildings of that size. i think the biggest it goes is 4x4 or 3x4. to get buildings of that size, i suggest you look around the STEX.

Actually, PrinceofSims, I think there are a few buildings larger than 4x4. (Either that, or there's some "support-tile" system for certain Commercial zones, the way there is with unparcelized Industrial.)

I say this because one day, after reading the article on parcelized Industrial, I got curious and decided to try it with Commercial too... and my 6x6 Light Commercial parcels started popping up Fashion Centers and Hsu Malls. I've seen at least the Hsu on a 4x4 parcel before, and the tiles around the edge of this 6x6 looked a lot like parking lots...

I'm not sure whether this applies to any large Co$$$ towers, though... since I've never been fortunate enough to get them either. :/ Your population of R$$$ Sims is certainly relevant to your concern here (although I recall reading that even Co$$$ towers can have R$$$ Sims as only a limited percentage of their workers)... perhaps try some mass transit or Highway links, as direct as possible, from your R$$$ neighborhoods to the area of your desired towers.

The only other thing that really comes to mind is the land value and desirability factor of the specific area where one is trying to get such large towers to grow. I imagine a 5x5 or 6x6 office tower is going to be quite posh and will want surroundings of the same character. Try zoning along a high-traffic Avenue with a nearby cross Road (to allow U-turns for access if necessary), then plop down a TON of nearby Plazas as an experiment, and maybe some Green Lawns as well. Be sure to let us know if this works!

    Thanks a lot.

I am sure there are such big ones. Cuz I've managed growing 'em before.
But the data was lost.

I have to do a new start.
Strangely, I can't remeber how to do this now... 2003-2006,rather a long time.

Just use the ctrl button to force zones of that size. A lot of buildings have multiple lot sizes, filling in the extra space in the larger ones with parking lot textures.

If you want to zone 5x5 and 6x6 you must know that there is not gonna be any bulding, you should zone 4x4. If you want malls and such that keep zoning that. You must wait for 5000 commercial jobs

like said above the large building from the original game (aka Maxis buildings) are the 4x4 buildings.

there are a few 5x5 and 6x6 CS buildings (some large malls) might be a few RES R$$$ mansion...not 100% sure. Both of which don't hold many sims/jobs.

but if your looking for large zoned buildings your going to have to search the STEX for buildings with larger bases
Buggi has a mod that switches some of the Maxis buildings to grow on a 6x6 lot, though I believe the stats of the buildings stay the same as the original 4x4's

There are no residential lots bigger than 4x4, with the exception of a couple of low-density R$$$ mansions that are 4x5 and 4x6. (Basically, they're the same mansions that grow on smaller lots, but they can also fill up very big lots too.)

There are a couple of CO$$ lots that are bigger than 4x4.

Fisk Insurance can sit on a 5x4 lot.

McClellan Inc. can sit on a 4x5 lot.

There aren't any CO$$$ lots bigger than 4x4.

CS$ lots are generally small; the only big lot is the 4x4 Willmott Drive-In.

In CS$$, the only lots bigger than 4x4 are

Lee Shopping Mall (6x6, 6x5, and 6x4 lots)

    Harris Galleria (5x4)

    Multiplex 13 (5x2, 3x5)

    In CS$$$, there are

    Bilyk Galleria (5x4)

    Grand Hotel (5x2)

Andrews' Fashion Centre (6x4, 6x5, and 6x6 lots)

Any for the various industries, there are several lots bigger than 4x4, but you don't have to worry about zoning specific depths for them to grow because they'll make their own lot sizes.

Of course, some of the buildings I listed above will also grow on smaller lots, but the bigger lots have more decorations and stuff.
