Is the 'TELUS' sign on yours left of where its supposed to be? Im not sure its difficult to see. Might want to check that. The sign would pop out nicely if you went a few shades lighter on the squares that are beneath it. Sorry if i sound critical, its obviously very close. I just think a few simple details would go a long way.
My opinion is that youshould make the lights a little more random. I think i know what you are getting at with the strips of lights, and strips of darkness. Like on pics of the world trade where you can see where the different companies lease out large sections of a floor and they are lit correspondingly. That may be more realistic, i just think it looks better aesthetically if they are random...so consider it but you could go either way.  As far as the color..i dont know because i havent seen the building at night.

slow down thats just a draft....and thanks for the suggestions! i will make the lights random but its not easy to make 4 preview of different night colors and still random them out34.gif

I want to take the chance to thank Feepa with his help. From my zoning map, some of my arial pics, and many links Feepa has offered some great behind the scenes extras. Its not only nice to have peoples interest but peoples interest to help aswell.
Also thanks to Dudyconstuctor on his recent work on the Telus Building.
There are also a few other people who have given me some help and ideas for taking on different obsticles. I'm sure without me writing a half a page of peoples names they know who they are. Plus I'm paranoid of forgetting someones name.

October 29th : I didn't have much time today but I got some of the harder/major roads done in the Terwillegar area in SW Edmonton. Theres alot of roads that need to be laid. And to get them accurate It'll take alot of time to get small results. I plan to continue doing both building in areas that are done while expanding roads in many different areas of the city. For those who don't know the whole picture of what Edmonton looks like theres alot to do. Plus ST. Albert which should prove to be impossible.

I've done alot of work on roads. Time consuming, hard to measure roads! But it feels good to get these areas on the go. In the eastern area it is nearly finished within that box. Its an area of massive refineries and spread out industries. And in the south western area is mainly residential so it takes time to lay alot of roads for the area. I also pushed the population over 100,000 and I have the jobs in total around 50,000 which is a good ratio. The city seems to be growing without any problems which is nice since I am playing the game without altering modds. Beyond extra money and the plop mod this is SC as is.

Edmonton Metro is set to go over 1 000 000 by the end of '04.  It will surpass Calgaries pop. by 2007. (Assuming nothing major happens).

So that means you have 900k to fill..but that cuts off St. Albert and Sherwood Park as well as some parts of the city...so you might get around 600K in that map.

City itself has only 650Kish but there are TONS of surrounding towns and cities..
    (approx. populations)
    Sherwood Park - 60k
    St. Albert - 60k
    Leduc - 14k
Nisku - (Site of Edmonton International Airport) 5k
    Ft. Saskatchewan - 15k
    Spruce Grove - 14k
    Stony Plain - 5k

plus a few farms, and small small towns.

this is the final preview of the roof.
    telusroof.jpg
what is interesting that the real building doesn't have much junk in the roof. I had to add myself
because if i leave the way the building really looks like the realism wouldn't fit on SC4 building core.

Wow! This is looking amazing! 44.gif I can't wait until you are finished. Just one question though. Are you going to add snow valley or rainbow valley to the second bridge (or wherever that bridge is) on Whitemud East?

Not bad. I'm not slatin your ctiy building or anything... but...
What i want to know is why do most of the people in Simtropolis plop their downtown buildings BEFORE they even start their suburbs or anything at all. The game is so much more rewarding building the city around the downtown... but keeping the downtown full of small buildings until the city is large enough to warrant taller ones.
No offence meant but i think its boring to do that...

Then you obviously don't get what he's trying to do. He's trying to create Edmonton as close to the real thing as he can, including the downtown buildings. This isn't your typical city journal.

I was wondering if you could allow me a zoomed in view of the Borden Park/Highlands/Wayne Gretzky Area (my current area of residence)...

It would make me oh so very happy...

Congratulations on a job very well done this far... If I had any amount of patience I would be inspired by this to do my own map...

It's not if I should change it
Its more should I change it to this color or is it a bit off? Should it be lighter or more navy.....a little more brown....Or is it perfect?

I like the dark water much better.  It does look more realistic, compared to the lighter color.
Those are great pictures, btw.  It really makes me want to visit Edmonton.19.gif

    He m8,

I was reading through your CJ and than I saw the development of the Coronation Park or whatever its called (I'm dutch so I don't know anything of Edmonton). I saw you placed the soccer stadium at the spot of the Coronation Field.... I think this sportsfield (check the link) would suit much better with reality.

BTW nice region!! Really like the roadlayout... looks very good in region view almost like there are curved roads...

    Keep it up!!
