Rules:

In addition to the Site Guidelines, while using this forum you must:

  • Remain on the topic of the thread you are posting on.
  • Do not use foul or obscene language.
  • Do not critisize a person's sexuality, religion, race, culture, ideas, or opinions. While it is alright to disagree with somebody, it is not alright to personally attack another member.
  • Do not display hatred towards a specific country, race, religion, gender, government, group, or sexuality will not be tolerated. If you do have hateful opinions, please keep them to yourself.
  • Treat other people [religions, cultures, beliefs, races, etc.] the way you would want your self [religion, culture, beliefs, race, etc.] to be treated.

Please note: While political and religious discussions are typically not allowed on the site, the Current Events forum is an exception to that rule. The Current Events forum is being treated as an experiment to see if political and religious conversations can be held on Simtropolis in a civilized and mature manner.

About double-posting: While it is generally not allowed to make consecutive posts by the same user on the rest of the site, the Current Events forum admits some exceptions, particularly if the issue changes, if there is a reasonable time-lapse between them or if new and relevant information (unavailable at the time of the first post) is being added. Moderators shall evaluate any double-posting situation in line with this exceptions, and merge the ones that does not match with them.

Thanks and have fun!

Excellent, 91!

Hopefully these rules will assist people in having civilized discussions about these topics.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Brilliant new rules, Addie!

And, guys, if you are unsure if your reply is acceptable, just check back here for reference. 19.gif

It means we can talk politics and religion here, as long as we keep it civil, so why is rule 8 of the Forum Rules page is still isted. It seems to conflict with each other.

This is just a reminder to people who visit and take part of the discussions in the Current Events forum:

Recently, certain threads haven't been following the current events rules. Many threads are veering off topic, people are being discriminated based on what country they're from, and obscene language is being used.

We cannot afford to break these rules in the threads and get the privilege of argument taken away from us in the forum. Since the other forums don't allow controversial disscusion and this one does, let's keep it that way by reminding ourselves of the Current Events rules.

Thank you for your time!

Just to clearify, the two-post rule is not part of this forum. If it were, it would have been posted here. Does that mean you can spam here? Absolutely not. I simply wanted to clearify on that confusion.

It seems like the past few weeks especially in the current events forum, lots of threads are being locked, edited or archived. The main reason for this is obviously that people are not familiarizing themselves with the rules of the forum. You can read my post from 4/16/2007 above, it's basically the same thing.

1) Keep discussion friendly, and don't personally attack anyone. I've been seeing this around the forum a lot the past few weeks, and we need to remind ourselves that personally attacking others is not condoned here.

2) Keeping on topic. Probably the main reason why I'm writing this post right now; lots of threads the past few weeks have been going so far off topic that we needed to dispose of them. Just stay on the topic of the thread. 2.gif

Thanks
