Hi Again,

prince_of_sims:  I did read through the topic before I posted, and tried the suggestion of wouanagaine before he went on RL hiatus.  He wasn't sure what the problem was, but I attempted what he suggested and it was unsuccessful.

I even unzipped the library.zip file and installed it in the installation directory, but the program didn't recognize it, so that looks to be a dead end too.

If it is a corrupted zip file, shouldn't Winrar log errors trying to use the archive?

I checked and saw that I have all the Microsoft .NET updates I'm supposed to have, so that isn't that issue either.

Is there anything else I can try before wouangaine's return that you or others might suggest?

As an aside, I believe I had the same message (initially) as embersofme, if his error message looked like this:

ScreenHunter_1.jpg

This was the message that prefaced the problem.  The contents of the logfile you already know.

Anyhow, let me know if anyone has any other suggestions of things I might try.  I'd love to be able to use this program...someday.

Thx

I am also having the same issue as thatsarap. The trace seems to indicate that the zip is fine, though?

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "SC4Terraformer.py", line 1, in ?

File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 78, in load_module

File "SC4TerraformerApp.pyo", line 3, in ?

File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 91, in load_module

ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading tools3D.pyd

(SC4TerraformerApp.pyo is in the zip, and it appears to be trying to load tools3D.pyd)

A couple notes with my setup though... I'm running on Server 2003 (R2), and am using an older graphics driver for performance reasons (nvidia 44.03)

three questions.

1.Can i use the terraformer on a region i already has started to play with? for example if i want to extend the region and adds some pixels in the config, can i then open the map in SC4 Terraformer and fix the terrain there?

2. If yes at the first question; If i change the terrain in an city i already has built stuff in, will it ruin the whole city or just the parts i change? I build the map on an island so there's no land that just goes straight out in simland and i have plans to add a new island to the region but to do that i need to add a small land strip for a bridge at the edge of a city i has build in.

3. Is there a tool like the harbour tool but that i can set how high the land will be? with the harbour tool i get it 0.5m over sealevel but i want it somewhere around 100m. All other tools i have seen works in circles, i want it i squares.

1. Yes. just remember to lock any cities that you don't want the terraformer to touch.

2. If you terraform an already built city, the chances are not great that you will loose all building in the city. what happens most often is that the existing development stays at the same level that it was, while the terrain is now different. i wouldn't suggest you try it because this isn't proven.

3. Use the Draw Tool. Refer to the readme on how to use it. just select the Square Brush when terraforming.

thatsawrap and embersofme, please run the Debug version of the program and look at the command line screen. if you can, post a screenshot of it. or you could post the last few lines of the code.

2. If i only change the terrain in the water in an built city, where there's no building, nothing will crash?

3. hm.. i though that didnt work, i have memories of trying other tools and they worked in circles even when i had square selected. I'll try again.

Also in my SC4 Terraformer file, there was a "Library" folder that was zipped, so I tried unzipping it, and a message popped up saying it was invalid or corrupt. So maybe there is something wrong with the "Library" Folder?

Wouanagaine have actually done some further testing of the SC4 Terraformer and terraforming in built cities. What tends to happen is what prince_of_sims said. The buildings stay at the level they were grown or plopped at and the terrain changes. One thing we tested was terraforming a river and then building a brigde and then terraforming again to remove the river and get a land bridge. This worked quite well, you still cant draw anything under the bridge but you can still create the bridge and then remove the river and all will be well with the bridge.

Interesting update! After installing Visual Studio 2005, I do not get the "ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading tools3D.pyd" error any more. I have yet to restart, even.

most likely cause was that you were missing a file required by SC4TF that VS2005 installed on your system.

embersofme

the Library.zip is not a true ZIP archive. that's why it wont open in any unzipper program. it's just a library of information that the program can draw from whenever needed. just because an unzipper says it's a corrupt zip doesn't mean the file is actually corrupt.

nevir's unexpected solution gave me an idea. have you downloaded and installed the DLL file that is mentioned in the readme?
