    Alright, here's the next update!

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    CHAPTER 12-DOWN THE ROAD

New development has just begun down the road. I was yearning to build another airport, but Liz has discouraged me, saying that Fairfax County Municipal is only a 1/2 hour drive away. Looks like I'll have to utiilize my persuasive powers sooner than I expected...

Anyways, Newton County is already blossoming. Instead of the many small town style of building featured in Fairfax County, Liz has opted for one large town, obviously called Newton. The county is full of natural beauty.
    newtonmay190011149049943ki.jpg

The inaugural settlement, Newton, is currently growing rapidly. Welcome to Newton, pop. 66!
    newtonmar280011149048207nf.jpg

Not really much to show here yet but the farms. Newton Agroponics is the biggest employer, with 35% of the workforce centered at NA.
    newtonapr140011149048594kx.jpg

Chandler Farms produces cotton, and is famous because they fly in Mexicans every summer to work in the fields. Note: I just hid a pop culture reference, if you're a fan of John Grisham books, you should figure this one out.
    newtonapr270011149049016tf.jpg

And, last but not least, Annie's Okra is making a huge profit, because Sue's bought almost the entire field for Southern Week, where she cooks foods from the Deep South all week. Most ordered item: fried okra. Thus, Annie just might get that convertible she always wanted...
    newtonmay40011149049232fe.jpg

And that's Newton for now. Come back soon!

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Hope you like the update! I will give a bunny to whoever can guess which specific user made all 3 farms featured in this update! Happy bunny-hunting!

P.S. We recently passed 3000 views, so thanks to all the replyees and lurkers who like this CJ!

YAH: Thanks! Don't worry, I plan on having Newton covering almost all of the county, as one singular town. I just used the hamlet style for Fairfax, although I suppose it could make a comeback later...Thanks for commenting!

bobinator: Yes, I am using CD's mod, the older version, since the STEX files are corrupted. Do you like the effect? Thanks for commenting!

SSM: Glad you like the storyline, and thanks for commenting! Hope to see you back in Airplane soon enough!

You're saying Newton is going to be one large town. That means we will see it develop more? That would be great! I am very curious on how you would integrate the growth of this town into the storyline!

sloppet: Thanks! Glad you like the recent updates, thanks for commenting!

KOSC: Thanks for the welcome, and I agree, I think this CJ is growing faster than any of us expected! Thanks for commenting!

dhoppeii: A bunny for you, sir! 35.gif Thanks for commenting and always supporting me, you are so devoted, I will have to reward you and a few choice other members...

FullStrength: Not as large as you might think, but the population should be over 5000, for sure.

All: Maybe an update tomorrow, with more development in Newton. Thanks for your continued support, we're getting awfully close to 200 replies...

Meister: Thanks! I've never even tasted okra, but that's what the field's listed as growing, so...thanks for always commenting! I think you're in the same category as dhop: long-time follower, and I appreciate that more than you can imagine.

I think that would be a great idea! I like the Sun Valley region as it is now, but I've said this in other CJs, CD's mod changes the game's raw visual representation, and it i a must-have.

Hey RadioheadFan, as you know i like your journal...but lately, you have been showing some far away shots...those would have to be some personal favorites of mine. yeah, seeing the sprawling metropoliseseseseses are nice, and seeing the sprawling farmland is nice - but it is very refreshing to see some very small communities tucked away, hidden in forests.

ah, and the forests add a very nice touch, don't they. The recent tree mods have added so much to our terrains, have they not.

i'd also like to go back a couple of pages, where FullStrenght provided a picture of his hometown (which looks very much like one of your SimCity towns), as well as a link for aerial photos. i would like to thank FullStrenght for that, as well - many of those angles are perfect for the game, and a quick look at the site have given me many ideas already.

    keep up the great work.

Some close up pictures would mix up good with the region shots, as someone mentioned before.

    @ Mr Cinatit: No problem!

MrCinatit: Wow, thanks! I always love seeing comments from someone who has been one of my main sources of inspiration! I'm glad you like the far-away shots, I like them too. It is rather cool to see that tiny piece of civilization hiiden deep within the pines...

As many others before you have mentioned, CD's mod has changed the game on its raw, untamed visual level. I'm glad you like what I've done with the mod.

Thank you so much for your comments, they mean so much to me.

jacqulina: Thanks! Glad you like the detail, and congrats on your 1000th post!

helomoto: Ah, another person who likes the farm shots! Glad you like them, and thanks for commenting!

FullStrength: Don't worry, there will be more close-up shots, but there were some in the last update. There will be more in the future, trust me.

Congrats on reaching 200 RHF. So far, I like Fairfax County the most. Very realistic and nice looking. As far as the towns go, you've made great improvements from Thistlewood. I should comment in here more, but I just don't get the time to. Great job. 10.gif

comdude21: Nice to see you back from your trip and commenting! I agree, I've made leaps and bounds since Thistlewood, both in writing skill and city-building skill, and as a member of ST in general. Glad you like Fairfax County, and hope to see you around here more often!

FullStrength: I hope we won't have to worry about that...

All: Update should be out tonight or tomorrow, there's been a major population boom in Newton, and you'll get to see the results of that. Also, the few members I mentioned will get their special treat...

And by the way, since nobody guessed yet, the pop culture reference in the last update was from the John Grisham novel A Painted House. The family featured in the novel is the Chandlers, they farm cotton, and their farm workers are Mexicans. Just thought I'd let you know...

All: As I said above, update tomorrow, on the growth of Newton. ETA-6pm/8pm EST.

I know, I know, a lot earlier than the ETA, but I got up early and decided to put the time to good use!

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    CHAPTER 13-THE COUNCIL MOVES IN

Wow, there's been a lot happening down in the floodplains lately! First, they elected a regional council that delegates on all sorts of matters.

    Minister of Finance: kingofsimcity

    Minister of Transportation: bobinator

    Minister of Agriculture: dhoppeii

    Minister of Recreation: FullStrength

Minister of Environment/Natural Resources: SC4 Meister

Their head offices are going to be in Newton, but haven't been constructed yet. Supposedly, their building is going to be the tallest in the entire region, anywhere from 5-15 stories!

Anyways, Newton has experienced rapid growth since we last visited. Population is now 2300, and that number is expected to rise even more, to about 4000, then level out.
    newtonjun51211150834849df.jpg

Downtown is now a beacon of supremacy, with modern office buildings and high quality deals being done. This is where the Regional Council's offices will be built.
    newtonjun51211150836319sl.jpg

Our offices are located downtown, in a 3-story masterpiece. OK, maybe masterpiece is a little strong, but you get the picture. I once had to stay here over a week for business, and once I got home to Fairfax, Elizabeth was on me like butter on toast. Maybe I should take some more business trips...
    newtonjun51211150837173rs.jpg

As always, I drove around and took some pics of farms that I like. Big Al grows many different varieties of apples, and his lot is to be envied: beautiful house, beautiful field, it doesn't get any better.
    newtonjun51211150837999by.jpg

This farm has a very interestingly styled house, and grows a very interesting crop-brushland. I couldn't tell you why, so decide for yourself!
    newtonjun51211150839446zr.jpg

And, even though this technically isn't a farm, I'll show it anyways. The Newton Industrial Park is the first of its kind in the region, and has provided 600 industrial jobs to residents of Newton. It's mostly a mix of dirty industry and manufacturing plants, so not that nice to look at, but interesting to see nonetheless.
    newtonjun51211150839704xd.jpg

    -----------------------------------------------------------

And that's the update! Hope you guys like it, be sure to leave a comment, they're really appreciated!
