when you could just go around it

That's an idea, use one-way roads.

I think you should just use one-way roads without the arrows, I should be less expensive, if you want more capacity you can do the same thing as you can with an avenue with a highway.

What's the problem? They just drag through like any crossing.

If you mean with GLR, you have to make those just like shown in the "tutorial".. they are built exactly the same way as he did with the road, but use whatever crossing you want.. Crossing puzzle pieces exist for almost every transport type.

If you mean the "gap" in the avenue, you have to use one-way segments before you make the avenue crossing.. In fact anytime you find a place where you need to "work through" with the half avenues, you must use one-way segments as you cannot do many things with it that you can with the non-split avenue.

I'm referring to the ground highway (which can also get split in half), it would be nice to have a set of puzzle pieces for elevating an avenue/road over those!

the avenues have higher capacity's than 2 one way roads do.  If capacity isn't a  problem, then  2 one ways is much easier.

What I would personally do is wait. Your thinking huh? Well if your roads are congested then start addinb bus stops at major intersections. If they get congested then convert them into one way roads. That way you can limit movement. If this doesn't solve the problem then you have two options. One is build a bypass nearby or you could build an avenue through the congestion. However I would personally stick with a bypass and of course building Mass Transit. But if you feel the need for green then toll the roads with the toll boots. Your sims will try to find another way. Hopefully that helps.

OMG it worked! and it looks awesome! I even split a highway and put a 2 way HOV lane in between...and now it looks like a freeway that you'd see in houston or dallas...the only thing is i cannot connect the HOV lanes to the freeway via one way roads...so i'm thinking about leaving it in the center and connecting downtown to suburbia with the HOV lanes for buses only...

Man this games just gets better and better...more realistic thanks to this site...you guys are some awesome nerds...

JK....

HOV is high-occupancy vehicle lane; lanes reserved for vehicles carrying multiple passengers, not just a driver travelling solo. Car-poolers, buses, etc. Definition can depend on the jurisdiction.
