Dude, I've just discovered your truely excellent and then you're gonna obliterate the whole thing!

But I understand, I'm sure I would be extremely pissed if this problem would happen to me. I think the only solution would be that you remove all your plug-ins and then you reinstall them one by one and check if everything is fine each time.

But you seem to have a lot of plugins, just like me (I have almost 700 Mb of plugins), so it would be a titanic task that I wouldn't recommand you at all. Your problem surely arise from conflicts between some plugins. I don't know since when you noticed your problem but try uninstalling all the plugins you installed since you noticed it.

If you downloaded a lot of Japanese plugins, try removing them, because they were created in Japenese and we have a non-Japanese game sometimes it seems to do weird things to the game. I use them with caution in my case.

Anyway, my point is : if your problem is, like I said, created by conflicting plugins, then even if you obliterate your region and start another one, your problem won't be solved and it'll very possible that you'll encounter the same problem again and again.

I'm only guessing so I can't say for sure if I'm wrong or not, but I wish you that I am.

My second point is : why obliterating your region? Just remove it from your region folder and put it somewhere else in your computer because if you ever find out what was the problem and solve it, you'll be very happy to have kept your cities. It doesn't that much space on the hard drive, just keep it somewhere safe.

So I wish you good luck and hope things will get fixed soon. I also want to add again that your CJ is (was) excellent and that you've done a great job! 44.gif

    MayorTim: Thanks anyway for the support and encouragement.  It means alot.  Hopefully I can save Lattica.
    helomoto: Walmart's taking over the world, but you can't help but love (and hate) them.  Thanks!
    Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya: Good Idea!  Thank you Thank you Thank you!  Lucky for me I did back up the old Lattica before obliterating it (just in case).  And so I will get to work tonight, going through my most recent plugins until I get to the root of the problem.  Keep your fingers crossed.  It would be so amazing if I didn't have to start over!
    GLENNI: you have no idea how frustrating this has been, but I'm glad you like Lattica.  Let's hope I can bring it back.
    jacqulina: We'll see!
    mentarman: Thanks for the support.
    Everyone: Thanks for the support.  Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya came up with the good idea to go through my plugins, which is a daunting task but I'm up for it.  So I'll be going through that over the next day or so.  So that means the next response from me will be one of two things: 1. An Update and continuation of this city journal or 2. the rebuilding of Lattica (which will continue in this thread).  So keep your fingers crossed.  I'm working on it!  See ya next time.

    The River City Returns

    Sorry.  I couldn't wait to share the good news with you guys.  Problem cleared up!  Look for the original cj to continue on as planned!  Updates to follow soon.

    topcliff: You are a genius!  Thank you so much!  It turned out that the new NDEX Parking Lots were the root of the problem...and I plopped them in three new shopping centers!  I loved those BATs.  Oh well, they've got to go.  I made a post about the problem in hopes that they will be revamped.  topcliff, Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya, I owe you guys big time.  You saved The River City!

    I'm happy that we won't lost your great cities and glad that I could help you with this. 19.gif

    Ok, so now you owe me 400$, I accept Paypal.

    hehe j/k

    I've downloaded those NDEX parking lots but I've not used them yet. So I'll use them with caution and make sure I have all the most up-to-date dependancies. Imagine the horror if you had deleted all your region and started another one without solving the problem; you would still be in the same situation.

    So I can't wait to see this CJ continuing normally!

    Great work on this city. It's great to see that you've managed to fix your problems, congrats.

    It's interesting looking at Lattica. My region currently has a similar population to Lattica's metro area, and yet it's completely different. It's a wee bit more spread out, I think, but it also has areas that are considerably more dense (check out my CJ, link in sig).

    My freeway network is far less dense (except in one area, the 'triangle'). Mind, at least one more is proposed, and mass transit is also a major thing in Twin Harbour.

    Of course, one has to consider our different inspirations - I'm inspired by the road layouts of Australian cities (which tend to have fewer freeways, but nearly as much sprawl. Sydney's traffic, as a result, is horrendous. In peak hour (our name for rush hour) it can apparently take 40 minutes to cross the CBD (Central Business District).

    Anyhow, best of luck with this. I'm about to update my CJ on the airport (hey, it's a national capital!)

    You're never going to believe this.  After going back to working on Lattica normally, and after about 4 saves later, trees are beginning to disappear again!  Only it's it's not as bad as the first time.  So I'm assuming that the NDEX lots didn't cause the problem...they only made it worse maybe?  I'm truly stumped on this one.  The city behaves normally for a couple of days and then the problem starts back up again.  My computer is playing a very very cruel joke on me.

    I removed all plugins that were installed between the end of June and now...more than enough to restore the city to working order, but the glitch remains (although not as bad as when the NDEX lots were installed).

    Lattica's lying on its death bed.  I'm doing what I can to save it (again) but things are looking bleak.  Who wants to write its obituary?  8.gif

    ugh this sucks

    computers can be damn too frustrating sometimes (most the time in fact 32.gif)

    I don't really know how we could help now, so I'll just wish you that you don't lose your patience trying to find out what the problem is then smash your computer in pieces (which I would I've done probably if I was you 18.gif)

    I've you tried uninstalling the trees plugins and the other ones that disapear (or is it all the custom lots/bats that disapear?).

    Everyone: Thanks for the support, the help and the advice.  Sadly, I have decided to rebuild the city from scratch.  Updates will now resume as normal.  I apologize for having to start such a great city over again, and I hope that you all don't lose interest in The River City.  Thanks for following Lattica as it grew from a small town to young metropolis.  But now it's time for a new beginning so welcome back to Lattica!
    ______________________________________________________________________________________
    Rebuilding The River City

    I have decided to rebuild Lattica from scratch.  While this new beginning follows the sad loss of my favortie city (yep, I loved Lattica even more than Caspen), this is the time to make Lattica better.  Lattica will not re-emerge in the exact same form as its previous version.  The city core has been shifted, the highway layout will be slightly modified, and the city will grow more in a north-south fashion along the river.  I am encouraging comments and suggestions at this time more than ever as the city begins to take shape.  I have decided to continue the new city in the same thread.  Afterall, it is the same city.  It also makes it easier for us to refer back to the old city and see how far the new one has come.  Once again, thanks for hanging in there and welcome back!

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/826/19ag.jpg align=baseline>
    The new Lattica is all about efficient transportation, and Downtown will be a regional transportation hub.

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2935/28ta.jpg align=baseline>
    As Lattica's core is now located on the opposite side of the river, I-10 will serve as Downtown's main thoroughfare.

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/7353/35cj.jpg align=baseline>
    No longer just another natural feature, The River City is going to use the Chastain River to enchance its beauty.  Lattica will grow along the river's shores...a gleaming skyline will stretch along the river's edge north to south.

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9290/40ch.jpg align=baseline>
    Something else Lattica has never seen before: Rapid Transit.  Elevated Rails will aid sims in their commute from the suburbs to the city, while the Subway system will mobilize sims in Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown.

    align=baseline>
    Uptown will rise again as one of the classiest districts in SimNation.

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5660/62bu.jpg align=baseline>
    Steep banks...a winding river...sky bridges...metro rails....Lattica will be a rare blend of natural beauty and urban form.

    Now is the time that I want suggestions more than ever.  We now have a blank slate where anything is possible.  What do you want to see in downtown Lattica?  What was missing in the old city that could be introduced here?  I'm not the best at developing dense urban areas, but with a little help I'd like the new Lattica's urban areas to be just as attractive and realistic as its suburban areas.  See ya next time.

    Hmm, again: make sure you've got the latest version of the NDEX Essentials file installed.

    Otherwise... the New Lattica looks approximately the same as Old Lattica...

    A hint: maybe get an On-Slope piece for that highway and fix it up (where the road intersects with the highway). Also, for the transisition between the first and second tiers, maybe use the rural stone walls rather than the residental ones? The second/third tiers are fine. Also, maybe a less dense network of avenues now that the CBD's going to be more spread out along the river? Also, what about a nice strip of parkland along the river on one side? (just smooth out the tiers as such, and have trees, etc) Trust me, that will look great.

    Shadow_Assassin: The latest version of NDEX Essentials was installed (before and after the glitch).  There was a little bit of work done on I-10.  I added some exits and removed others.  I think this time I'll do without rural stone in the city...for some reason they just don't look right to me anymore (even on the first tier).  So far the new Lattica has a less dense network of avenues and even though that may put a strain on inner-city traffic it'll be cool to see all those traffic jams!  Now a strip of parkland sounds like an amazing idea.  I was planning to develop and densely populated suburban area to the west of river.  We'll see what happens...it's time to try my hand at parks anyway.  Thanks for the advice!
    MissTonya: Thank you and I'm glad you like the homes.
    Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya: Uninstalling the plugins didn't help the matter.  And I agree, computers can be a pain sometimes.
    cammo2003: That's a beautiful cj you have going.  And yes, my network of highways was pretty dense...I guess it's an american thing??
    jacqulina: As always, thank you and I'm looking forward to more too.
    U.S.K.C.: Thank you.
    Deathtoall: Imageshack is probably being mean again.
    sirgeoj2: Thanks.  There's more funky highway work to come!

    A New Beginning

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/244/12qm1.jpg align=baseline>
    Lattica's back!

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9426/23wd.jpg align=baseline>
    Lattica's downtown is somewhat unique.  The city's most dense core runs along the east banks of the Chastain River.

    align=baseline>
    Offices tower over the water, making for some great views.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9923/40ho1.jpg align=baseline>
    Lattica is developing in a unique way.  All of the city's tallest buildings run along Riverwatch Pkwy...and the skyline will stretch northward through Uptown.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2782/50qy.jpg align=baseline>
    The Capital District:  Surprise!  Lattica, known for its progressive nature and its will to survive, the city was recently chosen to serve as Hemstead's state capital.

    align=baseline>
    The Capital Monument was built for sims to reflect and remember the thousands of lives lost to Lattica's obliteration.  Each monument represents a point in time for Lattica (the city's past, present, and future).

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8697/79ez.jpg align=baseline>
    The Hemstead Capital building overlooks I-10.  Anyone have any ideas on what to the with the vacant land bordering the highway?

    align=baseline>
    Capitol Avenue serves as one of the main thoroughfares in the Downtown area.

    align=baseline>
    Lattica may be new, but the Capital District opted to use classical architecture.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9878/106zd.jpg align=baseline>
    Many politicians, city officials and bureaucrats live in the nearby condominiums and townhouses.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2576/114kv.jpg align=baseline>
    It's a pretty quaint intown neighborhood.

    <ahttp://img344.imageshack.us/img344/4577/123wo.jpg align=baseline>
    South Lattica: the part of town where the tourists don't go.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1333/132dg.jpg align=baseline>
    Behind the elegant Omni Hotel lies one of the poorest communities in all of SimNation.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2590/142eh.jpg align=baseline>
    The intersection of Alden Road and Riverwatch Parkway is one of the busiest in the city.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9757/156xo.jpg align=baseline>
    Despite appearances, South Lattica is a pretty quiet place to live.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9554/161lt.jpg align=baseline>
    And it wouldn't be Lattica without the highways!  You're looking at I-10 as it enters Downtown.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8287/179bn.jpg align=baseline>
    Two new exits like this one were built to prevent future congestion on Downtown's roads.

    <ahttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4737/188zn.jpg align=baseline>
    What does the future hold for Lattica?  Hopefully the city can restore itself the the booming metropolis it once was.

    Thanks for visiting The River City.

    Lovely. Let's hope the land value rises. I especially like that goverment district, [esp. the monuments]. Maybe that vacant land could be a strip of high-wealth stores, or a trail system?

    Consider this a pseudo-update.  There's not really much to show off but I thought I'd show you the progress.  Development has crossed the river onto the west side of the county.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/6187/12wo.jpg align=baseline>
    Lattica continues to grow at a slow and steady pace, but it's still got a long way to go.

    Another new intown neighborhood.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/4332/77cp.jpg align=baseline>
    Here are the beginnings of West Lattica.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/6744/89fg.jpg align=baseline>
    The west bank of the Chastain River will be kept in its natural form.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/8923/96eq.jpg align=baseline>
    Suburban offices surround the I-10/I-65 interchange.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/3762/102nn.jpg align=baseline>
    Offices are sprouting up west of the city because of cheaper land, easier access and smoother traffic.

    <ahttp://img283.imageshack.us/img283/8997/115kb.jpg align=baseline>
    Some suburban strip shops for the west side.

    Overall, a good update, the sculpture looks good there, bit ah, packed, though?

    jacqulina: I'm glad you like it.
    Shadow_Assassin: Thanks! I'm glad you liked that last picture, but the road doesn't go under that bridge (yet)...but it will very soon.  Packed, huh?  I'm glad you think so.  That was exactly what I was going for.  I want Lattica's core to look dense at the least...then become more sprawling farther away from the core.  I plopped a lot of skyscrapers in the next update, just to give you a feel of the city's densest parts.  I'll be spreading it out in future updates.
    GLENNI: Thank you so much.  I think this is the first time someone has ever called my downtown area realistic!  Developing inner-city areas was always my weak area so it means a lot that you like it.
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/5192/intro2dt.jpg align=baseline>
    Consider this a milestone update.  Lattica's finally showing signs of becoming a successful city.  The city is certainly beginning to show some character, and the different neighborhoods are distinctive in their look and feel.  So here's a quick look at the River City as it begins to grow up.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/1935/13yu.jpg align=baseline>
    The city's skyline runs along the east banks of the Chastain River.  Nearly all of Lattica's tallest buildings are located near Riverwatch Pkwy., making it the busiest street in the entire region.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/1378/29lw.jpg align=baseline>
    Downtown Lattica

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/742/37kh.jpg align=baseline>
    Downtown has an interesting mix of classic and post modern architecture.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/8457/46pn.jpg align=baseline>
    Several corporations are flocking to downtown to establish their headquarters.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/9883/59ph.jpg align=baseline>
    South Lattica remains a deteriorated part of the city.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/9281/67rn.jpg align=baseline>
    Midtown is a unique blend of Downtown's diversity and density with Uptown's elegance.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/9687/71oz.jpg align=baseline>
    Uptown: the Beverly Hills of Hemstead.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/401/82vh.jpg align=baseline>
    Despite being away from the city's core, Uptown living has its perks.  Hip condominiums, nightclubs and upscale spas are just the beginning.  Uptown also makes use of LATA, the city's mass transit bus, elevated rail and subway service...and even a new mall is in the works.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/5092/99to.jpg align=baseline>
    Originally planned as a suburb: West Lattica is shaping up to become another urban hub.

    <ahttp://img317.imageshack.us/img317/3303/107zc.jpg align=baseline>
    West Lattica is seeking incorporation.  Sims living on this side of town want West Lattica to become an independent city its own city government.  As the area continues to grow, sims know that leaving West Lattica as an unincorporated suburb is not an option.

    So tell me what you think.  Should West Lattica become an incorporated city or should it be annexed into Lattica?

    I say incorporate West Lattica, to make it a sort of lesser city to the greater Lattica. The new city is looking great. Your transportation networks are excellent as always, especially your use of non-freeway dual carriageways, like Capitol Ave or Riverwatch Pkwy, as major arterials.
