Your city is great, it does in fact look very realistic. It looks like a cross between Baltimore and D.C!

I also think west Lattica should be incorporated. Make it like a secondary hub of commerce, like (Sorry to use a Maryland example again) Rockville is to D.C

Your highways are great! Is all of that from the STEX? the only one I know is the sunken highways pack.

Wonderful update, where did you get those parks (not the obelisc) the ones around the capitol area, the ones that have pines.

    oroen: Thanks so much!  I can always count on the trusty roadgeek to appreciate my highway/road work.  And good idea about West Lattica...we'll see how it goes.
    Simguyuk: Thanks.  And it's always a compliment to have your city compared to a real one....and yes, everything is from the STEX.  I'm glad you like the highways.
    Traffic_Jam: Thank you.  Woohoo...Page 7!  That reminds me, Lattica is now my longest-running CJ.  Hooray! 39.gif
    jacqulina: Thanks.  The highway walls took a lot of time but they were worth it.
    Jerebannus XVI: The parks (fences and trails) came from Jeronij's collection in the STEX .
    Everyone: Wow.  That was a bigger-than-usual response.  Thanks for all the comments and suggestions...and now onto the next update.

    West Lattica:
    The Second City to be Incorporated; lands new airport
    The votes have been tallied and the residents of West Lattica have decided to incorporate the city.  The incorporation of West Lattica calls for a series of changes: more schools, police precincts, a new government complex, etc., but the new city is up for the challenge.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/9873/10kf1.jpg align=baseline>
    As you can see, West Lattica is still a relatively small city, but it's now the faster growing of the two.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/3325/26fr.jpg align=baseline>
    Like most modern suburban cities that strike it big, West Lattica lacks a downtown...but the dense core of the city is gaining in population.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7537/36ec.jpg align=baseline>
    Farther west, construction crews are laying out West Davidson Parkway, another divided avenue that will run north to south, connecting various parts of West Lattica.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/3887/48sv.jpg align=baseline>
    In typical Lattica fashion, whenever a major route is paved, retail follows.

    West Lattica Lands New Airport, Another Victory for New City
    Call it luck, but West Lattica was fortunate to have such open spaces.  Lattica needed an airport and builders selected the southwest portion of Davidson County to build it.  West Lattica expects the new airport to draw millions of simoleons in tax money and spur an increase in new businesses and local hotels.

    The new Lattica International Airport

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/2694/64fz1.jpg align=baseline>
    The massive airport means more business and growth for The River City.

    Wayfinding signs help sims find the proper terminal and airline.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/1064/118pc.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7485/120gv.jpg align=baseline>
    The Lattica International Airport has modern state-of-the-art facilities.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/5444/133le.jpg align=baseline>
    The Airport makes full use of the LATA system.  Subway and Bus services connect to the airport.  The eastside of the airport has short-term & gold parking, a subway station, bus depot, and the airport police station.

    <ahttp://img108.imageshack.us/img108/269/144ao.jpg align=baseline>
    The airport has a perimeter road that loops around the entire area.  The west side of the airport has long-term & value parking, as well as a local bus depot that shuttles sims to the main terminal.

    Well I do love that airport but... er... well lets just say that I would hope my plane had VERY good brakes. 2.gif

    Did you consider using Joergs airport pack? I can see why you might want to keep the airport small, but Joergs is way more realistic.

    jacqulina: Thank you.
    newyorkrunaway1:  Thanks!  Some of my best ideas come to me while playing SC4 into the wee hours of the morning.
    alexr15: Thanks, I thought the signs would help spruce up the otherwise plain airport a bit.
    GingerBlokey: Let's hope no planes run into the stone walls. 18.gif
    Traffic_Jam: Glad you like it!
    jt_144_2004: Thanks so much.
    MayorTim:  We'll just assume the planes have super brakes...they can stop on a dime. 2.gif  Yes, I not only considered Joerg's airport pack, I played around with it for a very long time.  Sadly, the airports ended up being too large and I could never get the control tower to show up.  I agree with you, the Maxis airport isn't very realistic but it is compact.
     Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya: Thank you very much!  I'm glad you like the new Lattica so far.  I'll try my best to keep things interesting, just let me know if I start to bore you.
    johnboy12: I'm glad you like it...and I do miss the old Lattica.  If there's huge plot of blank land then there's a very good chance that I'm leaving it blank so I can develop it later.  Any spaces that were intentionally left blank will be filled with cycledogg's beautiful trees.
    Dark_Jedi06: Thanks!
    jacqulina: Here's another update for ya...
    Everyone: WOW.  Thanks for such a massive response.  Sorry it's been a while since the last update.  Changes this time are more evolutionary rather than revolutionary, so don't expect anything too exciting...just the slow but steady re-growth of the new Lattica.  Here goes...
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/945/19cs.jpg align=baseline>
    Lattica's been facing sort of an inner-battle these days.  As West Lattica and Uptown continue to see larger influxes of sims, the core of the city remains nearly unchanged.  So as sims continue to flock to the western and northern portions of Davidson County, planners are quietly devising a plan to put Downtown back in the spotlight.

    West Lattica Continues to Grow, Makes Serious Bid for Suburban Domination
    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4456/27gg.jpg align=baseline>
    West Lattica is growing rapidly and is showing no signs of stopping.  Its sims now number in the tens of thousands, and its population is beginning to rival that of its urban counterpart across the river.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4355/33br.jpg align=baseline>
    At the corner of Westside Drive and the Southwest Expressway lies the new City Hall.  Nearby lies West Lattica's new hospital and police headquarters.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4783/48rz.jpg align=baseline>
    Suburban growth has spread all the way to the airport.  West Lattica is pretty densely packed for a suburban city.  Houses are very close together and lots are typically very small.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/3536/50yu.jpg align=baseline>
    Westside Academy is a large magnet school that serves the city.  West Lattica's school system is now bigger than Lattica's own system, which is proof that West Lattica is the preferred place to settle for families.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1153/61wz.jpg align=baseline>
    West Davidson Parkway is shaping up to be the largest retail hub in the entire county.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1988/71gc.jpg align=baseline>
    The new Lattica Mall is ironically not even located in Lattica, but it still draws a huge crowd.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/2168/87qn.jpg align=baseline>
    Even though West Lattica is growing into an important city in its own right, it is still nothing more than a glorified bedroom community.  A majority of the city's sims commute to work across the river.

    Lattica Looks to Attract Sims Back to the City
    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/3711/94oi.jpg align=baseline>
    As Lattica fears that its growing suburb will someday be more popular than the main city itself, it's looking for ways to attract sims back to the city.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1851/104te.jpg align=baseline>
    There was a height limit for building to be built around the Capital District, but the city recently recently raised the height limit in hopes of attracting more high-rise apartments.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/3544/114yp.jpg align=baseline>
    The city recently purchased hundreds of acres and developed a massive high-tech industrial park.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/2025/127wf.jpg align=baseline>
    City leaders expect the park to open up new housing markets on the west side of the river.

    Uptown Lands New Stadiums, Steals Some of Downtown's Shine
    align=baseline>
    Uptown has always had a reputation for being THE place to live, but it's now also earning a reputation for being THE place to play.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/6528/145ip1.jpg align=baseline>
    New pro baseball and football stadiums were constructed along the river, which is sure to tie up traffic along Northside Drive & I-65 during every game day.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7186/159bw.jpg align=baseline>
    Even more hotels and condominiums are springing up in Lattica's trendy Uptown District.

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/9251/167mz.jpg align=baseline>
    The nightlife in Uptown is getting even better.  More shops and more clubs mean more fun.  Every night sims take to the streets of Uptown for parties and fun.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________

    <ahttp://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4416/179bi.jpg align=baseline>
    After the devastating obliteration of The 'Old' River City, it seems that the new Lattica may have a bright and successful future ahead of it.  As long as the big three powerhouses (West Lattica, Downtown, & Uptown) continue to compete for sims and their simoleons, growth in all three sectors of the area should continue.

    Nice comprehensive update on the big three 9.gif. Good for an all-at-once comparison. I like the West Davidson Parkway corridor... tract housing and lots of parking lots... And I'm like you too in that I get some really great ideas in the late night hours (or rather the wee morning hours)... I'm a bit of a nocturne... 10.gif

    Great work on this cj! Have to keep this one in mind; especially the embankment of the river looks very good, with the terrace-like walls rising up above it, great job.

    I wondered about something though. You use the asphalt highway texture, and the interchanges have this asphalt texture too. When I use this texture, the interchanges appear in their original light-grey color; how come?

    Well, wsx2003x, this has turned out quite nicely. I love that night view, as well. Wonderful job indeed.

    wks2003x,

    I am really new here to the BB and have been browsing for several days now and just had to let you know that this CJ is da Bomb! I love the graphic arts, the real estate sales slant, the story and most of all your mastery of all that is offered here on this site. You are what I hope to be in a few months. You are already doing what I wish I had done in my life; Architecture. You most assuredly have an eye for style and beauty.

    Please keep up this CJ and give an update soon.

    Thanks for the Inspiration,
    Rodney

    p.s. Only my 3rd post and 1st for a CJ. Yours is way superior.29.gif
