Come on the Arse. Even if you are a team of cheating, foreigners, you're still better than the Barca lot.

Bah, not a footy fan but still hope the english side wins... Not that we will as international football has been disgraced by politics. As we are not Euro, we won't win.

Oh the pain, Arsenal lost. Why Lehmann, why?

Let's start waiting for Germany 2006-games. Only few weeks!

That was quite sad, being a football fan, watching the refs decisions, but still, I think in the end Barca would have won either way.

1. As a US certified referee ... I have to say ... that was the worst refereeing I have ever seen at the international level. However, the assistant referees were excellent (IMO).

2. You have to give Arsenal big accolades for their great performance with only 10 players for almost the entire game.

3. ESPN really needs to get better American announcers. Their ignorance of the game is so apparent. The British anouncer was excellent ... as usual.

4. Soccer is much more popular in the US than ever. Mostly because more and more people grew up playing it. As time rolls on, more people here will be familiar with the game, and its popularity will continue to increase.

Believe in only what you can prove.

I as a german apologize for Lehmanns foolishness. He is popular for doing stuff like that. That was a clear foul. Iam not an Oliver Kahn fan either (Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann were opponents in german national soccer team , both wanted to be the goalkeeper for the national team , lehmann won). So i wish the german national goalkeeper was the 3rd in the team , Timo Hildebrandt....

    Okay back to topic.

After Lehmann went out it was 10vs11 it somehow was just a matter of time til barcelona wins. i feel sorry for arsenal. I dont like Barcelona especially because of Frank Rijkaard.

    Thats all.

As a ref in training I must say that I could have officiated better before my first lession, UEFA in my opinion should have pulled the entire team after the shirt incident, now its possible that the press could start questioning the integrity of the refereeing which is not at all good for the game and the last thing we need. Although to be fair as was pointed out earlier the assistants and even the fourth offical were brilliant and made all the right calls, they were very good about not being so over zelious regarding the offside rule.

However the referee was a plonker, he should have given Lehman a yellow not a red and let the goal stand, fair enough he had blown his wistle so he should have just given a freekick with a yellow there was no reason for the dismissal, in fact for ther most part he seemed to give most decisions barcas way, very questionble but hey what can we do, surprised he didn't go the full hog and mess it up even more by calling the match off due to the weather, (although technically he would have been entitled to).

Thats my two pence but glad to see Ronaldhino shown up, he may be a good showman and can play some fantastic set pices but put him up against a proper English team (not Chelsea they can't call themselves english anymore the way they play) and he falls apart, he simply does not have the pace for it, unlike his teammate Samual Eto'o who is really the worlds best player (in my opinion). Ahh well lets hope that Henry decides to do the right thing and lead his team out onto the field at Ashburton Grove.

Speaking of Ashburton Grove, did you realise apparently its against UEFA & FIFA rules for a stadium to be named after a sponsor for thier matches, so the Emrites will be called Ashburton Grove for European Cup matches and the new Munich stadium will be call FIFA World Cup Stadium Munich 2006 for the world cup, mad eh!

Though I am a Man U fan, I always want the country win (unless its Chelsea).Over here it was on at 6:30am on Thursday morning!! It was crazy reffing, why not just let the goal stand? Almunia is OK but nothing compared to Lehmann. It was an excellant Arsenal defense that kept them in the game, but then the keeper let in a goal in his near post, then through his legs! But the ref didn't only ruin Lehmann's game, but then they had to take off Pires. I still think that Arsenal could have got back into the game if they were a goal down. Hopefully next season Arsenal will have a better domestic season. All I want is Chelsea not to win!!! Even if they have Ballack...

I love how Arsenal fans are complaining about diving and refs, when thier only goal came from a complete and total dive for which the replay showed the player was barely, if at all even touched.  Now that was a gift.  (Albeit, it was also a finely executed set play.)

As for the red card, I love how you all want to blame the ref, when it was the keepers play.  While the referree could have used discretion to allow advantage, and subsequently the goal, and issue only a yellow card, it was absolutely a correct technical decision to send the keeper off.  He was the last man, and he clearly fouled a player who had a scoring opportunity in an attempt to prevent a goal.  I'm only sorry that it happened outside the box.  It would have been more appropriate for there to be a red card, and a subsequent penalty and goal.

It was a lousy foul by the keeper.  And I am a keeper as well.  I just hate to see that kind of crap, the taking down of a player deliberately to prevent an almost sure goal.  It's disgraceful, and is absolutely deserving of a red card.

With that, and the dive that lead to Arsenal's goal, I could only be pleased to see Barca wear out Arsenal and finally secure the victory.  I will give that it was a valient effort by the 10 of Arsenal, but on that day, they didn't deserve to hoist the cup.
