I figured I would jump right into the screenies since that's the fun part anyway.  Please keep in mind that these shots were taken at the game's lowest graphics settings.  The next batch will be at the game's highest setting. 4.gif

Here's downtown Madripore

Sunset...or maybe sunrise.  I forget but either way, it's a cool shot.

Yes, it is City Life. It's not perfect (yet) but at the very least you can make cities that actually look like cities. Fun fun. 4.gif

Yeah, for now at least, there is a lot of building repitition because each of the cultures only has a few different places to work. I imagine that will change shortly.

This view does remind me a lot of Simcity 4 when it came out.  I'm sure the lack of building variety will be fixed in time just like SC4.

Does it support a region scale or is this the only city tile you get to play on?  Looks cool!

You can add to the initial size of your cities (by buying/annexing adjacent areas), but no, there is no region view that is made up of several cities.

WOW! This is stunning. I wonder do you have any control over your transporation system?

You do have control over the transit system in that you can build roads, highways, subways, and all that. There are some missing elements like surface rail, monorails, a ferry system, and true freeways (with ramps, interchanges) but I expect all those will be addressed with an expansion pack.

Yeah, I knew it was City Life just as soon as I saw the street-level cams. There is a lot of repetition in buildings, but that's what it's like in all these city-building games, now isn't it?! Anyway, I wish you good luck witb this CJ and the game's somewhat limited resources in City Life.

meh, city life stinks. when they add more networks and we see some sort of BAT-like tool, it'll be awesome though.

    Update time:

Here's a top-down view of the city showing who lives where and the transportation network.  This is my first city so I stayed pretty conservative/griddy with the streets, but there were a few areas where I got jiggy with it. 4.gif

By the way, I haven't figured out how to plant trees yet.  My city needs more greenery, so I'll work on that next.

Looking out at Madripore over some island.  If I were feeling a little more creative, I'd have given the island a name, but oh well.

Here's a ground level view of one of Madripore's more upscale districts.

Thanks! Yeah, I had quit playing SimCity and BATting...partly in anticipation of CityLife coming along, and partly because I've been pretty busy with work and home remodeling. 4.gif
