This is the future site of the town of Bailey. This is where the two rivers meet and become one. The one in the upper left corner is the Bailey River, named for the famous SimNation explorer George Bailey who discovered this area in 1900. The other river, which is the main river is the Etowah River (a local river near me here in Georgia), which was named after a local tribe of Indians.

This is several years later (sorry, I wanted to get it nicely developed before I took a picture) as the town has grown into a nice place. This is a night shot that shows the nice, small town, business district which is three blocks long and two blocks wide. The park you see on the right side of the picture is Observatory Park, named for the Observatory which is obviously located in the park itself.

This picture was taken in the mid-1960s. This is the newly built Northwood Estates, a neighborhood that was designed after the city's planning commissioner Thad Nameless returned from a recent trip to the big city of Fairfield. Upon his return he proclaimed "This housing development design of the FUTURE!! Fairfield which until a few years ago was a small town like us started to build these on the outskirts of its own city limits and Sims from all over are flocking to them in droves!"

Taken in late 1969, this picture shows how things are quickly beginning to change. The major roads into and out of Bailey have been upgraded to four-lane highways (this was accomplished so quickly by working day and night for four years, a move that ultimately cost the city it's highway crew due to anger over long hours and low pay). You can see how downtown has gotten nicer, a new apartment building has gone up nearby and the town has attracted the major American retailers Wal-Mart and K-Mart. (Both stores had resided in their current locations for years before until the highways were widened, then both stores were torn down and rebuilt in the same locations.)

That is all for now, hope to have more soon.

In between my first city journal (Riverside) and this one I had an experimental city based on Miami that turned out to be the largest city I've ever built, unfortunately after I'd built it up I didn't care for the map design I had used as it posed some major problems and thus deleted it. Sorry to go off topic there lol.

I also have a partial list of downloads from the Site Exchange and would like to thank the following: (If you see something in my city that was your upload let me know so I can give you credit, don't want to offend anyone.)

Awesome city-I love how the water splits the city in half, well in three i guess. I always try to do that with my cities, but it never works out very well. SO, for that I wish you the best of luck. I think it will look cool when the downtown areas get going big. big buildings around water is cool

Nice start!  Looks like a very pretty city you've got to start.  Terraforming look great, as does you fledgeling city.

A word of warning about farms, you might want to buffer them a bit away from you major routes.  I made that mistake in my city journal and wound up with pretty severe dilapidation from the road pollution.  Of couse if you're planning on re-development, that shouldn't be an issue.

Keep up the great work!

Great start! Also if you want your diagonal streets to be dirt as well I think there is a mod on the STEX. Search up 'diagonal streets' and ye shall find!

By the river, especially a split in one, is where many, many settlements grew into fine towns and cities in real life, so I see the realism take on that. I like your city and how it maintains a country and urban feel. About the list of downloads, you should list any cheats, mods, and maps that you've used, and you don't have to name every BAT as long as you're not highlighting it. That info is all HERE. Anyway, great job!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll look for that diagonal dirt road mod, and as for the farms on the main highways I do plan on redeveloping them. This isn't even going to be the main city in the region, I haven't even started on that one yet lol. Gonna be studying some maps of cities and do a lot of planning so I can get it to be pretty realistic.
