    Attention: This is a large update with 17 pictures. Please be patient while each picture loads.

    49.gif Update 33

    Pinedale

    Today, we will be looking into Pinedale, located just south of West Ridgefield. It has really grown into an urban area. Some residents say that the town grew too fast. Pinedale is gaining a reputation as an urban center, and even surpasses Ridgefield in population.

    What is so distinctive about this town is not on its growth, but its architecture and difference in wealth class. The city is open to all wealth classes, including the low class. In fact, much of Pinedale's population is a lower class. But Pinedale still serves as a convenient city with many amenities for living.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/3663/pinedaledec272011216444500uy.jpg align=baseline>

    Pinedale has its own large office park. The only access to the park is through the Pinedale Spur, which connects the city to the office park. As you can see, it handles alot of traffic during the day. The local parking lots are also heavily used.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/6779/pinedaleaug72711216468984ta.jpg align=baseline>

    And here is the office park, with many offices from rich suites to lower class retail stores. To gain popularity, the town set up a 9-hole golf course situated on the far end of the park.

    And now the town...

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/9212/pinedaleaug92711216469311un.jpg align=baseline>

    This is the Four Gardens neighborhood located in the central residential area of the town. High class apartments are found, and desirable parks with blooming shrubs are what characterize the area.

    And another picture of the Four Gardens neighborhood, showing the Four Gardens itself.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/2910/pinedaleaug112711216469535re.jpg align=baseline>

    Rowhouse Neighborhood

    Pinedale is also known for its rowhouse neighborhood, located in the southern neighborhoods of Pinedale. The middle class neighborhood is uniformed with 3 story rowhouses that stretch over 18 acres of land. Mixed in with the rowhouses are desirable blooming parks, along with an extensive road system.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/3787/pinedaleaug132711216469718eq.jpg align=baseline>

    Here are the rowhouses, bunched up together on semi-quiet streets.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/4241/pinedaleaug162711216469934zl.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is some more of the rowhouse neighborhood, with some commercial offices tucked into the development. Also notice the beautiful parks on the premises.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/8696/pinedaleaug212711216470245sl.jpg align=baseline>

    The bustling area is in need of an extensive road system. So during the construction of the rowhouses, a network of tunnels and parallel roads were constructed to smoothly transport traffic throughout the area.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/1192/pinedalesep72711216470682iz.jpg align=baseline>

    And another shot of the neighborhood, above.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/3448/pinedaleoct142711216473398ba.jpg align=baseline>

    Industry is also a big part of Pinedale's history. In the southeast sector of town, many hi-tech industrial facilities are found, along with some dirtier areas where factories and warehouses dominate the area. The neighborhood handles a bunch of trucking each day. The building in the center was once a county hospital but then was transformed into a city labratory.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/5403/pinedaledec32711216474189ho.jpg align=baseline>

    And here is a neighborhood, primarily residential, in the city center.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/8093/pinedalesep102711216471081xm.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/3838/pinedalesep132711216471345sh.jpg align=baseline>

    These two photos show the suburbs, widely open to low, middle, and high class Sims.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/1584/pinedalesep182711216471622go.jpg align=baseline>

    And here is a shot of some convenience stores located along Metropolitan Avenue, a major throughfare which handles alot of traffic. Staples, Office Depot, and Famous Footwear are some notable stores, along with Best Buy and Rite Aid in the foreground.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/774/pinedaleoct62711216472427cm.jpg align=baseline>

    And here is the neighborhood Wegmans...

    along with the neighborhood McDonalds.

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/7403/pinedaleoct122711216472705ea.jpg align=baseline>

    And to wrap up this update, I will show you a traffic cam of the Pinedale Spur...

    <ahttp://img316.imageshack.us/img316/4545/trafficcam1fr.gif align=baseline>

    That's it with this long update!
    Comments are appreciated!

    And I have had no response yet from admins about posting in the Omnibus. I am just thinking... maybe I should do a tutorial on how to make traffic cams in this city journal thread? I have seen Jeronij do it in SCR.

    Thanks for your support!

    Hey Mike, great update.  Really like the row houses.  I find them absolutely boring, which I think is awesome.  How is the traffic in that area?  I'd be interested to know.  I see the traffic you are talking about on Metropolitan Ave., looks really heavy.  The traffic cam is great, I would love to see a little tutorial on how you achieve the effect.

    Wow! Great update! I love those massive blocks of identical houses; simply beautiful. About the traffic cams: Why not make a tutorial right here?

    Thank you everyone for your great comments!

    FSI - Glad you like the Four Gardens. Building something like this is very affective for residential environments. Also, I hope your Asphalt Highway Mod question was solved...

    Compromise - Thanks Compromise, for your great evaluation system once again. Glad to see this update pulled out an A- 29.gif

    DragonAnime - Thanks for commenting DA.  Glad to see you in here once again.

    kingofsimcity - Yeah, Mandursuro has a similar .gif of the Granton Bridge Area. Glad it reminds me of Mandursuro, because the most influence in this journal is from that journal. 19.gif

    dhoppeii - Thanks for commenting. And for your question. Traffic can be hell sometimes around the rowhouse area and the Four Gardens neighborhood. Surprisingly though, the traffic map is all green. And Metropolitan Ave. is definitely one of the most used roads in Pinedale. And for your comment about the tutorial, I think I will do it in here.

    utora - Thanks for visiting!!!! Glad you like the rowhouse area. And yes, I'm considering a tutorial right here.

    thatmonkeysim - LOL. Unless you're used to traffic, don't move to Pinedale. 18.gif

    To ALL: I am considering the tutorial right in here, due to the fact that the admins did not respond to my PMs. So look for one this weekend!

    Tonight: Expect some traffic cams, a region view, and some teaser shots of all three towns so far; RIDGEFIELD, W. RIDGEFIELD, and PINEDALE.

    Awesome Mega Update.  I really like all the green areas in your cities.  The traffic cams are a great addition.  I do have a question for you.  Do you use any mass transit?  Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I don't recall seeing any rail or bus stops recently.
