Since some of the new generation of games are already out, what is your plans for your pc in the future?

For me, since the new City Life game is coming soon, I need to get a new graphics card. Either a 256 or 512 Mb with a Nvidia GPU.

I got a RADEON X800GT 256MB video card for Christmas and doubled my RAM in January for a total of 1GB, and I do not plan to upgrade anything on this computer ever again. Why? I have to buy a very powerful laptop in December for architcture school, and I plan to buy a very powerful one that I can use throughout my stay at college. After that, who knows.

I have an integrated system, so there is little more I can do with it.  I can replace my remaining 256MB memory stick with another 512MB to take my memory up to 1GB.

I have already added a 200GB hard disk, replaced the DVD-R drive with a DVD-RW, ported over my slow, external HP CD-RW drive (not used much, but nice if you need something on-line but not fast), a web cam, and a new LCD monitor (19").

Since I just don't go out and purchase a new machine very often, I guess this old clunker is going to have to continue for a while.  If I can't run some of the newer software, so be it.

My next upgrade will be a nVidia 8800 GTX. I heard there's rumors on the uh... inernets that they'll be coming out this summer, and with fun stuff like DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0. After that, I'll be adding 2x1GB DDR RAM, and at the end of the year I'll upgrade my CPU to either an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or Opteron 170 Denmark.

My computer is brand new (got it christmas) but next Christmas or so I will probably buy either another gig of ram (bringing me up to 2gigs) or a better video card, since my GeForce 6800 GT is ALREADY slightly outdated. X__X

Oh, and I also desperately need a better sound card, my current sound blaster LIVE card is just terrible.

The only upgrade I'm planning in the near future would be my speaker set. My 6 yo DTT2500 is dying and I need a new set of speaker.

In the next year I probably would do a full upgrade with the new upcoming 45nm Intel chips (if they turns out to be good, or I'll get AMD), a new video card, probably 4 GB of RAM and perhaps some other stuff. But since this is too preliminary I'm not sure how this plan would turns out.

That's not the Maximum PC way of thinking about your computer, but sadly, it's the way most of us have to live.8.gif  Why is it that all the cool software runs on stuff you don't have and can't afford?

Well, I'm running onboard audio and listening to music through speakers that were cheap when they were bought 8 years ago. 15.gif Be thankful you have the soundcard.

As for what I'm looking at:  a new graphics card and another 512MB of RAM.

That's the idea. Once Leopard is out, which will come with some sort of Bootcamp based virtualisation software built-in, allowing you either to run Windows under a dual-boot enviroment, or (as some analysts are predicting) from within OS X.

I just added a Logitech MOMO Racing Force Feedback Steering Wheel last night.

I realized I had NFSU2, NFS Most Wanted, GT Legends, Flat Out, CRC 2005 and ToCA 3 that I had been playing with a joystick and thought it was time. 39.gif

I was playing Half Life 2 the other night and my fps was over 200 somewhere (numbers fly by to

fast to read them all) with everything maxed out (1600X1200) so I hope I will not need anything

else for a long time. 44.gif

I'll probably get myself another ViewSonic VX2025, or a second 7800GTX (go for SLI), or possibly some Mushkin Redline 2x1GB RAM.
