I did a big fiesta friday night for my birthday ... abuse of beer ... so but I'm back!

I played and played since three weeks... I become bored but the region is 65% finished...

I've a problem with BAT's building and night light, I found a patch on the official site but it doesn't work... Somebody has an idea???

Note: On the 18th of september I'll go back to my engineering school, also I have now one week of farniente, I hope that after I'll have enough time to play...

Just remember, Dodge Street is an Expressway. The only streets that are connected are those that are divisable by 12! Just thought I'd point that out. Good job on Boystown!

To cowcorn: Thanks, it looks realistic but not exactly on scale, it's based on Omaha's major road framework, but I play a lot with my imagination too...

Elkhorn, NE lies on the western suburbs, along NE-61, I did this city a major mill complex and some sprawling neighboors. Enjoy!

Here are the mills, with on the right, Nebster Inc., they make surface treatments on steel, such as chrome, galvanization, etc...

I havnt looked at many CJ's on this site so I may over exagerate.. This is really the best region type thing i've ever seen! Mine are only half the size of this city.. I need all your BAT's and mods collection.. But seriously good stuff.

WOW!!!!  I'm still fairly new here.  I just stumbled on your CJ this morning and read thru all 12 pages in one sitting!!  Many questions\concerns\ideas pop into my mind. I hope I can get\keep my thoughts straight.

First of all, if you are not from Nebraska (Switzerland, did you say??), why did you pick the Omaha area??  

btw . . . terrific job!!!  I think this is the best CJ I have seen yet.

And exactly how much time do you spend on SC????  I'm unemployed and on disability and don't spend that much time playing.  I know how long it can take to build up a region like this.  And if you also spend a lot of time with the B.A.T. and terrafomer, when do you sleep (if ever)??

Next, I believe Mr. Storz was Storz Beer.  It was (is??) a regional type brew.

How big is your region??  It seems a lot bigger than the 4 blue by 4 blue (config file) that I have been able to create and terraform.  If it is bigger than that, how did you do it.  I would like to have a bigger region to mess around in!!  How far west does your map go??  It looks like it might go all the way to Columbus (about 60 miles or so west of Omaha)!!!

Is the lowest river in your region supposed to be the Platte River??  If so, I don't remember a big > (sharp right-hand bend) like you have shown.

Love your Epply Airport too.  It is awesome!!

You mentioned you plan to incorporate Bellevue.  Don't forget to put in S.A.C. (Strategic Air Command) Headquarters and Offut A.F.B., Bellevue University (where I got my BA and my MBA) and the rendering works south of Bellevue (notable because the stench was smellable all the way west to hiway 75).  And you might have to take into consideration the Papio River\\Flood Plain setup (canals, levees and dikes).  It is a rather prominante feature in the area. There is also a fairly well-known eatery just south of Bellevue along the Mo river.  I believe its called Catfish Lake.  Maybe someone who has eaten there more recently than 25 years ago can help with that.

There are a couple of main roads that go west from Bellevue (Cornhusker Hiway and Hiway 60[??]) that, when I last lived there ran through rural areas\cornfields.  Now they are all built up with bed-room suburbs all the way to Elkhorn.  I believe the Omaha metro area is now well over 500,000 in population.

And I think, since this is the midwest and Nebraska, you should have lots and lots and lots of fields full of 10-foot-tall cornstalks!!!

Are you planning on going south of the Platte River (Plattsmouth)??  That's where my family lived for  20 years or so.  I was born and raised near Abie.  Its a (very) small farming community about 60 miles west of Omaha.  We moved to Plattsmouth in '64, and my wife & I moved to Missouri in '85.  We go back to the Abie area once every 2 years for a family reunion, so I still kinda know what the area looks like.

Even though this is Omaha and not Lincoln, you should consider putting in some Nebraska Cornhusker Football specific items (just for eye candy effect).  Maybe a 20-foot tall statue of Herbie the Husker in one of the mall parking lots.

And then there are the stockyards in South O (South Omaha).  At one time Omaha had the biggest stockyards in the world.  There were many packing plants in the surroungding area, most of which are closed now.  And right smack dab in the middle of all those cows (and cow manue, etc.) was one of the best restaurants in Omaha.  I think the building was called the Stockman's or Cattlemen's Exchange.  And if I remember correctly, the restaurant was on the top floor.  It was like a 5 or 6 story building.

Well . . . that's all I can think of for now.  I do think you are doing a 10 out of 10 job with your CJ, and hope my criticisms haven't discouraged you in any way.  As soon as I can get a new\better computer, I might try a CJ of my own.  I just hope I can do half as good a job as you are doing, since I have absolutely zero experience with the B.A.T. and plopping lots.

To 1973tr6: Thanks! Also I picked Omaha why the road layout is very easy to recreat (the main artery) and to inserate in the orthogonal layout of the game. But first of all, I've a collection of maps about midwest and Omaha is a city that a few poeple speak about it...When playing, I learnt a lot about this region.

- I'm on holidays, so I wake up at 10h am and I begin to play at 11 - 11h30 am until 5h - 6h pm, then I stop... In one afternoon, I can build two farmland cities or one suburb.

- I'll also build a brewery =)

- The region is 11 x 9 large (blue) map = 44km by 36 km -> 99 maps at all!! 

- No isn't, it's a mistake when I did the map and I don't think to build the Platte River and its southern part.

- I know for the SAC, they built Elona Gay, no? I don't know, I can build the SAC, but I'm not a big military fan or to put something else, like a steel plant (huge)...

I decided to put empty space, because on Photoshop, when you draw an one tile large river, when it renders on the game, it looks to much large and unrealistic, so when rivers are enought large, I draw them. I'll check for these canals/rivers if I can do something.

But don't worry about Southroads mall, it would be build!

- My last visit on wikipedia and other related source mentioned a population of 850'000 for the metro area and Omaha increased (2006 census estimation) from 370'000 to 420'000 inhabitants. My region has 2'600'000 inhabitants... (ingame homes and ploppable ones have an unrealistic number of occupants...)

- Football stadium?

- Yes, but I've not began to build South O yet. I know it was (or it is) a working class suburb.

I just wonder ... does the railway REALLY intersects the ramps of the cloverleaf??? I mean ... okay, on american RR lines there are way less trains than on european lines but especially those freight trains are really long - and rather slow ... as fars as I heard such a train passing by may take up to 20 min and more ??? Just my 0,02 Simoleaons ...

And I am asking myself how your great freeways would look like if you used the new rural hihways  ...

This suburb lies on the south of Omaha and south from I-80. It's an industrial city with a lot of working class homes.

The industrial area in Boystown looks excellent... I like these customized warehouses of yours, they're a very nice touch. The Elkhorn suburbs are also very nice... I always enjoy your suburban town centers, they have some nice character. Same in Ralston... with one difference: These apartment blocks are great there. Great job there my friend.

Your holiday SC4 schedule surprised me a little... you're very effective... typically Welsch? Well, I'm rarely satisfied with my work, so I do a lot of building/rebuilding... typically Bourbine... .
