I did some reading and research on this game and for me I'm not feeling it.  I like building a city and seeing it evolve from a town to city to megatropolis.  I'm not into evolving tadpoles to fish.  I understand that people want to make new ideas and maybe some of this game engine will become part of the Sim City 5.  My first suggestion is to make a game where I don't have to buy memory to run it, to me that's progress.  Spore sounds interesting but I rather play Sim City 4 or get a update/New Sim City 5.

I am interested in the approach that one guy made that you create a city and you go to war with other cities.  That's interesting to me.  Spores isn't

Looks like they are trying to tap into the lucrative MMORG market. It can go either way depending on how they approach it. It could be surpass Everquest if done right or be a total flop if they hold back. The best thing to do is to wait till they have more information.

If there's a signature price I'm not buying it...28.gif
Although I presume the interactivity with other players is only possible when downloading other lifeforms, it isn't a MMOG, maxis never made multiplayer games at all, I doubt the Spore would do the first step...

Now I'm starting to doubt too...

what if spore is another game where you have to pay monthly fees in order to be able to play the game? with some games, these fees are as high as the actual cost of the game itself!
If spore is such a money-sucking game, I won't buy it at all...
It would be really sad to spoil a good-sounding game like this one because of money

Spore isn't a multiplayer game, so it is very unlikely for it to cost money to play every month. From all that I have heard, there is no actual way of meeting other people, so there is no reason to charge a monthly fee.

It supposed to be a MSORPG (Massively Singleplayer Online Role Playing Game) thats what I am calling it anyway.

I have just set up a site for the game so head over and sign up for a purely spore based community.

IMO, Spore sounds...bad. I was really hoping for news of SC5 of some expansion pack for SC4 when I saw this thread on the forum 3.gif. Evolving bacteria to man (or whatever they do) just doesn't do it for me. Evolution of cities is more my thing.

The fact that this is an online game (following the current trend) really adds to the negative points. 20.gif I confess myself disappointed.

I suppose noone has posted this link yet:

It's free to view, you just have to do a quick registration first. It's a vid of the demo at the GDC. You might want to darken your screen a bit, because the images of the demo are somewhat faded (due to the fact that its actually a film of a projection.)  In any event, it looks REALLY cool.  The graphics are somewhat goofy, but the thing can probably run on a slow computer (i think) because it uses something called procedural animation.  That may just mean that its less work for the programmers and more for your CPU, but it looks worth it. Apparently every single animation is unique.

Be forewarned: the thing is over an hour long!

Sounds... very... boring.....24.gif

Look, I like SimCity, but it's not the 'Sim' aspect of it that apeals. it's that you're virtually building cities, which is cool. I really have no interest in building animals. if Will Wright wants to sell me another game, I recommend a new version of SimTower, or a new Streets of Simcity. Hell, maybe even a sequel to Marble Drop! But not this.....

I agree! When will he announce SC5!!! I wish he would hurry up and get something done about that instead of wasting his time on games people really won't buy.

I think this game could become very sucessful. It just took the Game Critic Awards (GCA's) Best of E3 for: Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best PC Game, and Best Simulation.

Hmm... Looks interesting.

I think that I'll just refrain on critiquing the heck out of this game until I can at least see some animation of it. I mean, who knows? This could be the next SimCity, maybe the next Warcraft!

...Seriously? Who knows? 18.gif

My mind lit up with excitement with the realisation that a game like this is going to exist! Screenshot after screenshot I wanted more of it, shamefully... lol.
