I never played SC4 Deluxe without NAM so I don't know what it added but how do I use it? What exactly does it give me more? I still have highways, elevated highways, ect... I've seen pictures of people making highways and making one road of the highway a NAM???? I've tried but it doesn't work... What can I do with NAM exactly? (pics would greatly help!)

Hi,

When you finish installing NAM, you should be presented with a browser page displaying the manual of the add-on. Now, I am not sure if this is the case everywhere, but NAM adds extra interchanges for avenues and highways, and a new form of transport, known as the ground version of the elevated rail. It is call Ground Light Railway (GLR). There are elevated versions of most transit networks, and it enables you to plop transit-enabled lots without serious problems.

There are still a number of bugs, including the bit where the game crashes when you hover a puzzle piece over a Transit-enabled lot, by they are not seen as serious. It's well worth a try. A majority of users love to use NAM, but it's up to you.

Thanks. What kinds of things can I do with NAM? I've seen pics of some crazy things that I don't even know how to start.... And also, when I make a ground level highway I can't find anything I can add to make the cars get out of the highway... everything works only for elevated highways...

The NAM is simply an amazing tool. Unless you use something like GLR and have never tried to make tricky network connections/turns you'd probably not notice it. The amount of freedom it adds to your design of  transit networks is a nice luxury.

Edit: You may have selected the option to group your highway pieces. If that is the case you will need to cycle (by pressing tab) through your various highway onramps/offramps to find the appropriate ones for your ground highways. "Home" and "End" will adjust the orientation.

Read the included Readme.html in the download for a full list of modifications and updates. Feel free to romp around the forums and the STEX for great ideas. All I can say so far is those ideas are scattered everywhere. This forum is a must for discussion of the NAM.

It would be in this case a combination of downloads and modds to acheive the look.

The Milkman: Try looking in the My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\Network Addon Modd folder.

Also, you might already know this, but you need to hit TAB once you select a tool to have all the different kinds of ramps, overpasses, etc.

NAM can alos affect the way sims navigate your city, if you checked the pathfinding option your sims will use common sence for once and there roots will be more realistic and longer.

nam also gives you round abouts (drag two pieces of road to make a 2x2 square and it will turn into a round about)

nam also adds cosmetic things such as the turning lanes you see on the roads.

I don't know how to go about making many things with the NAM either. There should be something like a tutorial about this somewhere, not the info that is scattered all over the site and threads.

Btw The Milkman, that is one spectacular overpass!

    It's all in the readme.

Which, BTW, is getting revised in the next edition of the NAM. Hopefully that will help somewhat.

some of the readme explanations aren't too specific and not well explained.

the NAM has so many options...that can be used like an artist uses a paint brush...and some ppl are just better with paint brush is all.

I myself, don't use a few options in the NAM (GLR for example) and most of my cities are not at all complicated trasit set ups...so a lot of the puzzel piece I don't actually use...though i have the NAM fully installed...4.gif

others (theMonkeySim for example) like to created wild trasit connections
yes...hopefully some of the more artistic mayors might make a tutorial on "how to do this"...but for the NAM your gonna need about 1000 tutorial...just to cover Woodcounty...3.gif

because theres some many possibilities with the puzzel pieces and theres always updates2.gif and then times that by different terrian...:S

tutorials would be nice...but that gonna be a might long thread B
