I had to dump the retail at the base when I resized the model.  I'm keeping them in my pocket for other projects... Maybe in the strip centers.  I forget exactly, but I think I got the logos from their websites.  That is where I find most of them, though you would be surprised how many official websites don't have them.  One I wanted for the Columbus Tower project was Victoria's Secret.  Nice web site, but no logo really.

I really like the size SimGoob. It looks great and i can easilly see a few stores going in there. Also one good thing about ploppables is you dont have to include parking alot of people are starting to just build parking in the game.  As for fitting into the game i think you are right to an extent but they really dont fit in much in real life either amoungst a sea of houses and smaller buildings. But alot of times they are in surroundings with alot of other very large buildings and being in these big groups sort of make the buildings more normal.

I'm aware of the Hampton Inn bug, I just haven't figured out how to fix it. I'll look into it again, as I think I know what went wrong last time. The only tricky part is I merged all the files together to keep it neat and simple, so i have to dig a little deeper into reader than I have before.

It's not the same problem as I had with the Indoor Sports Centre is it? I had not set the AppearanceZoomsFlag under the Advanced tab of the PluginManager. By default you only get zoom levels 2,3,4,5 (i.e. nothing at zoom level 1).

On the last page when you show the office building (right before you show the strip mall) what is that building that sits to the left of the office building? It has red lettering and looks kinda like it could say SimGoober Electronics or something.

Deadwoods:yep, that's the problem.  It should be an easy fix, the only catch is when I merged the files, I lost the ability to rework te desc file in the PM.  I can do it in the reader; I just need to check another file to get the right value for that field.  Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Cat Person : Good eye!  I was wondering if anyone would notice that. It is another project I am tinkering with.  I am playing with props that only appear on certain days.  Every weekend they will have a big sale!  So far, I modded the props, but they still show up all the time.  I am testing it for a few days to see if I got the schedul wrong.  Once I figure this out (if?), I'll release at as well.

Glad you were able to make the fix for the Hampton, I also wanted to say that I thought your tip to Frogface was really good, Quote:

I saw in the Hampton hotel update fix that you had stopped the ploppable from growing, I have that problem a with some buildings like the Maxis Grand Theatre and the Highland hotel, trying to grow on unsuitable lots and therefore just getting a blank lot with the odd prop but no building.

I got the info on how to prevent plops from growing from GrampaAl, somewhere in another thread.  There are two properties to change in the LotConfigurations exemplar file, that deal with it. One or the other stops it from growing, but by changing them both, you get it for sure.  Those two are :

    GrowthStage
    LotConfigPropertyZoneTypes

If you change both of those to 0x0F, it assigns a value of 15 (decimal), and does not allow that lot to grow under any circumstances.

here is an update on the strip center.  It's been rendered and I am testing it for a few days.  The signs as props idea didn't work, as the different facades on the front are at different depths.  I could have done a custom LOD, but I haven't had much success with it yet.

I wish BMP files could be posted, they are always clearer looking....

Oooh, I love the strip mall SimGoober!!! Especially all the signs! I'm glad you kept the lights. And about the Goober office building, I forgot to look at it in-game at home, but from the screenshots it looks quite good. Good job!

I agree with mexicanboy13r. I bet in real life there would probably be a sign like that, with all the different names of the businesses that are there. That's just me, though.

EDIT: Below is another good idea, I think.

    heres a sign...

    /idealbb/files/Sign4.jpg

for such a little thing; BAT made a fight over it.  Had to render it 3 times to get it to work, and so far it only lights up when facing a certain direction.  I remember Pegasus mentioned he was having this problem....

I've got a couple more designs floating in my head for other ones as well.  That sign just refuses to behave.  It lights up on lots orientated north to south, but not east to west.  I'm going to poll a few people to see if anyone has ideas why.

I'll be workinf on a couple BSC projects for the next couple days, and testing these lots some more.  Should be released over the weekend if all goes well. I've had requests for bigger format shopping centers, and will do one of those next.

Yeah, the strip mall looks great, another fine piece of suburban Americana realism, from the master.9.gif

Well done! Looks awesomely believable - if that's a sentence fit to post grammar-wise.

    SimGoober,

I love your creations, I use all of them in my cities :)

I just want to say that you guys dont really know what a real shopping mall is :)
Where I live we have a really high variety of shopping malls, this one is the biggest here:

    ibirapuerash.jpg'

    shopping2peq.jpg'

If you want to do it or any other below, I can take some more pics, my friend has a cessna and he can fly over them so I can take some more photos :)

    Another cool one:

    westplaz.jpg'

    This one is cool also:

    eldorado.jpg'

I can fly over any of them to take more pics :)

    Keep up the good work!
    Diogo

I figured out the sign problem... it was just really sensitive to placement.  I am working on a few new custom ideas for the lots, so will release it in a couple days.

I've seen the monster malls, and wouldn't mind making one.. but BAT would probably freak out rendering something that big. Maybe someday.  I think Joerg is working on a mall now.

Here's the current work in progress.  It will take a while, as the real world is catching up to me.  I am thinking it will have a total of 8 stores, give or take.  I am still open to a couple ideas on those.

This version hasn't got any textures applied, just colors from BAT to get the general idea.
    /idealbb/files/SC25.jpg

This will be quite a bit bigger than the last.  Maybe 12 tiles wide? The building itself 4 deep, so a 12 x 6 lot; how does that sound?
