This is Tampa's Mardi Gras. It's 2 parade festival. It started off on saturday (02/06/09) and ends with the Sant'Yago Knight Parade the following Saturday (02/14/09). The day Parade starts with the Jose Gaspar Pirate Ship (According to Wikipedia: The worlds only fully functional historic pirate ship) sails up the Hillsborough Bay (East Tampa Bay) up the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. Upon the landing of the ship, the mayor of Tampa surrendors the key to the city. The parade starts at the begining of the historic scenic Bayshore Blvd and ends in downtown Tampa. The night parade starts in downtown Tampa and ends in East Ybor City. The Parades are to celebrate when Jose Gaspar a Spanish Naval Officer became a pirate, and supposibly took over the city of Tampa. According to legend he took over many ships in and around Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy attempting to fight off the Jose Gasparilla with water, though they surrendor. The Gasparilla Knight Parade (Sant' Yago Knight Parade)

Well I think the city couldn't handle all of the NFL events with Gasparilla cos Tampa's downtown had a lot of activities during the superbowl week. Plus Gasparilla is the 2nd largest party parade behind Mardi Gras. We can easily get 500,000 on a bad year. Here's some of downtown Tampa's activities during the superbowl:

Its usually pretty good, most of the floats even have live music. They usually are blasting the Top 40 kind of music on most of the floats. So you get your good mix. Mostly I think its Rock, Tropical, and Alternative.

Sickles High School. You live really close to me. Raysfan I live in Odessa/Keystone theres tons of development going on here and most of whats around me is farms. A lot of the farmers have cleared their land in anticipation of commercial development that got cancled due to the economy, and there is 1 1/2 built development and another one that got cancled.

This particular building is a R$$$ Complex IRL. It contains two buildings, both are mirrored of eachother and the one on the side of Meridian Ave is slightly angled. The parking garage actaully isn't the back. On the other side of the garage is gonna be a 10+ Tower, I'm not sure what it is for the on on the side i'm currently working on which is the 12th street side. Thanks guys I appreciate it. I'll get some more work done at some point. The next two weekends are the Gasparilla parades, which if you've ever been to one its amazing. Take Mardi Gras and add pirates, and a pirate ship taking over the downtown. Plus lots of drunken people and tons of hotttt chicks who want beads.

Awesome Awesome. The guy I work with is from Detroit, he's got a B.A. from Lawrence Technical or something like that. He's getting his M.A. at USF.

I'm not sure wehat you mean but this in real life is a Condo/Apartment Building with bottom floor retail. It has a twin building that is slightly larger and with a diagonal element on the red section. Kennedy Blvd Tampa, FL 33602 Some amenties include a rooftop pool and green space area which is going to go ontop of the parking garage that I'm modeling.

Yeah man I live like 5 miles south of S.R 54 by Gunn Hwy. I don't live in the 'burbs, cos all there is out by me is farms and nothingness. But Its ridiculous for me to try to get anywhere cos of the massive traffic problems from Hillsborough County not planning ahead. BTW my HS was built for 2,100 students. How many did we have? 3,000.

This wasn't mentioned but another HUGE problem in Tampa/St. Pete is the cost of living vs wages. They are completely unequal. Affordable living in Tampa means living in a run down neighborhood. Living in a decent neighborhood runs you about 150k-250k and Semi upscale 250-300k. Look at downtown prices they are unfreaking believable.

The unofficial 2006 Census says 4 million, but its really around 2.6 million including the cities that WANT to be a part of the metro. Tampa for the most part pretty urban the surrounding areas of it however are not. Once you leave Waters Ave which is about 6 or so miles north of downtown you enter into a very suburbanized area. South Tampa is very heavily urbanized, though the lax zoning laws have created some random strip malls amongst street front shops and restaurants. The major major major problem with Tampa & Hillsborough County (its self) is that there is no foresight with its future. They never plan ahead and Hillsborough County has been REALLY corrupt for the past 10 years. We just voted out our most corrupt politician but it'll still take a lot to repair the damage that Ronda Storms and Brian Blair have caused. This is the Downtown Core right behind this picture would be Channelside which is still part of the downtown peninsula and to the North East a little more would be Ybor City which is where all the teenager clubs are, past all those skyscrapers is SoHo/Hyde Park where all the rich people live and go party. Straight north of downtown is a new urban area that is being developed known as Tampa Heights (it was just raised) and the same goes with Central Park Village which was a horrible project village, now its going to be a mixed income mixed use urban neighborhood.

Yeah Wheezy! I'd have to agree. There are no bus routes that go anywhere near where I live. Though I live in a extremely low dense area, I still wouldn't have used the bus when I lived in Tampa Heights because HART is always behind.

I'm pretty sure the only area that is ever going to have any form of rail transit in this metro is Tampa. They have a planned GLR to go from the Airport/Westshore Business District to Downtown to USF/New Tampa. They want to make an extensive network, but as I said before, people just aren't behind it. This is a really expensive metro to live in and most people here think only poor people use mass transit

We just elected a new county commissioner who supports rail. But I seriously doubt this area will ever get rail just because of the short sightedness of people of this area.

Downtown Tampa is on the east end of JFK Blvd and Westshore is on the west end of JFK. They are around 6 miles apart from eachother.
