It's awesome to see some construction cranes there. Seriously good work. Cheers.
-
I like the idea of how you incorporated some storms into your CJ. One thing I would suggest would be to eliminate the UDI icons and the menu. Other than that, great story line. Cheers.
-
Wow, the last 3 updates have been amazing. Great work! Especially the Svensda Business Bay. Cheers.

Sunset Point Lighthouse
rusty_777 commented on Hawkeye9's City Journal Entry in Haven Cove: An Island Metropolis
I really like the photoshop effects. I use CS4 (Adobe Suite) to do mine, what do you use? Nevertheless, it all looks great. Very scenic coatline. -
Great shots of your city, the highway looks amazing. Those sound walls around the avenue add a nice touch and effectively add some realism.

Trip 4: From Tech Building to Alarconia World Financial Center
rusty_777 commented on TekindusT's City Journal Entry in Taxi Driver: My city behind the windshield
Awesome title. It's a great way to get some people to look here for sure. I would suggest getting a slope mod for those hills on that terrain. It looks great now but would look even better with that. Cheers. -
Riot strikes city
rusty_777 commented on pcwhiz24's City Journal Entry in Island Cities: a Growing Region
You have some really nice street mod there; just looks odd with the mismatched roundabouts. I also like the high weath low-density residential areas, must be nice. There is some scenic areas which add a nice touch to the areas. One suggestions would be to have a radical automa modd to increase the amount of traffic on the streets. Sure, your city is thriving, but it looks dead. Those avenues should be busy! However, everything looks great. Nice to see some people building an entire city near an active volcano, haha. Good storyline. Cheers. -
Hey everyone! Well I hope this update is as good as I have been playing it out to be. As always thanks for your comments everyone (only 3 this time). psander5: Thanks for the comments. I really hope you like this update, theres Revelstoke's first mosaic shot. I will update in this section for now. ky72x: Thanks for the comments Kyle. I will keep on updating here for the moment; it's just easier for me at least. Hawkeye9: Thanks for the comment and I hope you like this update. Now, for Revelstoke's first mosaic: As always I hope this update was second to none. Please comment and let me know what you think. Cheers.

I really like the LRT System in the city, but doesn't it seem a little odd for a city that size to have a mass transit system; just a thought, haha. Otherwise looks great. I must say, that you have really great images, especially the Google Earth image of your region. Also, your suburbs (I don't know if you are going for the new approach to curved roads in the suburbs) look awesome. Hopefully, the traffic shouldn't be too bad. Maybe look at some road top mass transit bus stations to alleviate the congestion (if it is a problem). Keep up the good work. Cheers.

I think this is the first time I have commented here and I am highly impressed. These shots are amazing and it even looks like you have some Photoshop effects in there as well with your signs. Excellent urbanism take and it really creates an "older" style feel in the last few updates. Too bad ST had long CJ pages; these take forever to load on my work PC. But it was worth the wait. Keep up the great work Kyle. Cheers.

Franklin County - 12th Anniversary Update, All-Nighttime Shots of New Riverside Downtown
rusty_777 replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 City Journals
Excellent graphs, using Excel 2007 right? -
Great shots. For even more comments you should upload your images to a third-party site like photobucket.com for easy viewing. Just a positive suggestion. Good luck. Cheers.

Hey everyone, and thanks for the comments! I am finally back and playing the game. This is welcome back. I just wanted to let everyone know that I was originally expecting to have frequent updates in my journal back a month or so ago but unfortunately due to firmaware issues I lost my last update (and my entire internal hard drive). Needless to say, luckily I back up my city quite often to my external drive. I didn't loose much (maybe a weeks work) so I am working to ensure everything is back, if not better, than what it was before. Also, I have been working with Adobe After Effects on some tutorials and I hope to amalgamate them to some of my updates as well (sounds exciting hey?). I have really nothing to show off, at the moment, but just to talk to everyone and notify them that I am on my way back and working behind the scenes. However, when September comes please don't anticipate frequent updates again either because I will be focused with school again and I will do my best to avoid RLS. Here are some replies to your comments. Shadow_Assassin: Thanks for the comments, and I am sure that the high-rises will become more popular. A lot of cities here in Canada are doing it. Take London @ Heritage Station in Calgary, Alberta for example. jacquilina: Thanks for the comment. MTLT_17: Thanks for the comments and I will include some pictures of the developments west of Citadel Ridge. Deerfoot Trail in the city needs some work. I've notice the new NAM have some curved RHW puzzle pieces so I will include those in some "infastructure improvements". jonpaulosiglos: Thanks for the comments and that would be great for an advertisement in your city. TmiguelT: Thanks for the comment and I am glad you like the advertisement. danielcote: Thanks for the comment and thanks for the page header! GreekMan: Nice new avatar picutre. I am glad you like the planning. It is key to a cities success. I will talk about Revelstoke 2 below the comments. masochist: Thanks for the comment and I hope to build on there very soon. ky72x: Thanks for the great comment! Great observation on my realism take on the suburbs. Hawkeye9: Thanks for the comment. Nice comments and I am back. I won't abandon a CJ without telling everyone first. As for everyone else, thanks for the views and please comment on here. I have an announcement to make. I will be contemplating on either continuing this CJ on this section or on the "new" CJ section (Revelstoke 2.0); it won't be both. It's hard to say what I will decide to do so I am asking my commenters and viewers where to go from here. I don't want to attach a poll just because I want this to be as voluntary as possible. Additionally, I may be creating a website as well. It will entail my CJ, some Adobe files I have created, etc. Let me know what you think. I am always open to external comments as well at riffelr@gmail.com. Cheers.

Nice selection off the STEX. In picture number three you should really take a look at leveling some of the terrain with the highway artery system there. Cheers.
-
It looks realistic so far. One suggestion would be to post some areas of "Tokyo" that you are recreating. For a couple reasons: that we can get an idea of which areas your are creating into the game and that we can provide positive feedback on. The recreation looks awesome, the sunken roads are my favorite. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Thanks Dirk. I signed up as well. Good luck everyone. Cheers.

Above is an ad for the next winter season for Revelstoke Ski Resort (TBC Fall 2009). Help keep BC strong promotional video correlating to today's economy. Cheers.

I agree with danielcote, these updates are quick! You may want to utilize a photo editing program to get larger pictures. 800x600. Not to say they aren't good. You definitely have a variety of BATs out there. Good work and congratulations on the completion of this City Journal. Cheers.

Impressive. Nice, complex, and strategic layout of your "bullet network". They are innovative and effective. How do you find they cope with congestion? Anyways your city is quite dense. I understand that the bullet network is fairly new and hasn't yet had a chance to effectively transfer Sims from one transport to another but I would assume it would have a lot more trains, maybe it's just me. There still is a lot for a normal city. One thing I really do like is picture ten where you have a main station hub with the parking garages. It shows you really know how to manage the transport network to it's best capacity. Not that you didn't know how to already. This is my favorite city journal on Simtropolis due to the creator utilizing the most out of the network. Great work Halkackey, again, I am impressed. Cheers.
-
The mosaic on page 11 is excellent. I also like your typography and photoshop effects on your images. 10/10 for sure. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
-
Great last update. When you use photoshop what sizes are your pictures at? Are they 800 x 600 when you save them as a .JPEG image? Because if they are not and you are uploading them at that size you are compressing the photo. It is best to use photoshop to resize photos rather than image shack or photo bucket.

Just completed some work with CS4 on an advertisement for Revelstoke's major freeway, Deerfoot Trail. Cheers.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the comments, views, and suggestions. I appreciate the quick flow of comments with my initial update as I did not expect to be welcomed back in this manner. I have set a tentative date for my next update as per my topic summary. First things first. On my return I noticed a new City Journal section. In the coming months I will develop a continued section there and update here as well. What does this mean for you? Basically two City Journals on the same Website. I don't know if this section will soon be replaced by the new section. But it has been getting a lot of positive feedback. However, I will be updating here for the time being and when the time comes that I decide to switch to Revelstoke 2.0 (the new section) I will notify you all. There is one thing that will not be switched over: the pictures. Revelstoke 2.0 will be a continuation of the city as is. It will not contain previous updates, comments, or posts. I apologize for the inconvenience but that is some time I do not have to sacrifice at the moment. I have created some new typography for my journal which will replace the prior Revelstoke Logo. Before I post the image I will reply to your comments. Thanks to everyone who has replied. psander5: That's right! Revelstoke is back. Due to some hard drive errors I will not be updating for a little. Citadel Ridge, impeccable? That's great to hear. With the high-density residential I really like it too. It breaks up the suburban dread of block to block and adds some diversification to Revelstoke. In my opinion I am testing out some means for transportation and how areas like this cope with the additional commuters. Cities like Calgary have condos like this too. I fixed the caption on 17.8 blu sinjid:Thanks for the comments. It's not a high-rise downtown though, just some high-density condos along Red Coat Trail. I'm glad you like my suburbs. danielcote: Thanks for the comments and I won't promise something if I don't mean it. SC4Poser-moser: Thanks for the comments and a lot of major cities do plan out their main thoroughfares in order to get the most efficiency out of the network. A weak network results in congestion, long commutes, and high maintenance. dfnva: Thanks for all the comments Dan. I'm glad you like my suburbs. rjkrox: Thanks for the comment. I did base the generic road layout on Lethbridge, as well as some of the terrain. But that is as far as it goes. Victor Valdes: Thanks for the comment Victor. I hope you enjoy my next update. haljackey: Thanks for the comments and Happy belated Easter to you. My pictures were huge but I did resize them. I updated later at night and had forgot to change the size so I apologize. Windy streets and a grid, what a comment? Haha, well that's my goal. I hope it looks good. Your journal looks as good as always! And glad to see you using the new CJ section. How are you finding it? sedimenjerry: Thanks for the comment. And I'm glad you didn't delete it just yet. The fall and winter semester of school required a lot of time from my schedule and I had to sacrifice some of my time. Twenty20: Thanks for the comment! GreekMan: Thanks for the comment! One of the best comments so far. This is some great encouragement for my continuation of the CJ. masochist: Thanks for the comments. Congrats on MOTM2! You don't see that too often. I will have some more updates in the coming weeks. edmonton_stinks: Calgary is my favourite city, that's why. Great street names in my opinion. Calgary has some random high-rises off of Macleod Trail: London Phase 1 & 2. jonpaulosiglos: Thanks for the comment. MTLT_17: Thanks for the "comment" haha. We never go 50 km/h here. It's always 55-60 km/h. I really like how Vic. Ave. is now 70 km/hr. Can you remember when it was 50 km/hr? Here is my new advertising picture for Revelstoke. Again, thanks for the comments and suggestions. Cheers.

Well this isn't welcome back just yet. Just a preview of things to come and a little something to let you all know I haven't died. I have to apologize for leaving you all hanging here but I'm sure you all know that school takes priority over video games...right? Haha. Well through the "dead" phase I would like to thank you all for still visiting my CJ and commenting. It's not like I haven't been on the website to check out my city either. I would also like to thank those of you who had nominated me for some of the CJ awards. I really appreciate it and it's unfortunate I have yet to receive one. However, before my update I will take some time to reply to your comments first. haljackey: Thanks for the comments and congratulations on your awards!! (and new comment " Click for full resolution"). I appreciate the comment on the nomination. Ntq$310: Thanks for the comments. A unique comment too: not too many people can stay interested in the game by zoning the majority of the city as low density. However, in my opinion, you zone out before you zone up. TrentonD: Thanks for the comments. Haha nice connections to Clagary, especially the logo. I saw it when I competed in the national skills competition in Calgary last year. SirUnger: Thanks for the comments, and the suburbs are what I am going for at this point in my journal. TEG24601: Thanks for the comment! Shadow_Assassin: Thanks for the comment man (although I think I already told you that over msn). I hope your break is going well, as is mine. Godzillaman: I like the comment and thanks. I have tried to make the city grow fast. Although it did take a little break. GreekMan: Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you read my review! The night mod is available at Sim City Central. danielcote: Thanks for the comment! The mass transit will grow as the population grows. At this point it would cost too much for such a small population. Busses will suffice for a few thousand more residents. anarchy0029: Your work is great too. Thanks for the comment. dfnva: Thanks for the comment. blue sinjid: Thanks for the comment. I must apologize to you for visiting my CJ and then for me having the absence of updates. If you get a chance to read this link me to some of your city suburban areas. Congrats on the Awe Inspiring CJ by the way. jacqulina: Thanks for the comments as always. Never seem to have an absence from you. newyorkrunaway1: Thanks for the comment. Twenty20: Thanks for the comment and realism is my goal! Hawkeye9: Thanks for the comment. School went excellent through the last 2 semesters also. Finally here's an update. Jill Jacobs: Thanks for the comment and congratulations on the trixie. Cemeteries are usually large where I live. Nexis: Thanks for the comment. Graiskye: Thanks for the comment. I love Salmon Arm. I drove through Revelstoke and Salmon Arm last summer for a trip to Pemberton BC for a music festival. My cemetery is not a custom BAT. It was downloaded of off the STEX and it is a creative compilation of numerous combinations of pieces. I will apologize again, especially to sedimenjerry! And I wanted to give a special thank you to haljackey for confirming that this CJ is not dead. This is just some hard evidence that it is still alive and this is just a case of RLS. Comments are welcome...as always. Cheers. Edit: resize photos

I haven't commented in a long long time. But as I can see at least one thing has changed on ST. You're updates have gotten even better. The highway infrastructure is as always uniquely impressive. The university looks impressive and large to match the scale of your city (that's a good thing). One thing I really liked was the "U-Turn" on the GLR. It's a great detail that a lot of people seem to leave out and yours looks just some of the major real cities. Great work. Also, the Sanye A380 picture before the update is awesome! Great amalgamation and I would appreciate a link Haljackey. Even though the last pic was intended to be funny I do like your airport exterior colour. It looks great and has a complex layout (just like any real airport, right haha ) Well the best of luck and I will be lurking around here (classes are lessening now so that means I will finally revive my CJ). Cheers.
