Especially that IMO, the guy doesn't deserve it (I'm talking about W, not you obviously!). I agree that he passed his exam since he got the absolute numerical minimum on the qualifying test (=25). Strange is the fact that despite a waiting list of 100,000 men trying to get into the Guard, a list of 150 pilot applicants who often had to wait 18 months to be considered for flight school in Texas unit, he got in really fast. Some friends (Barnes, Rose...) made it possible. It's not a secret that the probability to see that particular F-102 unit in the sky of Vietnam was almost zero. That's the reason why many rich and powerful families send their sons in it (Bentsen, Connally... and several members of the Dallas Cowboys!). So that's a very brief snapshot of a story that is very interesting... and disgusting. I keep trying to be open-minded and put tremendous efforts to understand perspectives radically different than mine, which helped me a lot in other countries I lived in. @MsD: yes, I probably tried beef tongue (and many other parts) without my knowledge in Africa. Frog's legs in Quebec province are really appreciated and it's a gourmet meal. Regarding blood pudding, does it look like a slice from really big sausage? If it's yes and the taste spicy, then I already tried (and not really appreciated) it and boudin is the French name. In the fish category, we used to eat everything in my small village in Senegal. There's a species of small fish they're grounding to get fish meatballs. Since the grounding machine is archaic and not totally effective, some surprises do happen! One night, I was having diner in the dark (there's no electricity). Someone passed with an oil lamp and right before me, in that sudden flash of light, I had a meatball observing me! In fact, the eye didn't get ground and happened to be on the ball's surface... In fact, one of the few meat I don't eat at all is hot dog sausage. Well, it's not really meat and it's full of carcinogenic stuff. BTW, I just revisited the ST Christmas wish list. I had absolutely no intention to make you cry but if it happened, well, I'm not really sorry since it wasn't in a harmful way! I happy that my wish is on its way to be realized. Regarding Truckin_Papa's seat, my chair warming device is already in action. I hope N_O_Body will get cold Guinness or something like that for him.

As a scientist, I'm quite skeptical about ghosts or other hollow creatures. Since I'm trying to look at reality objectively, I would say that there are so many things that's science can't explain everything and never will. I've seen thing beyond my imagination in Africa... So I'm in the center: not sure.

The nothing should go to waste concept applies in Africa too for obvious reasons... Eating beef is especially thrilling since it can be the best or worst meal around, depending which chunk you hit. The best when it's a tender part of a muscle, the worst when you have a piece of the stomach (which is a rather large organ in a cow). When the beef is fried and serve on top of rice, those pieces are easy to spot and avoid (the whole familiy is eating in the same large bowl BTW; you can leave them to others). When there's a sauce... So when yout teeth can co through something crunchy rubber, emergency precedures applies: smallowing the whole thing ASAP... Regarding ruining diner, I'm immunized to that. In addition to a few African meals (most are delightful BTW), my biology classes did a good job. Dissection once a week on sometimes not very fresh carcasses and movies on human worm parasites just before lunch was something we were used to. Is Truckin_Papa gone on a run? Well, I'm done for now.
