No residential road connection with NAM 36 in old cities
johnb10000 replied to johnb10000's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I got it working. Before you could plop down some, residential, commercial and industrial zones and buildings would immediately pop up in all zones. When I made the industrial zones a lot bigger the housing finally started to develop. -
No residential road connection with NAM 36 in old cities

SimCity 4 was downloaded from gog.com and I don't know if it came with mods or plug-ins. The affected region is a copy of the London region where I modified the config.bmp file so I can have many larger cities in the region. The test layout is just a single road with some industrial zones on one end and residential on the other end with of a gap of a few tiles between the zones. Each zone is a square about 15 tiles across. All the cities tested used the same format. I tried obliterating a couple of cities and this layout still didn't work The test layout works fine with existing cities in the Berlin, original London and the Timbuktu tutorial regions. -
No residential road connection with NAM 36 in old cities

After installing NAM version 36 there is no road connection from the residential areas to industrial or commercial areas in certain cities in a region. Houses momentarily show the no road connection symbol but won't develop. The city population stays at zero. The original road, street and avenues were used instead of the NAM roads. This problem only occurs on an existing city or a city that has been completely obliterated. If a residential area is placed near a industrial or commercial area in a new city the industrial and residential will quickly develop with traffic between them. Everything works fine in a new city. In an old city there is no traffic from the residential area to the industrial or commercial areas. This problem still occurs if I obliterate the city and start over. When placing a residential area close to an industrial area the houses won't develop and there is absolutely no residential traffic to the industrial area. Industrial and commercial areas quickly develop. Connecting a road from the industrial areas to the edge of the map results in truck traffic to the other city but residential still won't develop. If a building like a school, police station or another building is placed on the other side of the industrial area then the houses will finally develop with traffic going to the school and other buildings. There still is no traffic going to any of the industrial or commercial buildings. -
The Unofficial Official Petition to Reinstate MMO

I started playing this game the week they shut down the online version so unfortunately I didn't get to experience the online version of the game. They could try the model where the game is free but charge extra for special buildings or additional cities. This seems to work for Facebook games. -
Try clicking on the button to show resources. Exit the city then open the city again. This seems to work if the last button you click on is resources before exiting from the city. Sometimes you get all the resources and at other times some resources are missing. When this happens you will have to select each resource one at a time. If you are missing water then click on the water resource button then close then open the city

PROS -Good graphics. -Roads and bridges are easy to build. -I like the idea that cities have resources and I hope they add this to the next version of Simcity. CONS -Can't trade with my own cities in single player mode and Omnicorp prices are way too high. -Missing public transit such as buses and rail.

Stef42 I would also like to see pictures of how you used the bridges to create on/off ramps. The freeway on and off ramps take up a lot of space. I tried using bridges and avenues to create something similar to a freway but it also took up a lot of space. I

Is it possible to trade with other cities I have created in single player mode? I have created three cities where two of the cities produce a huge surplus of farm goods or heavy industry to supply a third city. Unfortunately the only trader I can see is Omnicorp.

I have also been trying to connect a freeway bridge to a freeway. Is there some trick to it or is this part of the game not finished?
