I was able to contact Origin and get a refund. I then went to Steam and purchased a copy from them and have been happy ever since. I went through the troubleshooting to appease them and then they pointed me to https://community.simtropolis.com/sc4-maxis-files/ where I quoted them from the page: "Note: Digital versions of SC4 do not require this, providing they are fully patched (1.1.641.0). A notable exception is the Origin edition which is both unpatched and unpatchable, and therefore not recommended." I then told them all I wanted was my money back so I could purchase a copy from Steam. They consulted a supervisor and refunded my money. Hope this helps anyone who was unfortunate enough to purchase from Origin after I did.
