It's not about who's more terrorized. When you have a conflict between a group of white supremacists and a group who opposes white supremacists, the latter pretty much automatically has the moral high ground regardless of who does what. Hence why I am troubled by all the waffling over "but it's free speech" and "but antifa was violent too". These are true statements, but to dwell on them is to lose focus of the primary issue here - namely, that there was a protest organized by a group whose idols are best known for committing genocide and starting half of a world war. Regardless of what rights such scum may have, they will get no sympathy and no defense from me.

It's certainly normal to want to learn whatever you can about your opponent, but it is quite illegal to spy on them in their private spaces. This is what brought Nixon's presidency to an early end back in 1974, it was found his staff had snuck into the offices of his opponent during the election campaign and planted spy equipment in order to record their private conversations. The Trump campaign is now suspected to have done basically the same thing - except rather than engaging in any spying themselves, they simply talked to their buddies in Russia and said "hey, mind sharing some of the intel your spies have gathered?" Still, it's too early to say what, if anything, this ultimately means. For one thing, without further investigation all we have is suspicion, not proof. Any formal investigation would have to be ordered by congress, which at this time does not seem too keen on doing so. Meanwhile the fact that Trump's own people did not get any of their hands dirty may allow them to weasel their way out of this since obtaining intel from the Russians, while unethical, is not necessarily illegal. Of course, it takes a 2/3rds majority vote to remove a president from office by impeachment, so that can't happen without a bipartisan effort. Nixon's downfall was that he lost the support of his own party. Bill Clinton survived being impeached because the Democrats defended him through the whole process. Trump is not going to be removed from office unless the Republican party hangs him out to dry the same as they did with Nixon.

(5870) The current Marvel universe movies are actually pretty good. But then, they don't have much in the way of precedent to adhere to. Star Wars on the other hand has a lot of precedent to adhere to. It was painfully obvious watching The Force Awakens that George Lucas did not direct it, and that alone was enough to ruin it as far as I'm concerned. It didn't feel like a Star Wars movie. It felt like I was watching fanfiction. I suppose, though, that to some degree that was Disney responding to all of the complaints about the prequel trilogy and the absurd idea that Star Wars somehow needed to be "saved from George Lucas". They made a movie with scenery that was similar to the scenery of the original trilogy and shoved a bunch of blatant fanservice into it. Meanwhile it had a chaotic and contrived plot, didn't really honor the characters depicted (they turned Han into a bumbling idiot), and they didn't even properly capture the full classic aesthetic because they gave it the quick cuts and zippy camera movements of a 21st century action movie rather than sticking to the more subdued Lucas style. But everyone loved it because it looked like the original movies and that was all they really cared about. So yeah, it's fair to say the fans ruined it. The fans demanded crap... and they got it.

(5825) It's fun when things written to be in the future end up in the past, innit? The original Duke Nukem (released in 1991) was supposed to be set in 1999. Duke Nukem 3D (released in 1996) takes place in December of 2007 according to the calendars on the wall that appear in various places in the game. Obviously by this point we can dismiss all this as an alternate universe timeline. I'd say the same of The Terminator, but they've hidden retconning under time travel enough times that it's totally plausible all that happened in our world and we just don't know about any of it because the time travel fixed it out of existence.

Age of Ultron was completely tedious because the Avengers spent the whole movie chasing down and destroying a beast that they created in the first place. I mean I get the whole "they're fighting their own internal demons" trope but it has no place in a superhero movie. Superheros are supposed to be superhuman, they're not supposed to have internal demons or any of those sort of human failings - they're supposed to be the unambiguously good guys that beat the unambiguously bad guys and save the day.

Nope. People have long believed random nonsense they hear without fact checking it, except now it's "fake news" rather than "old wives tales". The media deliberately sensationalizing things and printing unsubstantiated assumptions as fact is nothing new, either. Remember the Maine?

Well it's good that he doesn't still have THAT avatar. He was awarded "Most improved Avatar" for changing it from that to this. While I'm waving my cane at the kids on my lawn, I'll also point out that that frankenbunny GIF was originally created and used by a member named Abby Normal who probably hasn't logged in since 2003. Its second user, of course, has made it much more iconic than its first.
