Well, heres an excuse not to post any pics of my latest CJ. It doesn't exist yet. I have decided to start from scratch a region i call Atopolis, after the game im making. (it is a kind of cool name isn't it?). Then i had the idea that i could actually show you the city AS it grows. So what i'm going to do is employ any one in the forum as members of the council and we can all have decisions on the region. I will be the mayor of course but i will pick anyone who comes to be a transportation, educational etc member. As the region grows we can see whos ideas worked.
-
The council can also incluide voluntary members. Anyone can comment as i post pics or suggest. I will provide detailed info, but here are the rules. I have set myself these rules. The region must eventually have at least 500,000 in pop. The environment rating for each city should eventually be at least ahlf way green. That it should be a clean green region with hi tech industry. That there will be a good transport system.

Lack of highway use disturbing...
atomius replied to 6SpeedTA95's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It is a common fact taht simcity's transport system works starngely. basically if you want sims to use highways rather than avenues all you can domis make more highways. -
Yes your city is very interesting.

Suggestions on possible grid layout for my city.
atomius replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in SC4 Showcase
Yes. I am most amused by these wonderful grids. I am just starting a new city called Krillik in which the grids are 4 by 4. Strange, i hear you say? Well consider this. r r r r r rr r commer r r r r r r cial r r r r r r r Thus there is a nice square lot of commerce. Whereas for residential (nice euro contemporary is my fave tileset for res) i have mainly rectangular inbuilt grids. -
Well i never thought i'd say this, but your current work looks bonser. I will follow the journal. I know i once wanted to do a from scratch CJ, but my computer broke down before i could.

Irony. Ah yes, my favourite of the many humorae. Well i think that's a very nice bridge. I love the way you made it start and end with a tunnel. I see you didn't use any mods for that too. Well i know iv'e earnt the reputation of Mr No Images but i will tell you about my most scenic area. In my latest region of Krillik there is a little place i likes to call East Krillik. It's a mainly agricultural and residential town with a pop of about a thousand. It is situated on a smooth but curved coastline. theres a nice scenic railway too. remember in 2000 where there was a nice city with a scenic railroad in scenarios?

Suggestions on possible grid layout for my city.
atomius replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in SC4 Showcase
In my downtown areas i generally use a four by five grid. In subs i use a six by six grid. I have one by two tile houses and fill the square in the middle with parks. p=park h-house r=road r r r r r r r hhhhhr r hhphhr r hhphhr r hhhhhr r r r r r r -

Show Us Your Citys Signature Avenue/Boulevard/Drive!
atomius replied to DuskTrooper's topic in SC4 Showcase
One question, how did you get those skyscrapers when your city was so small? is there a huge residential neighbourhood hidden under the ground? -
Two Questions.. One with transportation and Hi-tech
atomius replied to The Sim Mayor's topic in SC4 Showcase
As well as education, if you want more hi tech than dirty, don't just lower taxes for ht and raise those for ditry, plant lots of trees in industrial areas. If you zone, then make a forest over the tiles, youre more likely to get hi tech. if you put trees, trees, and even more trees as vigorously as you can you will get more. This is a known fact, not a guess. But yes, education is still the main thing. -
i felt it was about time to showcase soe of our best and worst, latest and smallest avatars. To start things off, my current avatar is based on my old one, nicknamed starfield ato. it was based on the last Tom Baker theme tune from the 1980-81 doctor who series. The current one is based on the Peter Davison 1982-4 tune starfield animations.

Hello. Yo wassup. Bonjour. G'day. Right, to the point. You may know that i have been a bit quiet on my city building frotn lately. being tied up in studies is one thing, but also cleasning up my computer desk is another. My latest region is called Immortalia and its first city is called Oursurvey. feel free to brood over what you think my city is like. I'll come back later and laugh at your bad theories, but to the point. The city is based on a large river, has a small rigged edged boating alkea nd a high plateau to the north of the river. It has a population of about 5000 and my first medium density apartments are coming in. I am starting to add amenities. But what is the secret of the 1000+ earnings per month? Simply transport.... You see, the main problem with cities as tehy grow is that congestion stops people from getting to there jobs leading to abandonment of big buildings and the eventual fall of your empire. The trick? Simply to build all trasnportation networks BEFORE you zone and build. Its that simple. It doesnt cost that much in the long run as long as you don't put an eleveated railway through macdonalds orchard, but you egt the point. Good transport means good cities.

my dear accomplices, i shall ahve images of the city soon. i simply need to download it onto my home computer. i'm on the library one at the moment for i ahve been very busy with campaign systematics..

Lou and Andy eh'? Blimey. You can put anything in those 80 by 80 pixel boxes! My animated doctor who style avatar is almost complete. It's a hundred frames long and is almost at the limit of Game makers compatiabilities! -
indeed. well Oursurvey is to be my next largest city after Alenvale. old alen's getting on in years. he's fifty next year.
