  1. Minimum set of mods

I remember a post some time ago that listen teh basic set of mods one should start with before adding anything else, such as NAM, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me to it please?
  2. Minimum set of mods

This thread I am talking about was from a while before the STEX CD came out.
  3. Minimum set of mods

Perhaps I should clarify: there was a post about a recommended set of files, such as the NAM, and some sets of frequently used dependency files such as lots, props and so on. Just the essentials, like the ones that make more realistic terrain and water, better traffic/trip handling, things that should have been in the game from the beginning (except the "frequently used dependencies").
  4. GTA San Andreas PC/Xbox

Date: 5/6/2005 8:58:56 PM Author: thatmonkeysim can we get back on subject please?quote> No ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Try here for a good graphics card, helomoto, I recommend a nVidia GeForce 6600 128MB or 256MB AGP card, you get a lot for your money on those, just not bleeding-edge performance. Use a credit card, one with buyer's insurance like AmEx, VISA or MasterCard, because pricewatch is just a listing service, * anyone * can advertise there, even scammers. http://www.pricewatch.com/
  5. Which Music Would You Rather Listen To

(It's Beethoven) Jefferson Airplane, of course Cocoon Compilation A or Trancemaster 4006?
  6. Desktop.. Everyone has one of these!

hmm...as I am tidying up my comp to install a new HD, my desktop is a bit boring atm, I've made it a lot smaller so it doesn't waste much space: Usually I use images from these places for my wallpapers: http://www.animewallpapers.com/ http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/ http://www.abm-enterprises.net/wallpaper.html http://www.shiftedreality.com/ and I have a program that changes it when I boot my computer (turn it on, not kick it ;p) if a day or more has gone by since the last change.
  7. Do you really read long posts? Be honest

Since I have been known to make really long forum posts, I generally like to skim others' long posts at the very least, it's only fair

  9. Mandelare, the w2w experience

How did you get the vanderaap stuff translated from SC3 BAP to SC4 BAT format?
  10. The Great Plains

    * SNIX * You guys need to get out more, your sense of humour has been lost amid all the city-building p.s. I agree, this IS the best CJ ever, if mostly for the predictable reactions from all the members
  11. Next-Gen Consoles Thread

Dang, you're absolutely right, but it sure looks good. The great thing about virtual worlds is, you can have things that just don't exist in the real world

Had some thoughts about the windows: 1) Use a separate texture for the window frames and the window panes, so they don't look like they are pasted in. 2) Go for a glass wall effect with no window frame, just a long row of glass panes set right into one large cutout along a wall (I'll try to snap an example from a local building, or locate one somewhere).
  13. Is my BAT worth a download, or what should be better?

The building is sweet, I'll DL it as soon as I can. I recommend that you get a copy of IrfanView ( http://www.irfanview.com ) or some other graphic tool so you can crop your screenshots and focus on the building you are trying to...uhh...focus on
  14. Next-Gen Consoles Thread

Whatever storage media is used for the games is pretty much irrelevant, it's just a storage device. If they could store games on a ham & swiss cheese sandwich, it wouldn't matter to me, as long as it worked and didn't get moldy That said, it sure is handy to be able to watch DVDs on a console and not have to buy a separate piece of equipment to watch movies on. I think of it basically this way, the only use for consoles is the ability to sit in front of your tv and play a game with your buddies instead of being at your computer, where it's a lot harder to do the social thing. Computers have better graphics, faster processors, bigger hard drives, and support more controllers than consoles, the only thing they lack is the social aspect. Even if you have a basement with 5 computers networked together it's not going to be the same as slacking on the sofa in front of a tv.

You might want to considers doors for people to get out of the buildings onto the pedways And the pedways could be a lot smaller, they are a bit large in scale, unless you planned them to be absolutely huge...given an assumed size of the lecture areas, your walkways could be anywhere from 30 to 60 feet wide.
  16. If you wanted to take this project to a logical extreme, you could set up a complete SC4 Object Database and Plugin Manager which would allow you to directly access the values of not only the built-in lots, props, BATs and so on, but anything anyone else added. Possible features: Store the default information for all Maxis objects. Add and remove objects, taking care of putting all files in the correct places. Hook into the BAT program or directly edit the objects (both very ambitious) to tweak values. Create a new default object with certain attributes, which you could then edit in the BAT and other tools. There is no limit to where this could be taken, and really something like it should have been in SC4 right from the beginning. I hope they make one for SC5.
  17. Post Your Picture Here!

ok, haven't got this inline picture thing quite figured out yet, and it's not easy typing with paws, but here goes, I had a pretty rough morning the day this was taken so it's not my best pic or anything:
  18. Tunnel Ventilation Bldgs

You do some awesome work, I am sure you will come up with something.
  19. In your opinion, Melbourne or Sydney?

Brisbane is Queensland's largest city and Australia's third largest metro area. It is located in the subtropics enjoying an enviable climate of hot, bright summers and warm, mild winters that makes any time of year a good time to visit. A modern city dotted with parks and lying beneath clear blue skies makes Brisbane a refreshing change from most major capitals. Brisbane's skyline is also rather different from other Australian cities, as it contains no especially tall buildings yet it has the densest central business district in Australia. (pic didn't work right, I'll have to learn how to do that, you can view it by clicking the attachment below)
  20. Tunnel Ventilation Bldgs

There are tons of tunnel vent images on Google, if you do a search for tunnel vent, then up at the top, click the images link: http://home.cogeco.ca/~pblonde2/images.jpg Here's one that I liked: http://home.cogeco.ca/~pblonde2/vent1.jpg Here's an awesome one right in the side of a red cliff face, for a larger project, this jpg file is 800x600, just a warning, as you asked for only 640x480 but reducing the res really crapped the picture up on my PSP: http://home.cogeco.ca/~pblonde2/vent2.jpg
  21. Metakontex

The thick outlines on the blue/black entranceway are a little rough, but otherwise a great "hi-tech" look
  22. JBM Well

Lower it, but don't lose it completely, it looks much better than a "black hole" (or brown, given the image posted ;p )
