Thank you a lot for this information. I was just going to ask about it. A few of the options are rather explanatory to new people like myself. A few questions about what you have posted, if I may. Q: Does setting a custom resolution have any benefit, an how do I know what custom resolution my system can handle? Q: Can you tell from this image what would be better Hardware or Software Rendering? Note - I'm on a laptop capable of playing blu-ray which is about 2-3 years old if I'm not mistaken. Note #2 - It states that a computer with maxed out subscores would be rated 5.9 being the highest possible

SimCity 4 Download Taking Ages
zombie615 replied to zombie615's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I'll try this now cause I've done tried downloading this damn thing 5 times an every time I get a network error at about 90Mb downloaded. Or it will loose connection. This is a new issues because just the other day I was downloading things lightning fast. Now I feel like I have a Dial-up connection on everything that I've tried downloading. Edit - Done what you said. OMG it downloaded super fast like it suppose to. Took less than a minute. Much appreciated. -
Well I had a good attempt at making models but after all this confusion of what program version to use an what not to use. I think I may just stick with doing the simple stuff lol

SimCity 4 Download Taking Ages
zombie615 replied to zombie615's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Purchase Location: Amazon Connection Speed: 52Mbps File Size: 1.9GB Patience: None Total Time to complete download: I slept through it lol Yeah I won't make this mistake again... but hey at least now I know I have a complete clean slate. As before I think I actually had more than one of the game installed on my system but I might be wrong. Could have resulted in my plug-ins issue. Okay so now I'm having another issue. Nam 32 Download - Estimated time: 19 Hours (WTF!!!!) It's only 240Mb how is this tme even possible. Something must be wrong with my ISP an their download speeds. Cause just about a week ago when I originally downloaded Name 32 it took a matter of seconds.... Oh bother.... (winnie the pooh reference lol) -
Here is what I've choosen for my target file from the above link an what you've said as well. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -intro:off -audio:off (Notes) I just went an tested this out without the use of any mods or plugins just the complete vanilla setup as comes with the install of the game. Loading times have been drastically cut in half, very pleased. Used to take about 4 - 6 minutes from time of clicking the shortcut to actually having a city loaded an playing the game. Now one click an 1 minute or less I'm already playing the game. Now I just need to figure out the best setup for the graphics options. Right now I have the following...

Windows Vista SP2 SC4 Proper Installation
zombie615 replied to zombie615's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
So just to be sure this is the correct location to install the game? I have also a folder on my desktop in which I named "Maxis Games" and within that folder I have the "SimCity 4 Deluxe (Download)" folder. Is that the folder in which I should place my plugins? Note - Same as last time my problem occurs here. If I place the plugins within the folder located on the desktop the game doesn't recognize any plugins. So not sure what I'm doing wrong exactly. I haven't yet installed the game. I'm waiting for confirmation as to the location picture. Edit - As of now I have installed the game an have installed only the Nam 32. Plus, I've changed the Target Line on the shortcut. So far so good. Game is running a lot faster an feels more stable. I've also been able to place the Nam 32 in the correct plug-ins folder as you advised an it is now working correctly. Thanks Guys! -
Thank you for the advice. Much appreciated. I will read up some more on these hidden modeling techniques to capitalize on the looks of my future projects.

How far away will people travel to work?
zombie615 replied to simcityerr's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I believe there should be a mod to make it where you need residential in your current city or a city connected to your current city for Industrial or Commercial to grow. Sounds really confusing unless these people theoretically travel from another region that doesn't exist an setup shop an as you said live on the grounds of the work place. *Slaps Face* It's a game..... lol -
What's the furthest away you've ever seen a city skyline?

I can see the Sydney Oprah House from my living room here in Tennessee. If you count Google Earth -
Windows Vista SP2 SC4 Proper Installation
zombie615 replied to zombie615's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
(Plug-ins & Modds) - That have given me trouble + MMP's + STEX Region Maps + ilive Reader ( Never changes anything in the game - not sure why ) + Certain Plug-in's that require Dependencies tend to not recognize that I have the dependencies so they don't load in-game at all. Not even brown boxes. (Plug-ins & Modds) - That I have gotten to work + Gmax + Lot Editor + PIM + SimPeg custom scenery ( to an extent ) + Spam Agriculture + NAM 32 ( With various minor issues that I don't worry about cause I don't use them anyhow ) + SC4 BAT My main question: When you load the game up from what directory do you run the .exe file cause mine only loads from the x86 which I access via the program files? Maybe that has something to do with my plug-in's placement -
How far away will people travel to work?
zombie615 replied to simcityerr's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
How do you know they traveled around the "U-Shaped" region? Maybe they rode on the back of a dolphin across that great sea for the greater good. Honestly though here is something I don't understand about Industry in the game or Agriculture. (Relates to Thread) How can an Industrial job or a Farm job have freight trucks coming an going with no workers to load the trucks or produce the goods lol -
I currently have Windows Vista SP2 Plus I've already wiped my entire simcity4 & an everything relating to it from my system. I'm OCD kinda.... Could you explain the "-CPUCount:1" option a bit more Note - I'm in the process of hopefully purchasing another computer, preferably a desktop with space to do major upgrades down the road.

So basically with the textures you can make any image a texture. If I wanted to snap a shot of my eye ball an slap it on the side of that unsightly building I could? When you say what size is the model an lot what measurements are you referring to? The Building is 10x10x12 grid lines Note - I went back into Gmax an centered the model on the bold black crossed lines that go through the graph you edit models on. Than exported it an it seemed to position better on the lot than previously.

The Moose Factory - Virtual Bar and Grill - Version 3

One glass of water please -
Yeah I am still having trouble. I'm not sure if something happened during my install or what. I'm about to make a tough decision an delete all my SimCity4 stuff an re-install from the very beginning. *I don't really have that many plug-ins so its not that big a deal to do so* BTW - I just now realized I put "Sims 4" in the title instead of "SimCity 4" lol

SC4 gets my vote for the better game. Generally because its cheap, easy to alter, an can run pretty decently on most late computers with no problem. Add in the fact that I just like the way SC4 is layed out compared to SC2013. I remember the first time playing SimCity 4 when it was first released. Too see it where it is today I can say money/time well spent although after its initial release I hadn't played it in years up until now.

Pertaining to Neighborhood Connection: When I place a road to the edge of the map an it shows the arrow that I have a connection the city I'm trying to connect to doesn't show any such road connecting to it once I load it up. Q: Is that suppose to be like that now?
-
How do I install the MMP's that is one step you didn't cover for beginners like myself. I downloaded some an put in "Plugins" but nothing seems to appear while in the game. Just the regular God Mode an Mayor Mode stuff.

We probably aren't even 1/10 as intelligence as our true ancestors from 1000's of years ago. If you set aside religion an focus on science, maybe we are aliens that have instead went backwards. Our intelligence drastically declined after we were dumped here on earth for being obsolete in their alien civilization. After thousands of years we are just now figuring out how to harness our hidden alien intellect. Explains UFO's watching over us from time to time checking our progress. Seeing if we are worthy of redemption lol

Alright so with your advice an with the help of many others who put effort into their lengthy yet simple tutorials this is what I've come up with. Mind you I wasn't going for an oh this looks great building. Just wanted to accomplish the basics an feel comfortable redoing it without referring to a tutorial. Now that I'm past that step.... Q: How come when I placed the building in lot editor it wouldn't center or mover anywhere I wanted. It would move way off the grid an cover the road area. Q: How come the texture looks like $%&^! in game but good in Gmax? Do I need to export it in a higher quality or something? I've been exporting in "Draft" quality Q: How do I add more textures to my selections when using the Raw-Material Editor? Cause all I have is a couple of pre-maxis textures an honestly that brick texture in the picture is bout the only building texture I see fit for anything lol

Yes, I'm not running in safe mode.

Well in just one day I feel I've learned a good amount of the basics. I now know the basic process to import my creation from Gmax into the game using the PIM & Lot Editor. Along with that I've kinda figured out the texturing process of my model. I'm reading a different tutorial now that goes a little more in-depth about the basics. Here is the first tutorial that I read that got me started https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/batlot-editor-tutorials/how-to-make-a-custom-lot-with-the-lot-editor-r209 https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/batlot-editor-tutorials/creating-a-simple-house-r65 Now I'm trying to read through this one to get a more complex simple house started. http://www.simcitycentral.net/knowledge/simcity4/bat-tutorial-part-1/

So what started out to be a small town to have just resident farmers who would work in Glasgow an Franklin ended up being this some how. Not sure where all these rich intelligent sims came from but I can't seem to get anyone else to move in because the land value an services are so good I guess. Q: I'd like to know how they have an income of 200 across the board. What they growing over there in those farms pot & cocaine lol
