  1. Crash to Desktop? Look here first.

OK..... I didn't do anything different, but now it works. For now... it kinda seems like my computer is controlled by some sort of magical sprite that lets programs work or not based on whim. I was going to take the latest suggestions, randomly decided to try SC4 and voila! it worked. Sadly now I don't have time to play.... everyone help me wish it still works tomorrow? and thanks for all the suggestions
  2. Crash to Desktop? Look here first.

Thanks... Great ideas... I tried both of them... but it didn't help. I really appreciate the advice though. I wonder, I saw this in the thread: For increased stability when running Sim City 4 on Vista or Windows 7 (often referred to as 7), keep in mind that this directory can be different from yours. C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c START "high priority sc4" /high "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -w -intro:off By doing this, you skip the intro, and increase the priority. This makes multicore computers more stable with the game. You can put this in your target box or by running it directly in Command Prompt. I didn't understand what the person who posted this meant. Which command line would be better to use? I tried first one suggested (with cmd.exe in it) and my computer told me I'm not allowed to do that. The second is similar to what I now have.
  3. Crash to Desktop? Look here first.

Thanks! I tried both those things... good ideas... didn't work though. ---edit: I didn't mean to actually post this -- I meant to post the one directly under this -- sorry for the double post! --and I'd get rid of this but I don't know how to delete -- sorry.
  4. Crash to Desktop? Look here first.

I'm having CTD issues, again... I've had problems in the past and eventually after tweaking my command line it worked most of the time... since installing the latest version of the NAM it worked great for a few weeks, I finally got a region going that I was really enjoying playing, I got a lovely city of over 100,000 Sims with a budget surplus of 3,000,000 plus (very proud of that) and some nice suburbs and was so excited about expanding the region. Today I played a little, went and did other stuff, then tried playing again and it crashed. It opens up to region view and even into a city sometimes, and then it freezes and crashes. I defragmented my disk, did disk cleanup (sometimes that helped in the past); my command line is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -eh:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -d:hardware tried changing hardware to software, no help, I ran chkdsk, still no good. Any other suggestions? I'm really not computer savvy at all, but I'm addicted to this game.... so I have to learn.... :-O I am running Windows 7 with an NVIDIA display driver ... if that offers any clues. Any advice would be appreciated... thanks
  5. OK, I've been reading up on RHW, I'm still a beginner, but s l o w l y learning how to make things work. I've got some RHW 4 going through my region, and I've learned how to make bridges over it and on/off ramp exchanges. I was trying today to get my RHW 4 to *curve*. I used the "lane shift" piece, and I also tried the "curve" piece (I tried double curve, and also doing inner/outer curve separately). All of those worked just fine but when I tried to connect more highway up to it, it reverted back to RHW 2. What am I missing?
  6. SimCity 4 Extra Cheats Plugin

It almost worked for me, but when I pressed Enter it did nothing.  ??
  7. Official Mapping Community Requests - Take Two

Could I request a map of Tacoma, WA? I used to live there and it was the best place. Would love to try making my own cities on that area.
  8. RHW problems?

Hi, I'm new to this game and new to this forum, sorry if this is already somewhere (I've been digging through everything but all the info is so overwhelming!) I downloaded the NAM in the hope of building more realistic roads. It's taking a while learning how to use all the options available (it's so much!) My problem is that the RHW roads and such don't seem to work with the game. I mean... I'll put down a road and can't connect any MAXIS roads/streets/whatever with it. Or, I'll put a road and nothing along the road believes it has a road connection. So nothing grows, or my fire station can't send any trucks out to fix the fire. I'll put a pretty street and no houses along it have a road connection even though they are pointing towards the road. What am I missing?
  9. RHW problems?

Thanks for your replies, I see I was confused about it... I'll keep reading
