Date: 9/7/2005 1:12:25 PMAuthor: rooker1 Aleking, awesome tutorial. Looks great. I was trying this last night and you are right it takes some practise but I think I have the hang of it now and it will be in my new CJ coming soon. How do you get perfectly level bridges? Is that because of the depth of the river bed? Help please. Thanks i believe that is the bridge height mod-just search the stex Alek
  6. Show us your (Classic) Tutorials

I am meaning this to be sort of an advanced tutorial in the sense that i will assume some basic SC4 knowledge First things you will need: -Jeronji's plopable water -Goldivas Tropical stuff (for rocks) -many trees (cycledogg's, pegs, ect ) -bridge height mod -any wall The idea is to do the river in the same way you would do a sunken highway (which has been well documented on the site) personally i use road tiles to level my surfaces because they offer precise control of shore and river height I would do this at-least 5 wide as i did since you are going to want to save some space for the trees and rocks. You can place any wall you want, there are so many now that there are lots of options On a seperate note one of the nice things about plopable water (imo) is that is takes up an unspecified size which can be hard to gauge at first but does give it a cooler rough look wich will look more curved despite the straight lines we are using now. at this point the river has rough ugly edges and doesn't fit in to its surroundings so placing rocks along the bank helps a little Around where i grew up rivers (Des Plaines) even when in urban area were overcome with brush and swamp like trees at their banks. so go crazy with the trees if you want bridges they should be easy just go back and fill in the water the dissappeared and refill some trees [Mod edit - To make a land bridge please see this tutorial; How to Make a Land Bridge] FINISHED AK

Hmmmm Well if you want some criticism, all I can say is that the styles of the BATs do not "mesh" in the same way that they usually do. At the same time, you were aiming for a hybrid city, and that is what you got. Maybe its a bit more repetitious in some areas as well, but again something easily worth overlooking. I don't know about you ( I am extremely critical of my work and feel the same way about certain cities), but I see nothing worth calling a failure here. I hope that helps An AK fan, -Toddquote> yeah you and godizalla both thanks, i get that feeling too, this just doesn't seem to have an identity, too much of scatter shot, thanks for the input, i'll come back strong
  8. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

that update was a bit of a failure, anyone have any constructive criticism?
  9. Rich Neighborhoods

it's called making things historic, use it.
  10. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

thanks everyone, here are 30+ new pics, this is a hybrid style city, lots of different transit, of course a limited access cbd accesible only via rail and very high density.....and yes i know that el-sub under the ground rail transition is unrealistically steep, but it works for these purposes.
  11. The Source- Custom Lotting at its Finest

very impressive, awesome base texture matching, top notch effort.
  12. TG Calgary Place 2

i should comment on more of your stuff, but you do great work, like a '08 version of the portland dude from back the day, thanks for all your hard work.
  13. Best City Skyline

HK by far, no one comes close, New York just ahead of Chicago because of much greater density, despite less interesting buildings, the third tier would have toronto and vancouver, the rest, meh. This is strictly skyscraper based.
  14. MP W2W Corner Offices

you are really hitting stride now
  15. Sights Across Canada

reminds me of a cross between mr beer and bourneid, very cool, hyper realisitc shopping/industrial park areas off of the main highway, realistic housing as well. An all around great accomplishment. i also notice that we use a lot of the same BATs.
  16. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

i swear this cj has to have the most pics per page, i wonder if people realize there is a different complete city sometimes 2 or 3 on each page, lol. anyways here's another to crowd this page up, dirty industrial port city, very NY/Chicago tileset heavy.
  17. Russia may invade Poland

lol just more war mongering, Russia will not invade Poland, nothing but military industrialists on both side stirring up some business, stupid humans and i'm surprisd how much Russian fear still exists in this country.
  18. HAMMBRUCK

most exellent update, great rail action and amazing BAT collection thanks for sharing
