Glad to see you back in the CJ section...cant wait for your next update. Sorry to hear about your last CJ. I would also like to book Jillian Island for my next corporate event (when I get a company). Looks like a great place to have a good time. -map

So far have found 3 codewords, but they're all expired. Just my luck. Congrats to all that have gotten one so far. If I don't find one that's not expired, you'll all have to let me know how the game is.

Patricius Maximus - Thanks for your input. I took your suggestion and downloaded a slope mod as well as convert the interchange into a paperclip (I started from scratch and didn't modify the original one.) This is the best paperclip I could do. I think it matches the pic diagram very well: As always, comments and suggestions are very welcome. I look forward to trying to create interchanges in the future. -map

Just fooling around today and came up with this nifty little interchange. It is designed to serve the parallel coast road at the same time as providing the overpass road (middle) with access to the highway, so I merged some lanes and came up with this: Here is a back view: I realize that there are sharp curves on the entrance/exit ramps, but it was being build against a ridge hugging the coast. This is my first post here (on this forum), so comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, -map

Hey all! I came across this book called "Zobmondo: The Outrageous Book of Bizarre Choices" by Randy Horn and thought it would be really neat to turn it into a forum game! Basically, the book gives two choices of things to do (A would you rather... thing) and you decide what you'd rather do. Rules (oh, man!): 1. You can never say "I'd do neither" or "Who cares?" It's designed to stimulate discussion, and those things just ruin it. Even if you're not in a particular situation (Say I ask a question about your pets and you don't have any), still say what you'd rather do and why. 2. No profanity, please. 3. Try and provide reasons for your choices, even if there is not really an obvious one. There are 404 different choices in the book, so I hope to keep this going for awhile. And when we run out, we can come up with others. Side Note: Some of the choices are funny and stupid, and others are more serious. I'll try and leave out the nastier ones. And NOT all the choices will come from the book. Some will be made-up Let's start the game off this week with a choice from the book: Would you rather... Chew on a wild rat's severed tail for 1/2 hour OR Thoroughly brush your teeth with a toothbrush from a prison's community toothbrush bowl? And this week's user submitted question by Vandy. (Thanks Vandy) Would you rather... Eat a head of rotten cabbage OR Drink a 16oz glass of sour milk? Enjoy the game! I'll post my choice later this week. -map

Week of 10/27/08 Announcements Poll voting is now closed. Poll votes are in! It looks like we will be updating to 2 questions per week (mine and a user-submitted one) twice a week (Monday and probably Thursday). I am looking for people who are interested in submitting the weekly "User Submitted Question." If you are interested, please drop me a PM. It can be for just one week, or for an extended period. Comments/Response I guess for my response to this week's question, I would rather have the Mafia after me, because the CIA has all those high-tech gadgets that they can use to find me. Then again, the Mafia seems to always know where you are regardless. It's really a lose-lose situation. Week 2 Results The CIA: 1 The Mafia: 2 Question of the Week Would you rather... Be married to someone who is extremely vain ORsomeone who has an extremely poor self-image? Enjoy the question! Another will be posted Thursday. -map

Blue Hope - The Interactive City Journal

Good to see that you brought the story mode back - that was one of my favorite parts about following this journal. BTW - I have no problem accessing the site - it looks great. I had no idea Newark was that big! Love the roadgeekery as always. Looking forward to more of that and the stories. -map -

Great Update 26a, DTP. I've been following this for awhile, but have declined to comment until now. My favorite was the trail system near the resorts, and I like how the asphalt streets blend in with the regular roads. I also love your use of RHW (glad those textures are back up BTW). I just have one question, and I'm not sure if you've answered this already, but where did you get the avenue/road transition? Or is it a RHW transition? (The pic of the RR overpass at Frontier Rd and 2nd pic of the update) I've been looking for a better one for awhile, and that one looks great. Looking forward to 26b! -map

I love that falls overlook picture! Probably the most picturesque scene in a CJ ever. I expected to see people kissing on it!The bridges and trees fit in real well with the surroundings too. Great work as always! I've caught some of your past CJ's as well, but have never commented until now. Looking forward to another great update (what am I saying...they're all great.) -map

I can't believe that I've missed this season so far - and we're already up to Episode 5! Where have I been?!? I love your storylines: "Vote on whether we should vote" - that's a classic. I also love the work you do with the transportation maps. Maybe we could have an overview of the monorail on a city map? (Unless you've done it before.) Looking forward to the next update...and I'll be on the lookout for some llama spit burgers again. -map -
Week of 10/20/08 Announcements I am looking for people who are interested in submitting the weekly "User Submitted Question." If you are interested, please drop me a PM. It can be for just one week, or for an extended period. Comments Thanks to all who played the game during it's first week. I loved some people's elaborate reasons. Also thanks to those who voted in the polls. I'll leave them open for another week or so so people can have a chance to vote. Week 1 Results Chew on rat's severed tail: 3Use Prison Community toothbrush: 2 Eat rotten cabbage: 4 Drink Sour milk: 0 Question of the Week Would you rather... Have the CIA after youOR Have the Mafia after you? (p. 7) Be sure to post your reasoning along with your answer.Enjoy! -map

Quick Reply: Vandy - it's fine if you post another question in addition to mine. To avoid mass confusion, though, I think I'll keep it at a 2 question limit per week for now (my question and another one - this week yours). I'm going to add a poll about this to see if people like it that way or not, too. EDIT! - I'm going to add your question to the top so nobody misses it.-END EDIT! Now to answer mine and Vandy's questions: My question: I think I'd rather chew on the rat's tail because at least it's not attached to it's body. Also, just the sound of a "community" toothbrush makes me sick. Gary (Vandy)'s question: I guess I'd rather eat the cabbage because the thought of drinking milk that's green and curdly.... Thanks for playing, all! Hope you enjoy the game. Please vote in the new polls, also. -map

Here's a subway map for a small city (Just over 100,000). The name of it is Konradshohe (the same one that comes default in the game, just enhanced). I only used paint and it still took me awhile, but it's only my 1st. Hopefully more to come! Key: The lighter outlined circles are normal stops. The darker outlined circles are transfer stops (you can switch lines there.) The filled in circles are the terminus stops (the line ends). The dotted line is a proposed extension. Hope you enjoy it! -map

Franklin County - 12th Anniversary Update, All-Nighttime Shots of New Riverside Downtown
mapmaker89 replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 City Journals
Hmm...that's weird. I don't remember asking for a house. Oh well, I'll take it anyway. It's a nice location by the water, if only those trees weren't blocking the way....(j/k, the trees look great too.) I like the way the residential turned out. The rail grade behind it looks weird though. You may want to check the repetition of buildings in the commercial district. I think that the 2nd to upper row has 3 of the same building. Great update overall...and as always, looking forward to more. -map -
Franklin County - 12th Anniversary Update, All-Nighttime Shots of New Riverside Downtown
mapmaker89 replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 City Journals
I forgot to reply on the I-30 tour, but I must say that unlike my rural highways, it actually looks rural. It's probably that tree mod that I haven't put in yet. Well done. Very...rural. As for the current development, I would say a mix of residential and commercial or if I just have to choose one, it would be residential to blend in with the residential next to it. I must say that your CJ's have got me out of the habit of lurking and to the habit of actually posting. As usual, I love the roadgeekery and the new development look great. Can't wait for more. -map -
While I must say that I've been a lurker, I think I'll finally come out and comment - I have to say the thing I love most is the complex interchanges. The tight diamond with the elevated rail is fabulous. How did you get the elevated rail to elevate more? One quick question (actually my second)- What tree mod do you use? Those trees really seem to fit in with the suburban and urban areas, and as enhancers to your intersections. I am a road geek, so this CJ has got me quite interested. I look forward to seeing more of your awesome creations. -map

The King of Beers has been checkmated by a foreign rival. The board of Anheuser-Busch (BUD: 66.87, +0.37, +0.55%) on Sunday agreed to sell itself to Belgian-beer giant InBev NV for $70 a share, for a total value of $49.91 billion. The combined company will be named Anheuser-Busch InBev and Anheuser will get two seats on the board. It marks a dramatic shift for the Bud board and its managing Busch family, which, despite some support for the bid from some members, initially fought the idea of a takeover by InBev, which makes Stella Artois, among other popular brands. But, despite spending weeks fighting the offer - and even initiating legal action to thwart a hostile bid - the Anheuser-Busch board ultimately headed to the bargaining table last week once InBev agreed to raise the price to $70 from $65. The combined companies are now the world’s largest brewer with more than $35 billion in sales across 300 brands worldwide. SABMiller is currently the largest beer maker in the world. The deal now is likely to face some political backlash. Local officials in Anheuser-Busch’s home city of St. Louis, Mo., have been fearful that InBev’s deal will cut jobs, and members of Congress have also expressed concern about such a large foreign company owning such a well-known American brand. But Anheuser-Busch shareholders aren’t expected to have such qualms. Some publicly raised questions about why the company was so against a deal and balked when Anheuser-Busch’s board floated the idea of a takeover of its 50% stake in Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo as a way to fend off the Belgian suitor.quote> Budweiser's going to the Europeans! AAhhhhh! What do you guys think about this? Will it cut more jobs in the struggling American economy? I don't think so, because Bud is such an American company...it will stay open in the US. Also including two polls...so be sure to vote. Have fun with this one! -map if(placement=="bottom") show_baynote_guide("ArticleGuide");

El Burro - I know what your saying. My dad gave me a taste of Bud when I was like five and I swore from that moment on that I'd never drink it again. Granted, I have had OTHER things to drink, but I won't ever drink Bud. I still respect the company, though - what do you think was the reason for their buyout? They seemed to be doing fine. -map

So Favre wants to come back, and now he's whining because the Packers won't let him go. Honestly, though, with that much experience, do you really want to come back as a backup? I think the Packers should trade Favre if he's not happy. As for the whole Redskins name thing, that's just a stupid waste of time...after all, the name isn't there to be offensive. Besides, the Redskins have been around for more than 70 years - shouldn't they have noticed it a little sooner? Weird. -map

GMT - I hope you know that I am talking about the American version of Budweiser, although I didn't know that it was originally European... hym - InDev becoming American? That would be a turn of events. I wonder if that would mean that the beer they produce currently would become "American?" The only thing I really heard was that they were supposedly keeping all 12 breweries in the United States open, for now. For those who want a link to the Budweiser 9/11 commercial, it can be found -map

Yay! More road signs! I can't wait. And the new drive that you're talking about sounds fun, too. Are there still towns that we haven't seen yet? I also love the new look of The Area Formerly Known As Winchester Mall. I hope those new buildings will survive longer than the mall did. As always, looking forward to the next update. -map

Look! In the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...mapmaker89! And he brought a score update with him. How nice of him. Sorry it's taken so long guys, but yes, I'm still keeping up with everybody's posts and points. To make it a little easier from here on out, though, people will NOT be earning points for posting, just for their developments and jobs (if they have them).
