  1. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

    Hmmm, I can't seem to do that. What I am doing is useing the material editor, useing diffuse under the map section, selecting a texture, then going back to the main editor page, and lowering opacity. What I am seeing even after I click that little box that allows me to see what the object will look in game is a black, transparent version of my object without textures. It's like that even under preview.

    Ack, the lighting has really confuses me. Lets say I want a garden light that actually illuminates the area around it (not just itself like a window and not just in one direction). Which spot light would be the best option? Also, if I have a transparent object like glass, can I shine a light through it?

    I think it was a one time thing, probably something whent wrong when I was saveing. I've tried everything, in every possible way, to open it without luck. It wasn't really good anyways, I was makeing a larger verson of maxis aviary (in the zoo) prop as a practice for a skyscraper based on the struts. Thanks anyways .

  6. Okay, I just created a hollow cylinder shape bulding that is transparent (for testing, its just a cylinder thats transparent for now). I want to put props inside this cylinder, but I heard that props cannot be placed inside the LODS (I'm assuming from other posts I read that it is the box that goes around my building when I render it). Is there a around this? I heard of custom LODS but I have no idea what it is. Can it be used to create a hollow cylinder shaped LOD around my cylinder building so the the center is hollow? The last option is to divide the cylinder into separate walls as props with smaller LODS, leaveing the center hollow for props and such, but its a lot of work.

    Thanks, I feel like such an idiot , lol. Now I have another problem. I tried to open it with gmax and with BAT now, but it keeps saying File Failed to Open with the location of the file after that. Whats wrong? Edit: Its File Open Failed
  9. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

    If I make a mesh transparent useing material editor (opacity at 40, spec at 60, and gloss at 45) can I add textures to the transparent object? It seems that if I use navigator to attach a texture to a window, then use editor to make it transparent, the texture dissappears and its just a dark see through thing. The opposite happens when I use editor first. Can't I have both?

    Here's a question, where is the prieview button?! I remember I saw it when I first installed gmax a long time ago, but I can't find it now. I know its under the hammer in utilities, where there should be a button called BAT (at least I think), but its no where in site. All I see is Asset Browser, gmax file finder, resource collector, and other related buttons.

    Hello, first time showing my face here. I have been amazed by all the pics posted in this topic. My roads are all grid like, and I only have one or two good ones. Heres something interesting. How many of you have seen a roundabout that is actually round in SC4? . P.S. I'm refering to the donut surrounding the mayor statue (i placed a female one by accedent. im actually a male...... i think).
