Gamespot Sits Down With Jason Haber From EA To Discuss Cities of Tomorrow
nataniels3 commented on CapTon's article in News
"As an OmegaCo city, I can actually send Omega over to neighboring cities. Say this is a city that my friend's playing that doesn't have the expansion pack...I can actually send them Omega trucks; sending Omega over there it will actually start converting their buildings into OmegaCo franchises" This is a brilliant way to make people buy the expansion pack. If you don't and are playing with someone who did, they'll turn your city into a polluted wasteland that gives them profits. No one wants that, thus purchase the expansion pack. While their game creation skills have been repeatedly questioned, I don't think anyone can deny that they are shrewd businesspeople. -
"Only an expert mayor should take on the challenge at the bottom of the crater in the Fallout Epicenter city site." Why would you build a city in a nuclear blast crater, especially given the longevity of radiation in this game? Even by SimCity logic this is illogical. "Tutorial: Mini-tutorial about radiation added to help players in the new city; Fallout Epicenter in the new region; Desolation" The city is already radioactive prior to being built in. Wow.

SimCity Cities of Tomorrow Developer Gameplay Walkthrough Video

The ground scrubber should also clean up radiation. That way all the Chernobyls could be restored. -
Granted, you go to prison I wish Mr Saturn64 didn't go to prison.

Nuclear Radiation doesn't make sense and is a joke

Use the build outside city box mod. While I have yet to see a meltdown, it would happen outside of the city. -
Does Anyone Ever Use Nuke Power?
nataniels3 replied to Zpike's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I (in sandbox) have a city with 3 nuclear power plants generating 4,000 megawatts for the entire region. So far no problems. I think all you have to do to prevent a meltdown is figure out where the most educated parts of the city are and plop it closer to them. Due to the way the agent system works, educated workers should arrive there before uneducated ones. It also isn't correct to call it foolish. It has a higher energy density (power generated per tile of space used) than anything else. It does not rely on external fuel sources and it provides a consistent level of power as opposed to say wind, which can fluctuate depending on wind speed and is basically unfeasible for filled out cities with high demand due to how much space it would take up. In an experiment I performed, I plopped a nuclear power plant and upgraded it to providing 2000 megawatts of power. I plopped a wind farm and despite it taking up the same amount of space, it only provided 90 megawatts of power (at peak hours!). My city only had a demand for 200 mw so going solely off that wind farm (taking up the same amount of space space than a nuclear power plant with 3 gen. 3 reactors) wouldn't have satisfied demand, while the nuclear power plant would have enabled my city to be a major electricity exporter. -
Discussion about City Tile Size
nataniels3 replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
With the size of the cities, elevated rail and agriculture don't make much sense. Even if they don't fix the city sizes terraforming is still a needed feature. The cities are 2km*2km, land features decrease that significantly. I sympathize with your path finding problems though. I think everyone who's played SimCity has stories to tell about it. Have you tried the Plop Outside City Box mod? While RCI can't be plopped outside, ploppables can. That gives me hope though; while using it, I noticed the road guides would pop up outside the city, suggesting that the "simulation" could work outside of the city area. That also gave me a realization into why it is called Glass box: the cities (without the mod) are trapped in an invisible box that doesn't need to be there. I think they set it up so they could expand city sizes at some future date while having the ground work laid out already.- 1,284 Replies

Funny Mistakes while building
nataniels3 replied to killer_bake!'s topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Once, while placing a road, it dipped below the water table, so there was a small lake in my city. The road went on the bottom and I zoned some businesses. The messed up thing is that the building caught fire, while being underwater.https://imgur.com/eUNTeC0 -
Community call of action.. I think as a community we need to take a stand
nataniels3 replied to xoxide's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Ask Valve. They added DLC to Portal 2 including the Perpetual Testing Initiative (a map creator) for no cost and reduced the price of the game when new features were developed for it (co-op Perpetual Testing Initiative). That is how a video game company should be. Creating a quality game and adding new features that genuinely expand the game, instead of blatant advertisements (Nissan Leaf charging station) and corporate partnerships (crest attractions). With regards to SimCity, I think they should put people's suggestions into a poll on their website and have people vote for the new features that they want, with the most popular features getting added into the game in a patch. That way, they could say that they are listening to the community and incorporating their feedback. Perhaps someone should set that up, so we can deliver a petition to Maxis saying x number of people think this should be added to SimCity, so could you get on it please. As Katherine Baird says in her book Trapped in Mediocrity (some would say this title could describe SimCity): " One person complaining is a crank, several become an inconvenience, but a crowd...can become a problem that needs addressing". -
Granted, you reach the soft times (which are just as bad). I wish they would invent a good quantum computer that didn't quantumlly decohere easily.

Granted, they are so selfless that they take your internal organs and give them to people who need them. I wish someone would plus 1 skyscraper tower building's post.

Banned for having derp and SimCity 4 in the same picture box.
-
Granted, they broadcast internet over the air but in one 7 billionth of the human race (read: you) it causes spontaneous human explosion, followed by spontaneous human implosion, followed by spontaneous human combustion. I wish we could rob uninhabited parallel universes blind.
-
Granted, they make a 1 minute movie showing drawings of a planet by a five year old named Wayne called Awesome Wayne's World: An Awesome One. I wish Tesla had fought Edison in a steel cage death match.

Banned for using ... as a sentence finisher...

Banned for capitalizing like a boss.

Granted, but since good nights don't exist, neither does your sleep. I wish good nights did exist.

You play Defcon, as in the nuclear war game? (Judging by the fact that your user name is Nuclear-ID I believe so) So do I (only the deterrence mod though).
-
Are you unconsciously putting them there so they are close to the victims of air pollution? They clear pollution but it seems like that is another reason for them there. I put most of mine in my crime filled inner city.
-
Yes, there is a thing called city journals where you post pictures and talk about your city. There are also show us your...(power plants for example) where you post pictures of that object.

These are all based off one specific incident with my police force. The guy (at 9:56 pm) told me night was approaching.

Granted, but it turns out to be fake. I wish I could meet a star, up close and personal.

Banned for banning someone else because their avatar is cut off when the whiskers on your unidentified life form are also cut off.

Granted, anyone speaking anything other than Palauan mysteriously disappears. I wish Obama had a predator drone controller on his desk.
