Single Player And Multiplayer Begin To Merge
Xenocity replied to MarutiaOrtia's topic in Gaming Talk
I beg to differ. Destiny is built around the MMO concept, with an option to play by yourself. Watchdogs is single player game at heart with hit and miss multiplayer online mode, though the game lacks polish. The Division is still up in the air. Don't take E3 too seriously, since it really has turned into an EA, Activision (Call of Duty announcement), Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo conference now. The rest of the companies have been skipping E3 due to the costs of keeping up with everyone else (yes E3 conferences costs upwards of $30 million now) This cost is the reason why Nintendo did a different format and why Activision only shows reels of Call of Duty trailers at their booth. Gamescon (EU) and TGS now match E3 in attendance and announcements. The point being E3 is shrinking in size every year. With that said there were quite a few single player games and multiplayer games specific games as well. The single player games I'm looking fowarded to by year's end are: Captain Toad's game Hyrulian Warriors Bayonetta 2 (comes with Bayonetta 1 for free) Pokemon Omega Ruby Art Academy (full version) Pier Solar (if it finally comes out. RPG) Kirby Triple deluxe (3DS) [insert unannounced games] Multi: Both Smash Bros (no they aren't the same game) Next Year: Yoshi's Wolly World (single) Mario Maker (single) Xenobalde Chronicles X (single) Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (Single) Devil's third (single/multi) Zelda U (unless it gets delayed) Splatoon (multi) [insert unannounced games] Yeah my Wii U and 3DS are going to kill my wallet through the next year Strangely there is nothing that appeals to me at the current moment on the other systems (I can get the games I want on Steam). -
Maxis/E.A. has been too quiet

Well to their defense, investors are now in charge and shutdown anything that isn't highly profitable. You all thought normal EA was evil.... I just want an update that fixes education on every level and the regional traveling/economy! -
Club Nintendo: year end rewards announced - massive meltdown ensues
Xenocity replied to Xenocity's topic in Gaming Talk
Yes it launched on the Wii U VC last July! True but we are up in arms over here regarding the prizes threating a possibly Nintendo boycott. I'm not bothered by the prizes unlike my fellow American gamers. I downloaded Game & Wario (which will also net me a $5 eShop card through the DPP). -

French/German/British DLC question
Xenocity replied to yureeka's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You can have all three in your city and you can get all three building types in the city. Though you can buy this for $10 as the digital deluxe upgrade. It is regularly on sake for $5 on origin. The best buildings: German high speed train station has the trains come faster than a regular station British double decker bus terminal lets you have 8 double decker buses which hold 120 sims per bus (regular holds 80) French police station looks like a tall house and is smaller than the American one, though it has less add ons, the police cars go out every 15mins ( or is it 30?) So it isn't all about looks... -
It's in documents for the Steam version. Documents>Simcity4>Plugins

I can vouch for this.

Concessions the game could make in place of larger map size.
Xenocity replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Reduce: Total number of agents Graphics and frame rate reduce the number of cars and sims that appear on screen at once The better but rarely used idea: Require higher specs for larger maps and make them offline only... The downside is the backlash from consumers and the media for fragmenting the userbase. -
FYI for those of you who already own the Windows version in Steam, you can download Mac version for free (I'm doing it now). It will appear in your Steam library under Mac Games with an Install button.

$39.99 for both Simcity & COT?
Xenocity replied to Fero85's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Welcome to the gaming industry where prices typically drop after the first month. Would you rather EA be greedy and keep the full price after a year like Atlus and Nintendo? -
And Amiibo just looks like Skylanders only for Nintendo. Whatever.... Actually that's not true. Amiibo is currently compatible with Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros (both versions), Mario Party 10 and a few other games for this year. In the case for Smash Bros, it lets you store your customized character on it much like a memory card. It also gives you a special CPU to fight as well in Smash. They are all supposed to be cross compatible with supporting games. They are supposed to cost between $10-$15 and are made of high quality. Essentially Amiibo is PLC (Physically Load Content) instead of DLC. This is better than all those special edition memory cards the companies used to release that came loaded with special content. Though we all should be excited that Nintendo had Platinum port Bayonetta 1 to Wii U which is given away for free with each purchase of Bayonetta 2 (exclusive to Wii U) this Fall. Bayonetta 1 has updated graphics and exclusive content. Now let's talk about how Captain Toad finally got his own damn game!

Maxis/E.A. has been too quiet
Xenocity replied to Snorp09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I hate to inform you but market research says high end graphics are more important than gameplay in the West. Sadly, I'm well aware of that. Yeah.... Is it worse that gamers today are whining about games being too long? -

I hate to inform you but market research says high end graphics are more important than gameplay in the West. If your game has decent or average graphics, consumers will ignore it because it looks bad. Today Shiny graphics = Good game in the eyes of today's consumers. -

Many of the mods have taken care of most of my issues. I'd just be happy with an update that fixes education, especially university, so I can max out my university. -
Just buy Simcity Plus (it contains the game and the expansion pack) when it goes on sale. It's on sale like every other week for $20 or less. We also have numerous mods available now on here including one that allows you to build 100 mega towers and another one that gives you more road options including one-way. There are other mods as well which greatly enhance the game.

Sim City 2013 on CRY Engine?
Xenocity replied to Marcuria's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Not to nitpick but... Star Citizen is classified by the developers as a first person space combat/first person shooter! This why they are using this engine. You could use Crytek's engine to build a simulator, though you'd have to heavily modify the engine. Though getting approval from Crytek is highly unlikely. This is why developers build their own engines. Anyways Star Citizen's release date is TBD 2015 as it has been delayed yet again. Right now they are trying to hit the $45M mark. Though if what they say is true, then them needing $100M+ to complete the game isn't out of the question. I personally see Star Citizen being delayed until 2017 if not canned all together. I honeslty will be surprised if the game -
Sim City 2013 on CRY Engine?
Xenocity replied to Marcuria's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You can easily play Simcity 2013 and Simcity 4. You cannot easily understand the data the game use. Simcity 4 also fails to render data properly causing many issues regarding the development of zones, traffic (even with NAM), health and education (even with all the mods installed). Even Simcity 2000 had issues with computations and data rendering, making it hard to properly manage a city. With this all said only Simcity 3000 Unlimited actually functioned right allowing players to actually build cities with no major issues. It is really hard to build simulation software and simulation games due to all the variables at be. Arena Simulation software still has severe issues which cause it not to work right and regularly crash. This software is used by major corporation to build their simulators. I really can't think of any simulation software or game released since 2001 that actually stable and functions properly. The point is simulation software and games do not perform as expected in real world usage due to many variables. -
You can only extract files that end in .ZIP and .RAR. You cannot open .package. You drop the .package files in the SimCityData folder.

Hmmm... Did you make sure to check the boxes for the necessary file extensions in The Unarchiver menu? If not that might be your issue (yes I use the same program).

Will EA release another iterate of SC13 anytime soon?
Xenocity replied to Shazlow's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
(from the SC website) Also, SimCity 2013 is about a decade behind SimCity 4 in terms of mods, but isn't there less to work with SC13 to begin with? You do realize it takes teams to make a patch for all software not just games. It's not not unusual for a game or other software to stop receiving patches after the first year. There are plenty of games from the past decade across the board, where developers quit patching around the first year mark. With that said, it has only been two months and 11 days since the last update came out. We did get a minor patch this month. They probably have another update in the works, but it will take time to test it to ensure it doesn't break anything else. I mean Maxis gave up on Simcity 4 after the first year and let modders fix the game (which is still being done). Simcity 2013 is easier to mod, though it still takes people with programming knowledge to create the mods. Modders don't sit around all day creating mods for games, they actually have lives to live. Will Simcity 2013 have as many mods as Simcity 4 did at it's 10th anniversary? We will find out in then. As for the lead game designer mods, he probably couldn't get approval to have his mods included in an official update. So he released them as unofficial mods. -

They already have announced modding. They have even posted articles about Simtropolis mods to the game on their main site. You've been able to download mods for a few months know -

It's not just American developers. Canadian, UK, Australian Irish, French (Ubisoft is the second biggest 3rd party developer) and German developers all follow the same model because Western tastes are pretty much homogonized. Though shooters are only popular in these 6 countries (Which Xbox tends to be popular in): U.S. Canada UK Ireland Austraila New Zealand
