  1. Sim City 4 Windows 8

Hey guys, has anyone successfully played SC 4 on Windows 8? I know it was made for XP, so I'll most likely have to find a work around for a little bit, and if that's the case than no worries. I installed it on a whim but it looks like the base textures are missing (I don't know how to describe it). For example, the grass is missing around both maxis lots and the ones I downloaded from here, and I am unable to drag items through lots (so I cant drag train tracks through train stations, for example).

    Sim stem cell research
  3. Is my city just broken?

Residual ground pollution from your mining town maybe?

How come there are usually no busses/ cars/ anything on the streets in the screenshots you guys took?
  6. SimCity 5 (2013) Offline Crack

Probably not, but still. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
  7. But you know what? online only DRM is working! no one wants to pirate the game!... of course it could be that no one wants to pirate it because its so freaking riddled with holes and unstable
  8. The impression I get from Ms. Bradshaw, as well as many other players, is that once the server issues get fixed, the game will be awesome and sales will increase. However, I think she's glossing over a ton of issues. Yes the servers are a big issue of course, but behind that there are a myriad of bugs and graphical issues and glitches that needs to be sorted out. Granted, I don't have the game, I watch Haljackey's streams as much as I can. That said, I'm sure the game sales will increase as the server situation gets under control, but I think that will just refocus the lens of criticism on the bugs and glitches and lack of features
  9. I feel bad for Ocean Quigley.

Yes the DRM is incredibly stupid, but the game has flaws beyond that you know Left turning! AH i hate the left turning cars in this game! The traffic simulator is so bad. It has the potential to be really good, but they just need to tone down the number of cars and rethink how roads are used (aka go out to their local streetcorner and see how cars actually behave). Among other things, of course

  11. That's the smart thing to do no doubt, but a site gets more publicity if its one of the first sites to review it
  12. Maxis Responds to Server Issues

Can somebody copy that and post it here, please? even as a teacher I cant get to reddit at school
  13. ...That's incredibly stupid, especially considering there's no other real option to deal with garbage other than A) Pile it up, or B) Export it. If there was an environmentally friendly way to deal with garbage in the game. It'd be wholly more reasonable if the lizard monster came if you relied so much on the sewage outlet pipes for disposing of sewage. I Just don't understand. Incineration is a way that people get rid of trash in the real world. I think your penalty for doing that should be air pollution, like in the real world. Makes sense, right? it should be like omgggggggggggggggggg monster youre too efficient at burning trash oh no!!!
  14. I'm sorry but that's really, really dumb
  15. Off topic, but I bought MLB the show 13 after work over buying SC, and its amazing.
  16. Hey, it says right at the bottom, "images not representative of actual gameplay" so very little of that is probably in the game. Your first clue is they built a power plant on an island not connected by road and it powered things, which cant happen in the new sim city which is stupid
  17. The SimCity player

No, I don't think he (or she) is saying anything about fad gamers. The point is about strategy gamers. I think the OP is right though, and it has to do with delayed gratification. I'm 22, and I have 4 younger brothers is the need for now, now, now, now. There are many other aspects, but in video games specifically, if the game isn't holding their attention with explosions, awards, achievements, yelling, etc. they're moving on Meanwhile, I and many like me (probably) are willing to think, plan, and strategize for a couple hours before playing a game even if it means shutting off the game. And (speaking for myself here) the reward is a well planned out city that I would like to live in. I think we're seeing that even some with this incarnation of sim city with the move away from almost pure creativity on a pretty grand scale to gimmicky (for lack of a better word) things like challenges, rewards, and (to an extent) specialization to keep players interests
  18. sending money broken?

A money transporter? Like a stagecoach? doesn't SimCity know that most monetary transfers, especially large ones are done electronically Yes, like a stagecoach. Here: "During my playthrough, one of the Devs mentioned how an armored truck is dispatched when you transfer money to another city. This truck travels to the City Hall in the recipient’s city. If you’re strapped for cash, imagine how long it takes if the armored truck gets stuck in traffic." Source That's interesting. Seems pretty archaic to me, but whatever. That's one thing in all EA titles I've noticed-- once they come up with something new they tend to over emphasize it and showboat it a lot. Here its the traffic simulator. It sounds pretty sweet don't get me wrong but yikes there's a lot of cars on the roads all the time

Yeah Adam DeVine from Workaholics. Those are really funny, especially the second one Here's the commercials
  22. All future EA games to feature microtransactions

"Consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of the business" I certainly enjoy the idea of buying an unfinished game and then having to pay money for different pieces after release in order to make it a quality game. For the record that was sarcasm. I hope they enjoy not getting this consumer's money. I'm not saying that's a bad business strategy, but for me, thanks but no thanks
  23. New Closed Beta on Wed Feb 28

Why? Sounds like excellent preparation and planning ... To ensure launch day is as smooth as can be! Ehh I don't know. If its a stress test for the servers again than fair enough since I heard they crapped out a few times last beta (although I don't know for sure), however I'm getting the idea that its just the devs offering up features like "how do you like zoning, users?" then getting a response, going back to the drawing board and holding a second beta. I guess that's what betas are for, but having so many tells me at least that they don't have a very good handle on the features their user base want included in the game

This is turning into a bad joke
