  1. How to: Make your own Mods

Say... I'm getting the hang of this now... Here's an idea: How 'bout modifying a building (i.e. - a power plant) so that it MAKES money instead of SPENDING money? This would be particularly fun to use an industry-only city with no residents to generate income by enacting an ordinance. I tried it with the oil power plant by reversing the 600 simoleon cost to a negative value (so it generates 600/month simoleons in income instead of costing 600/month). The hex value I used was 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFDA8. It made money, but it generated a whopping 4 BILLION simoleons/month instead of the more reasonable 600 I was shooting for. Anyone care to play with that one and offer suggestions?
  2. How to: Make your own Mods

Funforfree99 - thanks for the reply. I was following the tutorials to the letter, but I noticed one odd thing that happened whenever I tried to modify a value. When I typed in the new value, the data type that was in the "Data Type" field would disappear. I would have to manually force the data type back into the field. I thought that was kind of odd, especially since you never made a reference to that field in any of the tutorials and after I read your post. So this afternoon, I reinstalled the reader and tried the first two lessons again. It worked this time. The problem appeared to be with the reader, not anything I was doing. What a relief! Again - thanks for the tutorials and giving my problem a stab!
  3. How to: Make your own Mods

Well, I haven't been able to sign on for a few days, but I noticed that no one answered my question from June 9. I've tried several of the mods, but none of them work... and I downloaded the latest version of the ModReader. Help!
  4. How to: Make your own Mods

Hmm... I'm having trouble just with lesson #1! Maybe I'm a little slow here, but I followed the lesson exactly and when I clicked on the smoke detector ordinance, it didn't bring in 5000 per resident, but it increased the cost of my budget instead. Has anyone else encountered that problem and if so, how was it fixed? Thanks funforfree99! I'm sure this will be a great way of enhancing the game experience once I get the hang of it.
