  1. I agree with the former. You might have some traffic problems in the inner parts of the city with that design. I'd suggesting completing those highways that taper off into loops. You could probably get some avenues going that would solve the problem, though. Ultimately it looks like good terraforming and a solid design!
  2. Help City is Stagnant

Could we see a picture? Your description is a little confusing. and you don't make it clear if you have any demand for industrial or commercial development, but I'll give you a couple of easy fixes. Do you have water flowing to all of your buildings (without this, they won't grow beyond single-family houses)? Have you zoned medium or high density residential? Do you have enough jobs? Considering that you have such a small city, the problem could also be that you've packed dirty industry and utilities (like a coal plant) too close to where your people live, causing low property values.
  3. BAT Request Thread

Hey, I don't know how often people actually look at this thread. However, I think there is a glaring need for a Synagogue right now, something that functions as a House of Worship. Right now, we only have a couple of old, apparently dysfunctional lots on the STEX and The Little Synagogue (which is great, by the way, but a single tile building doesn't quite feel like a temple worthy of a big city). I think there is a lot of flexibility in making one of these and you could have a lot of fun with it. I'll just put down a couple of big, nice-looking ones and see if anything comes of it. Thanks so much! Central Synagogue in New York The Temple in Atlanta Georgia (Historic, Southern) Jubilee Synagogue in Prague (very old, European) Jewish Reconstructionist Synagogue in Evanston, Illinois (modern)
  4. Can i see someone cheated?

And can I just add that you sound like a pretty awesome teacher?
  5. How to keep a slum?

Another great way to make a slum is to mix in dirty and manufacturing industry with residential zoning. The air pollution will keep the rich out while abundant jobs will (generally) keep lower-income residents in. The only problem is that the buildings rarely grow beyond stage one or two with this setup.
  6. I notice that the land values are only a little low in most of that area. The places where it is worst is in the water (which doesn't matter, you aren't building anything there) and by your stadium and your airport, which are noisy and thus lower land values in their immediate vicinity. The shape of that area is very interesting, though. Pollution tends to disperse in a more irregular shape. That looks like a really nice circle, which suggests to me radiation from an old exploded nuclear plant, or a very large negative building effect. Good luck!
  7. Continuing Crashes

So I deleted my newest plugins and am getting more errors. Now I get distortion on the sides of my cities and the edges are blue... I think it's because I downloaded this plugin ( ) on a whim just to see how it looked very recently. And I just put it in my plugin folder, apparently I didn't install it quite correctly. The readme says that there should be .png files in my plugins folder for the Sim City tile backgrounds. I don't think I ever had those? I am just very confused! I know I did something to screw my game up, I'm just not really sure what it was or how to fix it now...
  8. How do you "end" a highway?

You can do what the poster said above. Sometimes that looks awkward though, so I will often end it at an interchange with another highway, loop it around if possible, or just continue it all of the way out of the region.
  9. Continuing Crashes

Ah, so if I've installed a bunch of buildings and NAM, that could be contributing to the instability? Chimeran, your first quote is what I have now. I'll try out the second one's advice too.
  10. Hey everyone, first of all I think this is a great forum and I'd really appreciate a little advice. I have had Sim City for many years and put it on my new Windows 7 computer some time ago. When I first installed it, I experienced the well-documented frequent crashes on my machine. I have been using the fix for at least six months now (changing the target to this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -w -CustomResolution:enabled -r1600x900x32 -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -EH:off -CPUPriority:high). I was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. I have quite an expansive city going, with at least 10 city tiles and a regional population of ~2 million (just starting work on the suburbs). It started being unable to hold up for more than an hour or so, and now it will barely even let me begin to fill in a new tile. I hate to abandon the city I have been working for months on as a result of technical issues. Any tips?
