!!!!! Geez, Jeroni! I thought I had seen the best of your creations, but I was wrong! That waterfront park is SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! I want to be there! I think I'll leave my suite and just sit in that park on a nice sunny late afternoon, and let all my cares drift away! I don't know how you do it, Jeroni, but your pictures continue to be a source of inspiration, and also, are just plain good to look at. I don't know what it is about that waterfront park. I think it reminds me of a dream I once had about a theme park. Whatever it is, I can't stop looking at it. And, one question.... How did you get the seawalls to go under the bridge? If I try to put something under or over a bridge, it never works. Ahhhh!!! I'm going to be looking at this picture for the rest of my life! I can't take my eyes off of it..... Please, keep it up, Jeroni.

ITS IN YOUR HANDS! The real interactive CJ
MallowTheCloud replied to x2230062's topic in SC4 City Journals
Just wanted to point out to a couple posters... the region has already been chosen. We are now choosing the place for the CBD. I like number 3 most. -
Beautiful as always. What I especially like is the truck. It looks so real!!! I don't know why, just something about a semi truck in a grey concrete parking lot. It just looks....... ...... ....... like a real picture. And of course, all of this is because you spend the time and effort to make your cities so beuatiful. You spoil us all, jeroni.

Geez! I leave for a couple days and everyone takes the best suites! I guess 6 is still pretty nice. And, first, about the rail, I think the elevated rail bridge doesn't look bad if it's for light rail. If it's for freight traffic, it's not very realistic but still looks good . Secondly, about the walls. It seems I'm the only one who thinks wall number three looks the best... but, that's just my opinion. Now, time to move in to my suite. I'll be picking up my keys soon, for a nice, long vacation. Oh, and thanks a lot Jeroni! I wouldn't have found the best place to vacation except that you made the Columbia River!

Ooh, ooh! I get a free month holiday in Coll de Soller!? I can't wait! I'll start packing now.... I know it's still months away, but I have to keep busy so time can pass quicker. I've never been on a real yacht before, nor have I been on a virtual one. This will be an experience to remember. Oh, and once again your update is awesome. As I always say, keep up the great work!

Idleyld Park, Oregon

8/10 It's kinda cute-ish.

Hi everybody. Once again, I love what you have done, Jeroni. Also, I want to let everybody know about the real Columbia River Gorge. I live in Portland, Oregon, which is at the western mouth of the gorge. The Dalles, Oregon is at the eastern end. There are a few cities in the gorge, but none over 10,000 people (I would guess). The Sim City version of the gorge does not have the cliffs, so it looks more like a valley. This is what the real gorge looks like... In my opinion, the real gorge is better than Jeroni's.... because the real gorge is one of my favorite places to visit. But, Jeroni, fear not. I don't think anybody could make anything close to the beauty of the gorge on SimCity 4. It is just not powerful enough. And, even more, I think your Columbia River is so beautiful that, in a different way, it comes quite close to being as great as the real gorge. No other CJ on Simtropolis can say that (that I have seen). So, keep up the great work, Jeroni. I, and everyone else reading this CJ, love every update, and love how much time and effort you spend every day to show us the beauty that is your CJ.

Masterful, as always. I love the harbor area there and how the marina boats have to go under the bridge to get out to the river. If I had a boat, I would keep it in a marina just like that . Nice work, and keep it up.

Date: 1/30/2005 5:25:00 PM Author: jeronij Honestly, I think that only the Residential Stone Walls fit really good here, because though the road imitates Coll de Soller, this is a urban area and not a rural one. quote> I agree. I like the Residential Stone Walls there also.
-
OMG!!! That looks SOOOOOOOOOOO good! I have done something like that before, but without those retaining walls. That makes all the difference in the world! Woooooooow! That is the best I have seen yet. So.... one little minor thing though. At the very top of that image, there is a little stub of road there... I think I just answered my own question... I see the statue there now, I didn't notice that before. Great touch. And great update as always.

Thanks for your comments! Unfortunately, I seem to have a major issue with my SimCity game. Whenever I load a city, it looks like this... I have tried updating my Video Card Drivers again... but nothing seems to help. Like I mentioned before, this happens whenever I load a city... any city. When new buildings grow in the place of these colorful ones, it fixes those. But, the presents and almost all props and most other civic buildings and such all seem to have the same issue, so I would have to replace those as well... And, more importantly, all my streets and avenues have disappeared!!! They still function, but they don't show up. So... it looks like I'm out of business for at least a while. If I've dissapointed anybody, I'm sorry, but I know my CJs aren't the best... so thanks for the positive comments that everyone has left for me. EDIT: I uninstalled and reinstalled SC4, and it seems to have solved the bug. I have no idea what caused it, but as long as it's working again I'm happy.

Great update. I like the region view, I like the informational zoning view, but I especially like that street which descends to the beach. I don't know why, it just looks so.... I can't describe it.... Great job... keep it up. EDIT: Oh, and what is that trail around the private school? Or a better question is, where would I go to download it?

First off, I agree with tomtheus4. Abandoned buildings aren't so much a bad thing, if they are sparse and spread out. I see no problem with that abandoned building there, as it will probably regrow anew soon. To answer your question, jeroni, I just took a snapshot of one of the Ferrys in my region, and edited a couple things in MS Paint (Paint isn't such a bad program if you have others to work with it... I use IrfanView and iDraw Character Maker as supplements). And I look forward to seeing a few new jtportland and/or sparkythepenguin BATs in the Columbia River region... after all, it fits. Portland buildings on a river which borders Portland. Keep up the great work, Jeroni!

There is a Seaport in Seaside, but it is just a normal, SimCity original Seaport. I'm thinking about upgrading it... and in fact I might just look into that about now.
-
Cool! I'm glad somebody is interested. Thanks for the response.

First of all, beautiful update as usual. The attention to detail continues to amaze me. Date: 1/26/2005 7:02:18 PM Author: jeronij I think I understand what you mean. I thought that onlu normal roads could be connected to the Ferry stations.quote> Like I said... it's kind of hard to explain. Yes, you are right, only roads can connect to the ferry stations. What I mean is.... Geez, I'll just give you a picture I just like the way that looks. But, like I said, if you like it the way you have it more, keep it that way.
-
Hey Jeroni. As always, great CJ! I do have a little suggestion, though... it is regarding this picture. See how your avenue enters the ferry station? Well.... this is going to be hard to explain.... but if you end your avenue with one tile in between the ferry station and avenue, then continue your avenue with one way roads, it won't dwindle down to a single road like that. If you undertand what I mean. But, if you like it the way it is, by all means keep it that way. Like I said before, great CJ!!!

So. Another update? Sure. As you saw in the last update, Seaside went through some major changes. Well, in response, it's population grew greater than that of Tiki. This made the mayor of Tiki furious (after all, Tiki is the capital of Duthford). So, he slated a plan for his own renovations. As you shall see, the renovations do indeed exceed those of Seaside. First, however, I'll give a little refresher. Here's old downtown Tiki. Now, Tiki's mayor did kind of steal an idea from the mayor of Seaside. This was to do a two phase project. First, renovate downtown. Then, the second phase was to create a new section for downtown residential high rises. This is where the mayor of Tiki really excelled. He hired only two architects, and the buildings are therefore a bit redundant, but the mayor's plans succeeded and the population of Tiki is now greater than any city in Duthford. The new growth did, however, involve lots of bulldozing, and you can see the results below. So, a nice, nearly citywide view of Tiki is below. What do you think? As always... questions, comments, concerns, and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Date: 1/25/2005 5:44:24 PM Author: pitch you have lots of woods.quote> You noticed? Yes, but seriously, so far the only city that's not heavily forested is Mexica. There are others to come that are not completely surrounded by woodlands, but, alas they are still to come. (Redundant enough?) Oh, and thanks for the response.

Hi all. I haven't updated in a while, mainly because nobody really seems to respond to my updates. But, hey, I can't get anybody to respond by doing nothing either, right? So, another update then. First of all, to the south of Catalina Island is the fifth largest island off the coast of Duthford: Tree Island. In fact, it is the island seen as one takes a ship to the Seaside Harbour. As you can see below, Tree Island has been populated. After all, who wouldn't want to live on a tropical island paradise? Not really all that impressive, but kind of fun to look at. On the other hand, and a much more important update for the people of Duthford, Seaside has gone through a major renovation! Downtown was completely overhauled, and a new major sector of the city has been added. Just for reference... Here is the most recent view of Seaside's downtown, before renovation. Now... are you ready to see Seaside as it is now? Well... here it is. The new sector of Seaside is a western downtown, built on the opposite side of the river, as seen below. And, a zoomed out view of the entire downtown is seen below. As always... questions, comments, concerns, and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but your CJ continues to amaze me. And, I thought I might be able to lend a little help. I did an online translation for Paseo Maritimo. Paseo means, generally, walk/stroll. Maritimo will not translate (probably an accent missing or something), but since it looks like a cognate (cognado) I believe it basically means maritime, which would be consistent with it being right on the shore. So, basically what I'm getting at is, I think Paseo Maritimo roughly translates to Maritime Walkway or Shoreside Stroll or something along those lines. Anyway... I have to say it again. Great CJ.

I am 19, living in Oregon, but I will have to go somewhere else for college (meteorology) this fall... I dunno where yet. I am the source for any SNES SimCity questions. I have all the answers (not to brag or anything... it's just that I have played SimCity SNES for probably a total of about 1500 hours in my life [just an estimate])... So, of course, I have played all the SimCity games in between, and am having great fun with SC4.
