The Empire of Chaumont - 'Delightfully Oppressive'
choco1 replied to jarnomiedema's topic in SC4 City Journals
Jarnomiedema my friend, a fond farewell to Chaumont! I've been hovering about myself recently. Was looking back over Chaumont just now, and 'fantastic' as you quoted above doesn't quite cut it.. I think I'll go with freaking unbelievably fantastical! Yessir. -

UM, WOW! It takes a lot for me to use all capitals so one can tell how impressed I am! Awwww, this may well mean I may... have... to... get... a PC... oh, god.
-
Aww man! That was so awesome... I may well have to get a PC just to play this... I'm not entirely sure I will survive without it!!
-
Haha, that threw me off for a while before I figured it out! I didn't even remember that it was April Fool's Day! Haha, just a mild heart attack.. Still, those internet location things always seem to think I like in Geelong, which I don't. I guess that must be my server location or something.

Change we can believe in.... Version 6.0!
choco1 replied to Craig-Abcvs's topic in Simtropolis Related
Wow, it's all very pretty and shiny new! -
SimTower and Yoot Tower were some of the best and most memorable games of my childhood! They were just so classic and simple, yet entirely replayable, I wish they still made little but complete games like this these days. Shame my computer won't play it anymore, I love the 2D graphics!

Change we can believe in.... Version 6.0!

Woah, I tell you what, the new sever (or whatever has been switched recently) is so so so much faster! -
Yay Dirk! That'll be a fantastic opportunity to get a good glimpse into this new game! All I want to know is an okay that the game will really 'grow' before your eyes, that there will be plenty of beautiful details like Simcity 4 and that the lots will be a bit like SC4 and have space around them, not just taken up entirely by the square models like city life.. If that's what you discover on your journey this game will officially join my must have list! PS: And as an aside, Woooo! Paris trip! Oh how I love Paris!

Oh my, I've been a member for a bit more than four and half years, coming up to five soon!

dirk: Change Is Coming (to Simtropolis) Version 6.0!
choco1 replied to Craig-Abcvs's topic in Simtropolis Related
Oh Wow! I remember the switch from 4.0 to 5.0 and I remember that it was long yet still exciting to see the new result. And what's all this talk about coinage for? Ah... coinage is such a great word, I actually used it on an exam last year! -
The SimCity 5 Thread (Formerly "Is SimCity 5 Ever Coming Out?").
choco1 replied to xterra09's topic in City-Building Games
Well, I shall be watching for Cities XL keenly as it frankly is looking fantastic. It is true that SCS was a slightly misguided attempt by EA to broaden the appeal of the franchise and so in the mean time I'll continue to play SC4 as it remains a thoroughly enjoyable game. But look, we were all surprised about the announcement of Simcity Societies. I think we may well be surprised in the future with another, hopefully more welcome, announcement from EA. -

More will follow. Green Depra is one nation of many Depra Nations. Together they form a collective known as the Depra Circle. There are eight nations in total, they include Gold Depra (the capitalist powerhouse), Red Depra (Always in Autumn), Blue Depra (The land of the Sea), Purple Depra (the Party Capital), Yellow Depra (The Sunshine Country), Orange Depra (More than just deserts), Grey Depra (they are quite neutral) and Green Depra (The Land of Nature). For a complete guide to all the depras visit page 23. This CJ is devoted to just one of those nations, the smallest, and the newest, Green Depra. The Depra Circle was formed long ago. Before the Circle, there was the ancient lands of Black Depra and White Depra, these lands are lost, and exist only in the stories. The Ancient Depra lands fought for thousands of years, millions died, and countless suffered. When there was no-one left to fight, they made peace. The few hundred which were left alive banded together, and swore never again to destroy so many lives needlessly. Enlightened, they left their war-torn lands and moved forth into the new world. Many countrys were made, and a millenium later, the world had indeed changed. The Circle was built on the idea of a free and peaceful world for everyone, but it would not be until the tiny nation of Green Depra was formed, that people really realised that goal. Now, Gold Depra, the largest nation sent forth its many ships, loaded with people from across its lands to settle in a new continent. Gold Depra was crowded, its cities clogged with tall skyscrapers and factories. Many of its citizens wanted change, they wanted a new world to settle in. That new world is the untouched land of Green Depra, with its Green Hills, dark tree lines. The first settlers landed on an East Island, later to be known as Black Ash Island. A recent surveyer has come back with these airial shots of the new, unknown land. The East Coast, Ash Island and Blackberry Inlet, A future development site: The North Side: The South Side: Central Lands: The North-West Mountains: And Finally, the South-West Mountains: Thank you for reading the first part of my CJ. I am chocolatemax and I would love any comments! Stay tuned for updates very soon all about the new development of Green Depra. Cheers, choco.

Any ---insert noun here--- who is pathologically warped can not be God. I realize that the definition of "God" can be elusive and that people don't always agree on it. I refuse to believe that God is sadistic. quote> Ah, interesting. Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him god? Epicurus. 33 A.D. That's the quote I keep coming back to when I think about god.

Australia is very different from the US in that it has huge, huge land area but a tiny and largely spread population. quote> Note to my fellow Americans: Think of a land mass about the size of the continental United States with the population of Texas. (The numbers aren't exact but you get the idea.)quote> Yeah, that's a pretty good approximation. Add into the equation that the continent is literally a desert everywhere except the immediate coast. It's without the climate variation of the US, it's basically a huge dustbowl an hour's drive from the beach. Looking at the news footage, I keep wondering where the helicopters are. I'm sure they are there; we just aren't seeing them. I imagine that these guys were on the scene somewhere. But, as Max says, there aren't enough of them to go around. btw, it's good to see you again, Max. Thank you for letting us know that you are okay. Another note: "mid 40s across the nation" translates to about 113 degrees F. which is pretty bleeping hot.quote> Ah thanks SkiGeek! Yeah, I have finished school and deferred for a year, so I finally have time to start doing things I'm interested in again (Simtropolis certainly included!) It's great to see you and everyone again! But, it's been a scorcher of a fortnight in Victoria, we had four days in the low 40s (something like the low 100s in Fahrenheit) two weeks ago, now THAT was hot. And relentless too. And as for the helicopters, we have a few (in fact, I remember a few seasons ago we borrowed a massive one from the States) but again, they're not overly useful. Because of the flatness of the country the firelines are too long, and water-sources are usually very far away. Burning control lines (or whatever they're called) seems to be the most effective method, it seems to me.

Originally posted by: SkiGeek Originally posted by: Duke87 Anyways.... wildfires happen in the American west every summer, but they don't claim nearly this many lives. What exactly is different here? More densely populated region?quote> From the short clip I saw on Headline News, it appears that they might not have firefighting equipment we are used to seeing. It's difficult to tell, though. That channel often goes for the most dramatic footage it can find. The clip I saw showed people trying to hold the line with garden hoses and swatting at the fire with wet towels. quote> It's a combination of things. Australia is very different from the US in that it has huge, huge land area but a tiny and largely spread population. Whilst we have a very advanced and experienced group of firefighters and equipment it still makes fighting such a large swath of fires incredibly difficult. Add to that the fact that it was one of the hottest days on records (mid 40s across the nation) and there were literally hundreds and hundred of fires, basically the entire nation and particularly Victoria (the most southern and thusly usually the coolest) was on fire, there simply wasn't enough firefighters to counter so many. Add to that the fact that it hasn't rained in a long, long time and there is mostly dry, dead bush out there, the conditions are much more fire deadly than what often happens in the US. There was almost no relief or escape. We're a dry country with a small population so in the end people were literally trying to protect their houses with hoses, many of whom tragically failed. Thanks for the concern Sam, I am luckily well away. Though I have family much closer, luckily they are all fine though.

Ahhhh! Cities! Real, bright, hectic cities! I love it, and I remember when this journal began too! You've certainly got an awesome style going on so don't let up! Take care, Max.

Darmok! Remember me? My second journal in a long time, after Emerald Falls of course! And you are still amazing, and awe-inducing too! I'm filled with awe. And as an awe-filled individual I have a great desire to start playing SC4 again... do I dare? It's been so long! But still, this journal is looking amazing, looking back over the last few pages you're very intuitively and inventively using the new NAM and I see you're still the best barometer of new and classy downloads. And 172 pages! Wow, I remember back when it was in two digits! Haha, does that make me old? Seriously mate, looking wonderful here. Take care, Max.

84... that number just keeps growing.

Jacky! This is my first stop in a journal in a long time! But my golly, it is just beautiful! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, and stunningly lush! I am glad this was my first stop as it has me all inspired again. I was recently trying to get back into Simcity and had cleaned my plugins completely to rebuild them from scratch. I must ask you how exactly you got that particular texture consistently under Jeronij's side street mod (I'm assuming) because I don't like the textures I'm getting at the moment but have just fallen IN LOVE with yours! Award winning brilliance as always! Best Wishes, Max.

Oh, it's all really scary actually. Happening in my own state, seeing the Premier break down and hearing that many people were burnt alive in their cars trying to escape the fires. Very, very sad.
