  1. simcity 4 Sharing Plugins Folders - Discussion

Hi all, My opinion probably won't add a huge amount to the conversation, But I am an example of a 'returning player'. I played SC4 years ago and recently just decided to have a look again, I think it popped up on steam or youtube. I don't play many games these days and I own a macbook. So I wasn't really expecting things to go smoothly. I can tell you a starter pack would be a fantastic way to get more people playing. Google 'SimCity 4' and I doubt you will find many vanilla images. Most great looking cities use a collection of mods. It leads to the 'why doesn't mine look like that?' reaction. Now Mac OS leads to its own issue with mods, .exe's. I never liked the installers (too slow) even back when I was playing on windows. But now that apple have dropped 32bit support I can't even get wine to run them. So I see a mod I like, see its list of dependencies, realise I have to run all those on my old potato laptop and then transfer everything to my new laptop and hope I don't miss something. It's just not fun. This is a real discouragement from trying some of the great content. I am pleasantly surprised to see how much interest there still is in SC4. I was shocked to find some good recent lets plays and active development in NAM. I think if I had found a nice starter pack of the essential bug fixes and quality of life mods, plus the terrain beauty collection mentioned above I would have been ecstatic! I can understand a large, actively developed mod Like NAM being a separate install.
