  1. disabling background programs

Even on a quad core, 8 GB RAM machine, I still like to disable/uninstall a lot of the bloatware, and unnecessary software that runs in the background. You can do this by running msconfig.exe, and clicking on the startup tab. It should give you a checklist of all the programs that run when the computer boots up. Disable whichever you deem unnecessary (most of them are, or can be started at your discretion, according to needs). As for the services tab, disabling those are a tad trickier; you'd have to look up each program/task, and terminate accordingly.

  6. MLP FiM, eh? I have a friend who keeps badgering me to watch it since he's a total fan, but I seem to be immune to the appeal of it. The production quality is pretty good, though.

  7. Hey, is your brother still around? Haven't spoken to him since I left a few years ago. Tell him I said hi!

  11. Laptop suggestions

What is your budget? I mean, you can get a pretty sweet machine if you're willing to spend around 700 or so, but if you want something in the i7/6gb/17" range, you''ll probably spend about 1k. As for basic specs, what Nonny said seems to be a little on the lower end side of things these days. 4-6 GB seems alright, and at least get an i5 processor. As for the HD, you'll probably automatically get something at least 500GB.

  14. Unofficial Fan Expansion Pack

I hereby sign the petition to exclude any content of mine or my colleagues from this supposed "expansion pack". And of course, you have to at least concede some tangible form of evidence before parading around such a thing. Everything so far consists of something cobbled together in Photoshop, without regard to the actual function and needs of the game. Enough of this dog and pony show.
  15. To answer the original question, yes and no. Oh and yeah, architecture isn't what you expect it to be. That's how they weed the wannabes from the serious folks.
  16. The Simtropolis Closet Thread - deux!

Hmm . . . I have a theory regarding what he means. Despite rumors to the contrary, men and women think differently. They approach life differently. Often women can not understand why or how men act and think they way they do and visa versa. So, what he is saying is, he likes the ideas men have about how to live life but isn't attracted to them physically. How did I do? It's a common dilemma, really. The whole "can't live with them; can't live without them" syndrome. To an extent, yes. That's the case. But of course, there are also imaginary scenarios where hypothetical beings are attractive, but not necessarily on a physical/sexual level. Almost like a pseudosexual/metasexual appeal of some sort. IDK, it's really strange. I have a couple of really good friends that I always joke with that if we never find wives, we'll go off to whatever state allows gay marriage, and get hitched there. You can't quite call it a "Bromance" or anything like that; I can't quite put my finger on it. This is confusing (but in a good way, I guess ).
  17. Jobs in Architectural Visualization?

I was thinking of posting about architecture school. Should I do it here, or make a totally new thread? I am currently enrolled in a B ARCH program, and I have a lot to say about it...lol

  19. The Simtropolis Closet Thread - deux!

Say, what do you call it when you're attracted to certain ideas of the same gender, but not even remotely to anything of the same gender that exists in real life? Just wondering for no particular reason.
  20. My, how we've changed

Haha, I posted something along these lines of conversation in the "Leaving/Returning Thread"...as copypasta'd below:
  21. Desktop.. Everyone has one of these!

Nice piece of abstract photography. What is all the color junk along the top of the frame? Yeah, those are all my shortcuts and programs. I don't like to have too many icons (if any) on my desktop. It's called Object Dock, or something like that.

  23. Still around people

My, haven't seen you around here since the good ol' days, around 2004/2005 or so! Then again, I haven't been around here myself much either...

  25. The Leaving / Returning Thread

Ah yes, Toronto...the annual AIAS (Amaerican Institute of Architecture Students) Forum was there last year. I didn't get to go, but many of my colleagues did go. I could probably go there one day to check it out, but I've always been more interested in Montreal or Quebec City. I have been in Toronto once as a child, but I don't remember much, other than the suburbs (Either Brampton or Mississauga). As for Jerusalem, we'll be looking at the older stuff, as well as some of the market places, and the general urbanity of it all. Same goes for Tel Aviv, which itself doesn't really have much before 1909, save for Jaffa, which itself doesn't have much from antiquity.
