In the uk this story was in the paper also.

Paying real money for things in a game you have already paid for is sickening but nothing surprises me these days... Well I too am of the opinion there will not be a subscription, but someone did mention it thats why I asked the question lol. I guess as Earlwolf has said there will be DLC/Expansions to add features... EA will likely impliment a similar system to the STEX here but you will have to pay and cut modding altogether for SC2013.

The Moose Factory - Virtual Bar and Grill - Version 3
lew1984 replied to A Nonny Moose's topic in General Off-Topic
Thanks that was a fantastic meal I feel much refreshed now :-). -
It was mentioned on this forum thread there will be a subscription fee to this game is that true? If so then I will have to change my vote to a definite... no! I would think paying the higher than nomal price to buy the game to begin with would be enough! I pay enough in the real world but to be forced into subscription fees aswell because of an online only component is not on. When you also consider the other drawbacks/concerns already covered here you will be milked for every last penny for an inferior product to SC4 :-(.

The Moose Factory - Virtual Bar and Grill - Version 3
lew1984 replied to A Nonny Moose's topic in General Off-Topic
Stressful day what have you got to warm my belly? lol -
I think the original actors are capable of resuming there original roles depending on the time scale we are talking about here... If episode VII is set as blade2k5 mentioned 30-50 years after VI, then I think it could work pretty well to have the original cast return. However if its set just a few years after then I have to agree with Nonny.

Fantastic Industrial area! :-).

landmarks wanted in SC2013
lew1984 replied to Mr Saturn64's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Any landmarks that really broaden the game and give it a more international feel would be great for me. :-). -
Living in a quiet part of the world (Swindon,UK) I can only imagine the disruption this hurracane has brought must have been frightening... Best wishes to everyone in NYC :-).

It annoys me that people in this world are still consumed by petty differences and intolerence of other peoples beliefs, its an endless cycle of hatred that goes back hundreds of years. You would think that people would be sick of it by now. I know its idealistic of me but every one should be free to believe what they want, and for others to give the simple courtesy of respecting what other people chose to believe... I know the world just isn't like that.

It would be interesting if they followed the books, but if they do/do not would not be an issue with me as there are so many novels out there set across all different periods I wouldnt know where to begin. Im aware of the Yuuzhan Vong but I don't really know what theyre about in the expanded StarWars lol. I did enjoy the Jedi triology by KIevin J. Anderson but except for the first Boba Fett story thats all I have read. I Just hope Disney pull some magic on it because they are going to have a hord of crazy angry Star Wars fans after them if they fail lol.

What do these acronyms stand for?

You could join my new club "Delete Acronyms Now" or DAN. LOL -
Interesting.

I think the market is over saturated with Star Wars at the moment and really feel it needs a rest for a while, there are endless games (some good) the TV show Clone Wars (I know its meant to be good :-)). And many many many books, I wouldn't even know where to begin in the expanded universe lol. I read the Jedi Trilogy and I know of the Thrawn trilogy but beyond that I am lost! When I bought the Blu-Rays I did enjoy it but not as much as I could have, I guess I'm just suffering with fatigue from these being released and re-released constantly, the whole thing just feels done to death to me. Its a shame because I love the original three so I have banned myself from watching any Star Wars for a while... Hopefully I can pick up and enjoy the blu-rays again but it wont be for a while for me.

My own Simcity game framework, written in C# & XNA
lew1984 replied to cnlazylu's topic in General Off-Topic
This is a fantastic effort... To look through this thread and see the incredible progress you have made is amazing, you truly do have a talent for this and to do it along side Uni work takes alot of dedication :-). -
Im no Tom Cruise to be shure but I would never change what I look like (physically), we are what we are and Im fine with that. Style wise I guess I could do with getting some more fashionable rags but money wise its not easy to balence these things... depends on what your priorities are in life to be fashionable or cool to me comes second to more important things like just getting by in life.

The possibiliy exists also that someone could connect the pc to the TV via HDMI/VGA/DVI and use it as the centre of their entertainment system much like someone could use PS3/X-box in the same way. Technology crosses many boundrys these days. Laptops offer portability so someone can watch DVD's on the move... Not everyone downloads films TV legally or illegally. In fact in the UK it is almost impossible to get digital films unless its 'Rented' via google or netflix love film etc. The only service I'm aware of is itunes that lets you actually 'purchase' a film and keep it unless you buy a blue-ray with digital copy. even then on itunes technically you are still only renting. DVD's and Blue-ray for me are still the best choice as you actually OWN your purchases... This makes Win 8 an unatractive upgrade option. Where upgrading your system is concerned I agree with Nonny why upgrade for the sake of it? You should only upgrade if its necessary rather than spending money needlesly. For the most part XP Users will probably benefit from upgrading to Windows 7 if they need to get more support with current hardware/software utilising 64bit. Windows 7 works for me and what I use it for so no upgrade for me.

What do these acronyms stand for?
lew1984 replied to Fatherted's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I live in acronym hell lol... You should try working where I do, they keep bringing out new acronyms for departments that change or move all the time its a nightmare remembering what these places are or what they do lol. -
Mines on Silent pretty much predominantly as when I'm at work I don't want the thing going off and interrupting me all the time... trouble is I often forget to take it off silent afterwards lol. I answer it when I have time and its appropriate (ie not at work) and always check the number before I answer it in case someone is trying to sell me something!
the main island looks awesome, no download i just get frustrated playing regions with that much water
Thanks :-)... I'll probably upload a more land based map at some point but I'm a bit region-ed out at the moment, It takes a lot of time and effort to make these and this is the second one on the trot for me. I just want to build a city now lol.

Crazy that's a bit backward but I guess you'll be able to pay for an app to give that functionality back.

Hi guys this is the Nissuto Island chain located somewhere in the tropics, ideal for your hard working sims to go for a holiday :-). Its a standard SC4 16x16 size region. There is five large city tiles as well as various other med/small tiles. In my last upload I took on board the comments about a lack of cliffs so I have added some in this map, even though they drove me crazy making them look even remotely right! As usual you need SC4 Terraforma or mapper for the SC4m file to create your region in SC4. Instructions included in the Readme file. Yeah, it does. You boot to the start screen and then you click the desktop tile to get to the desktop. This makes the desktop feel like an addon to the main UI - the start screen - which I don't like at all. There are programs out there (best one is called StartIsBack) which restore the Win7 start menu and boot you directly to the desktop. This reverses the roles, making the start screen and all the metro stuff feel like an addon to the traditional desktop, which is much better IMO. I'm using the Windows 8 RTM in a virtual machine right now. Once you restore the start menu, it's really just Windows 7 with a few things cut, a few things added and an additional UI. Once someone finds a way to fix the ugly as hell window-trim I'd probably use it as my main OS. If your upgrading your o/s from XP/Vista it makes sense but if your a windows 7 user there would literally be no point lol. Why pay money for an upgrade to win 8 and go through the trouble of configuring it so its like windows 7 with a few things cut... May as well stick with 7 :-).
