How to: Ilives Reader, Beginners Guide
rodolima replied to Tropod's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Hi! I'm an user of Ilives Reader for some time. Actually, I use it only to change the names of lots. (And that's the only thing I know how to do.) I'm brazilian, therefore I translate many of the names, so they can better match the game. But portuguese has a lot of accented characters, eg Ç, Ã, Õ, Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú, Â, Ê, Ô. I've tried everything, even tried those weird XML codes for accented characters, but nothing has worked. Is it possible to put an accented name, like "Estação José" (Joseph Station), to a lot? Can someone please help me? Thanks! -

Change The Size of a City in a Region
rodolima replied to dcfr_14's topic in New Members Information
Got it! Once the original regions of the game don't have any .SC4M/greyscale file, I've opened the region on SC4 Terraformer and exported the image, saving as a .SC4M file. Then, i just followed the steps that AIX has explained very well up above. "1) I modified the config.bmp in Paint to suit my needs. 2) Open in Sim City 4 so your new tiles are created. They will be flat for now, don't worry. 3) Exit SC4 and open the region in SC4 Terraformer. Make absolute sure you "protect" your existing cities! 4) Re-import the original .SC4M (or bitmap). 5) Save and enjoy your newly re-configured tiles. " -
Change The Size of a City in a Region

@9988: I did that: I've opened config.bmp on Paint and then changed it by repainting the bits. But when I went back to the game, all the tiles that I changed were flat, without any terraforming. What did i do wrong? -
Change The Size of a City in a Region
rodolima replied to dcfr_14's topic in New Members Information
Sorry for digging up this thread, but I have some questions. I'm building my cities at the San Francisco region, but I really don't like its config. Can I change this config? I know that the cities will be lost, but I don't care (I'm tired of the cities and I wanna erase them.) I read that I would have to start over and regenerate the region by using either a greyscale or a .SC4M file, but do the vanilla regions of the game have those files? Thanks -
