Hey i've messaged a couple times before and all of your tips have helped me greatly. So I have a new issue and need some help. My residential population is stuck at 81-82 thousand and wont grow. My commercial jobs are stuck at about 40 thousand also and wont grow. I think I have all the basics so here's a short list. 1- I made sure to build wider before taller. I only have a few unzoned areas left but i'm saving those for things like a zoo and major league stadium and other various landmarks. 2- I have started to zone med/ high density res areas but I dont want to take it any further yet. People are abandoning and not finding jobs in the med/high density res areas, yet I have some commercial/industrial zones in place that arent being used. 3- Commute time is NOT an issue any longer, I installed the NAM simulator Z and it helped GREATLY (although I wasn't aware my monthly cost would SKYROCKET due to that). 4- I have 3 small neighboring cities a mostly residential population that all funnel to the main city for jobs. 5- I have all my educational/health bases covered as well with libraries, colleges, museums and schools. 6- my $ and $$ res demand bars are huge but still dont build in my med/high density areas, and all my commercial/industrial demand is in the tank. Desirability is NOT an issue! That about covers it so what can I do? Has anyone else had problems like this, and how did you fix it?

I have a growing city that has many med/high density res areas abondoning due to a long commute time. I have a good mix of avenues, roads and highways. I also have bus stops and subway/stations literaly at EVERY corner connected throughout the city, yet they are still being abandoned due to the long commute. What else could i possibly do to rectify this situation? commercial and industrial areas aren't that far from res areas either, I feel like i'm doing everything right.

I'm still in the early development phase just about to start zoning med density commercial, however alot of my low density commercial businesses have low customers and some close up. My res population is almost double than the commercial job population, so how could there possibly be low customers when the ratio of res to commercial is almost 2-1? How do i fix this and get more customers? Does this even matter?

Ok I'll give some of that a try. I do have lots of medium parks and med plaza's at nearly every subway stop (thats alot). I do have a small airport on the top right (not seen in pics) should I upgrade to the international one? The WTC I have is just the landmark/sub station so no jobs there. Desirability areas are great except near the power plants and landfill on the top left. I'll mess around with it a little but any other tips would be greatly appreciated. thanx

On the right side of the city is where i'm rezoning to med/high density This is a closer view, as u can see lots of "no jobs" but with high density commercial they could easily build up Being from Buffalo I had to make a small Buffalo area. All low density except for landmarks, which buffalo is basically that small in real life anyway This is a far view of the city. at the bottom near the WTC is where im starting to develop and have lots of available commercial zoning not being taken. There is an airport in the far upper right. Alot of industrial in the top middle and bottom middle Thats my subway/ mass transit.. Clearly not an issue. I know i'm new and its not that great but what do you see that i can improve and get sims to start finding jobs and building up in the "new york" area?

I'm not so sure that jobs are a problem. My res population is almost double commercial jobs, I think I have enough jobs because there is no commercial or industrial demand, in fact its well in the -'s. Should I zone more commercial anyway to see if it helps?

also as far as zoning goes also I try to zone a large area of only commercial to give an authentic "downtown" look. Like i said before i have a larger res community but should i try mixing in some res zoning in my "downtown" area? Please use the edit function instead of making sequential replies. tungston

Looks amazing!!..I cant even get those tall skyscrapers yet what is ur strategy? What r u gonna do when u get thru harlem and up to the bronx? Someone better make a yankee stadium BAT file ASAP!! lol.

I've been downloading some sc4lot files and placing them in my cities.. They look GREAT but the lights at night wont turn on.. Why could this be? Do I need an update for the game? Apparently the files supposedly have night lighting
