  1. Money Problems

I never use loans. I know what tax methods work and I build to demand and in most of my cities I'm making $3000+ a month. If i leave the game playing for a while i eventually get 1-2 million simoleons and then i never need to take out a loan.
  2. Get me out of here!

you can get a lot of money by taxing your industry.. it would stem the growth of that demand of dirty and manufacturing industrial. That could make up your $2000 pretty easily and you won't have to grow your industry so fast. Then, any growth you do add, i would spread out over a larger area, with 1 or 2 tiles in between the zones. this will spread out water pollution.
  3. My farms are becomming blackened :(

peg products are just eye candy. they dont have a 'tree' effect.
  4. tax and the levels

Dirty and manufacturing industry can sometimes go as high as 14%. High Tech industry should be around 7.4% and sometimes lower if you really want to encourage it. Sometimes high-wealth Residential can be 0.2% lower than mid and low wealth to encourage high-wealth people to stay. for business 8.2% could work, its all about a balance. then run the game in cheetah for 3 months so the game and occupants take over the new tax scheme
  5. Ok, so I went out and bought SimCity 4 Deluxe because I didn't want my game to crash and I wanted better plug in support. The game is stable and I can even do GLR now without the game crashing, but regardless of how many farms I build, regardless of how many new lots (I've made 5 lots so far) the argiculture stays extremely high. I've built cities on a single tile with 130k sims with 6 small 9x9 lots of farm. Never had this issue. Wondering if its something in my game?
  6. Monthly Income

This is why I would never use money mods.. makes the game unrealistic
  7. No jobs zots popping, maybe a bug?

Well you are using a downloaded AKA ILLEGAL version of the game. You are bound to have problems. I will not provide any help if you are using a stolen copy. It's $20 for Deluxe edition *roll eyes*
  8. Attract rich sims? reduce the amount of low-density commercial?
  9. Playing SC4 for Class

Clean Air Act in Ordinances will stop the air pollution of farms and minimize it in the rest of the buildings. If you were really into some work.. the Tram on Grass would be sweet.. tram rails with grass between the rail.
  10. Parcelization of Industry

I have some large buildings and they look better, and more like real industry. the smaller stuff can be tucked away in a city, but a nice hight ech hub is very nice to look at. and i have some massive 4x6's with only 60 job.. you have 160 in yous?
  11. I read a good post about holding CTRL and making lots for industrial. I've been able to get some neat looking buildings that have up to 60-70 jobs each. Also, they just look better! Especially the HT industry. However, I don't know the standard sim city lot sizes. This might also be useful for other lots too.. I have about 27k sims at the moment, and I want some better looking commercial, industrial and residential lots. Can someone help me out?
  12. there are bigger sizes, though. I just want to know if someone knows them, theres a 2x4 (several) and a 4x6 etc.
  13. ok, I was impressed! especially with a hightech 'hub' in my city, I had quite the awesome development. I once again spent 3 days on a city that couldn't build bigger.. I'm creating a huuuge map 8x6 large tiles of Toronto. I will utilize this strategy next game. what a tick off though, building cities that max out at 25 k.. i wish i knew some secrets to build big cities fast.
  14. are you using a simulator? also, you don't appear to have any bus routes.. you might also want to change the size of some of your commercial offices. 1x2 doesn't allow the game to build the 3x3 offices, etc.. so you might be limiting the growth of those areas by only having 1x2 zones. also check your taxes.
  15. OneLondonPlace

^ no it doesnt, but still! it's a beautiful building! It's perfect for the forest city?
  16. Trump International Hotel Tower Toronto

people keep saying 'just as i remembered it' what? it's not even finished being built.
  17. k, read through this and see how i like to design my cities.. however, I want to build cities of 500,000+ and I know I need to have good transit networks.. any tips to help me? I downloaded a flat, huge region of all large lots. In the city over from California - Toronto, I've built an alright tram system based on grids. California however, is just a bus, train, and industry city. I am thinking of installing a monorail for passenger travel to replace the trains. I just need a townhall meeting and the budget. Right now the two sit at ~20k sims each. The railnetwork is a major feature with over 6000 sims communiting to and from California every day. LArge image: http://img2.purerave.com/5/56/5406556_.jpg This is a major problem in that area in terms of traffic, but it's the only area with traffic issues. California also has a Technical College based on one of the colleges I went to - Finch Hawk College (based on Fanshawe College, London Ontario Canada). Although not in the picture below, they have recently invested in a hydropontics sky-farm for their horticulture program and for the starving students. It has dusted off the buildings and a new luxury condo has been built. the old sky-tower in the picture has been torn down also. Large Image: http://img2.purerave.com/5/55/5406555_.jpg The college allows for a very vibrant and prosperous High-Tech region of the city, Which includes its own Micro Hadron Collider: I mostly build my cities with avenues as the grid, and design my own neighborhoods. This is one of the ones I put a bit of work into and it turned out nicely: Larger Image http://img2.purerave.com/5/60/5406560_.jpg This is a view of another neighborhood that is more rural.. larger image: http://img2.purerave.com/5/57/5406557_.jpg This is the overall view of the city.. including the large dirty industry area built in the forest. copy and paste link -it's a big picture http://img2.purerave.com/5/54/5406554_.jpg I am kind of at a loss where to grow more? I might even want to rebuild my entire DT area and m ove the college seeing as the train and monorail are making traffic bad in that area. I want to be semi-realistic in my approach, and usualyl my nice neighborhoods bring that quality. but I have lots of demand for Ind, Com and Res..
  18. Thanks Ditro! I just have to get creative. I'm going to download some more custom content and not be so worried about zoning issues, lol! I take the game too seriously.
  19. Help Please- Newbie

the designer is really particular that you read the readme file.. it might have some hints in it for you. and it's a PEG production, i rarely get PEG items to work.
  20. SimCity 4 in Wide Screen Mode

i will try this tonight awesome
  21. Show us your Tram Systems!

trams ystems make my game crash
  22. I live in Toronto.. We consistently get ranked in the top 5 best skylines in the world annually. With the addition/remodeling of the CN Tower lights the former world's tallest structure is now a giant jumbotron that gives awesome lightshows at night. This is a shot from my balcony : and another: someone should redo the CN Tower in SC4 to include the light shows!!!!
  23. hey, I just built a huge tram network and i'm building a city around it (so it doesnt crash) thing is, i can't find tram-in-road stations.. are there any tram tips I should know also?
  24. I've quickly recovered my spending on the tram network. it's the first shot, so I'll learn as I go. I'm starting to play large lot regions. the tram in avenue stations i use now have busses.. so not many are using the tram, but i'll rework that tomorrow. also, i usually spend $5000+on parks a month, so... $1200 on public transit isn't much LOL and thanks! CaptCity - i tried searching since I saw some in pics, but couldn't find them. thanks1
