RCI Demand and Menus Broken
Al Postpone replied to Al Postpone's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
wiecher: That's very interesting. I considered that ILives Reader might affect the game and tried to dodge it by reinstalling to different drive, to no avail. I've also removed ILives and other modding tools, no cure. Could they have broken something in registry? Edit: Scratch that, problem was elsewhere. SC4BOY: You were right, I DID backup my Simcity_1.dat in SC4 folder. I feel stupid failing to mention that . Removed that and menu duplicates and demand glitch are gone. Commute time issue was unrelated, caused by playing NAM cities without the mod installed. Thank you so much! -

No change. Glitch is there, everything else works. Plugins folder has been empty since first reinstall. -
RCI Demand and Menus Broken

A small update. Average commute times graph has also gone insane, highest readings are at 10000 - but only in some cities, most show normal commute times. Extreme commute time doesn't have any impact on R$$$ flood, though. Also, demand caps at slightly lower value than I previously thought, and cities with total R population of over 100k start showing negative demand. Region data isn't to blame as the glitch occurs in restored backup regions. I've searched Simtropolis and SC4Devotion forums, but I've found absolutely nothing like my problem. If you know a related thread, please provide a link, or even make wild guess what might have gone wrong, I'm dumbfounded. I'll provide more pics if asked. -
I've played SC4 Deluxe for years without a a problem, and suddenly everything goes wrong. I've had NAM installed for ages, no other mods. I've never used cheats either. Few days ago I briefly installed and removed Colossus Addon Mod (core files only) without running the game inbetween and installed modding utilies, ILives Reader and SC4 Startup Manager. Since then, the game has been broken. This pic tells pretty much all. Witness: Almost all menu items are duplicated, even those in God Mode. Only ploppable buildings (Civics and Landmark) aren't. Demand no longer seems to work properly either. In all new cities connected to a neighbor demand looks like this and no longer reflects neighbors' demand and supply. Demand seems fixed, though, and my largest cities start with maximum negative demand, which leads to mass-abandonment of very old and stable cities whose neighbors haven't been touched. Medium cities get huge rush of R$$$, CS$$$ and CO$$$ development that caps at about 100k and is so sudden R$$$ houses start getting 'no job' -zots en masse after being built. And this has occurred in every city in every region since the glitch occurred. Effectively, all cities are ruined as normal development is no longer possible. The biggest problem is that completely cleaning Plugins folder and uninstalling-reinstalling game doesn't remove the problem. I've tried two times and I can't see there would be anything left from old install to keep this problem. .exe and .dat files are in their original, freshly installed condition. Modding tools have been also uninstalled but the glitch stays. Current install is completely clean with empty Plugins folder and the glitch still persists. I'm using Win Vista 32. Any ideas what might be causing this and how it could be fixed? Edit: Smaller img, sp.

I've downloaded and generated several STEX .jpg regions without problem. There is a problem when I attempt to generate my own grayscale image. First, .jpg files (I've saved myself) never render at all. The computer does not even try, no error, nothing. Quality level does not seem to matter either. Second, while generating from .bmp and .png is succesful, all maps have water levels too high. Brightening map interstingly doesn't move waterline (horizontally) at all, but instead rises water level to match previous coast, generally resulting 85% of map under water. A few maps have been generated semi-properly, but at the moment waterline seems to be random, and I can't trace a reason nor pattern to it. In older threads it was suggested that water level should set at about 84 RGB, but a recent test brought it to 219 RGB, with massive trench in south end of the map. Any ideas? All maps so far have been made by Paint.NET. The results have been pleasing (enough) except for water level, and if possible, I would not like to resort to new tools. Thank you for your attention. Edit: In summary, what defines water level and how can I set it properly for drawn grayscale maps?
