  1. Is anyone familiar with Chris's work? If so, I'd love to see some recommended listens posted in this thread. I've always adored the SimCity soundtracks, absolutely amazing stuff. I love the range of jazz, fusion, ambient, electronica and even trip hop seen in SimCity 4... so many breath taking tracks. The soundtrack really is a huge part of the experience to me, so I hope that Chris is able to live up to the great standards set by previous SimCity OSTs. What do you guys think about this?
  2. SimCity: Wishlists

This sounds great. I really hope they take this game to the next level in all aspects. It always bothered me how in SC4, water could only exist at sea level. Even SC2K allowed for waterfalls etc. Hopefully we see the return of the HydroElectric Dam!
  3. Discussion about City Tile Size

I don't care how long the game takes to come out, it's been almost a decade now. They better get this one right (Looking at recent Maxis releases, I wouldn't be surprised if this game doesn't live up to its expectations and legacy.) There could definitely be some sort of system where there's a Region government, or sort of a County government, which will pick up certain expenses for the whole region. It should be up to all the mayors to vote and work together to figure out which expenses the County/Region government should be responsible for, and what each city will take on its own. This could make the financial aspect of the simulation much deeper, and it would create a new way in which people would have to interact and work together (or against each other). I just really hope they see the potential and possibilities of the online multiplayer aspect all the way through. I hope they are doing this to make the game more realistic and a deeper experience rather than turning it into some crappy social game where everyone has a cute little 2x2 cities with little to no gameplay depth (ahem a game like SPORE)
  4. Discussion about City Tile Size

It's all great and dandy if you wanna do some mental gymnastics and call the small tiles burroughs or neighborhoods, but regardless, each one would have its own budget to balance, which really doesn't make that much sense. For the sake of any sort of realism in the simulation, the territory defined as City boundaries should be unified under a single budget. My mental gymnastics can't wrap around that one... any advice?
